And IDK, overlays just seem like an important aspect of this to me. Nearly all past winners show far more effort than this. -shrugs-
And INB4 Butthurt @ not winning comments; I'm not participating in the spotlight. I put effort into my own pets for my own purposes, but I like reading the creative things people post. This.... hardly seems creative at all.

Fine. :T The story was boring and rehashed, the pet has no overlay and besides the quickie coding, it looks like there was hardly any time or effort put into the pet. Compared to past winners, this doesn't look like it belongs.

@Ierosbats I totally agree with you.

Below post is butthurt.

There's nothing special about the profile that speaks out in any special way to me.
It's a profile, that's about it.
The story was short, it was okay, and the good part was the skull in the background.

If you look at User not found: burmy's pets, you can CLEARLY see she put TONS of care and time into hers and thus deserves to win.

Some of us think "simple" is pretty. And it often takes more talent to create something that is beautiful in its simplicity than something that hits you in the face with how "beautiful" it is. I'm sick to death of pet profiles with 100 scrolly boxes, or baker/pirate/chocolatier pets that just collect every baked good/pirate item/chocolate on the site with no editing whatsoever. Just because your pet has 200 treasures doesn't make it interesting. The whole point of the pet spotlight is to showcase pets, pet stories and profiles that are all different, and all well-done.

And criticizing a pet for *not* having an overlay? Um, the artists that work for this site produce GOOD art, that's why they have jobs. I'm not sure what the problem is with liking the official art and not always feeling obligated to change it. Adding an unnecessary overlay to a pet doesn't make it less simple, it just makes it more frivolous.

Not overly exciting in any way shape or form.
Just a story. Just a picture in the background. no overlay.
Well I'm off to read something productive now. :

It just seemed very plain to me.

I'm not like dying of anguish here, I was just paraphrasing the two negative comments. Snarky mood is all, haha!

Zeppelyn

@thoughtful there were only two negative comments?

It seems really rude to me.

Usually I like spotlight comments, but these ones seem like they're overly critical in an unhelpful way.

(Maybe some actual constructive criticism? Is it the small treasure chest? Something in the writing? I can make edits, you know! Heh.)

That quote at the beginning of his profile is pretty cool. o:

Agreed with Phantom.

Usually I like spotlight winners, but this one seems like it was finished before it was done.

It seems really unfinished to me.

Oh wow, the writing is fabulous. Gives just enough to get us intrigued, and is super well-written and... mysterious-y. TC is nice, if much smaller than I'm used to haha -- at least he has the necessities. xD

Congrats!!
