I think all the new design really needs is to keep that "sly-looking" grin that the old fester has, otherwise it's perfect to me. :)

OH MY GOODNESS that new design is sexy. It could be a lot better if the critiques from these comments are taken, but it's really great on its own too. :D
O.O Oh my god PLEASE revamp!!! I love it!! I absolutely need to turn my pet into a Fester after the change lol I am a raptor lover but I honestly didn't like the look of them before! They were... sorta cheesy looking??
I never expected a revamp and never liked the old one but this is a big improvement and I like it a lot. It looks a lot better and realistic compared to the old one (and I didn't like its goofy grin). Though I feel that its common colour should be its twilight as it's got the colour shades and its common should be more a dark-brown brownish colour (in between griffon vulture to buzzard). Not too sure about the talons but it seems it only needs a little improvement.
Overral, I like it a lot. I don't mind if it had a mohawk, I'd be fine if it wasn't bright green (hated that from the old one) and if it was feathery. And if it was going to have a grin, I feel it should at least be a subtle smirk (I quite like its seriousness!) and I agree it should have a bit of a neck (it's a vulture afterall!)

No really, I do dig it alot I mean nothing about it screams dnw to me but I do gotta say I would miss the roundness in the originals' wings. The new one kinda reads as randomly strewn feathers because they're all pointy (almost furry) and I feel like that relates to a 'kawaii' element of wing design and the last thing you wanna go for is kawaii vulture (we've already got kawaii birds)

Not that I care because I love the new one, but Id be really cool to see if you can make the old colors work -shrug- DUNNO not so much important as first remark. Well I'm not a bid specialist nor do I feel the need to limit one pet to look exactly like a real animal when others are mixed as well, so as far as the anatomy of the new one, I'm smitten. I think he still has a mohawk and is a lot more... modern punk, rather than full in your face, which suits me well. The only thing that does get me is the color... it does seem quite dark and.. I hate to word it this way, but... way too gorgeous to be a common color. I also agree with Suzaku that the graveyard potion art already suits this new revamp far more than it did the old one... so one less revamp to worry about.
I love everything but the expression... if there is a way to make him look more cunning/sly like the old fester (he kinda looks mad now) I think it would be perfecto :D
The revamp is a huge improvement, but as others have stated, it could be better. Nonetheless, I can't wait for this update.
I also hope some of the outdated Fester colors get updated, as well. Such as angelic, bloodred, etc...

This would be 500% better. The old fester looked like some gag american eagle. I'm definitely loving the new one, this revamp will be the most drastic.
Ansdfs I know I all ready commented, but seeing all of these image-based suggestions, I decided I'd like to go ahead and provide some, myself.
It's sketchy and nothing great, but I didn't think that would be necessary, as I'm just trying to give some general pointers. Obviously the main picture is just to exemplify vulture anatomy, the main feature I want noted being the way that the wing is folded; you can see the contrast in shape and feather arrangement between that and how it's drawn in the Fester redesign.
The beak: it looks more eagle-like than vulture-like, so I brought attention to that. Not that it HAS to look like a vulture's beak, but just saying. I think I saw someone comment that they think the Fester looks too much like a falcon now or something, so changing the beak might help that problem.
The wing to the left: I figure it can be drawn either not-quite-extended (similar to how Hanana did it), or extended but with foreshortening incorporated to give it a better sense of shape and size. Not that these are the only possible options, but these are all just ideas.
The "hair" styles: I don't think it's necessary to re-do the crest, although it can afford to be touched up a little, namely in the way it connects to the back of the head/neck (there should be some fluff around it). However, some people pointed out that it's somewhat heavy-looking-- and in a way I agree, so it might help to look to how real bird crests look. I gave some examples of crest types that I think would look good on the Fester, if the crest is changed at all (which, as I said, I don't think is necessary). The look that Hanana suggested could work, too. It sorta-kinda reminds me of a hoopoe crest, which can be another potential source of inspiration: link
Lastly, the neck: I agree that it should definitely be longer, but I think the best way to draw that is to have it somewhat coiled, as I've shown. This saves room on the picture dimensions while still making the neck a desirable length.

Nice, but somehow it looks...angled. I would prefer some more birdish, airy about, it's still good, but maybe the longer neck (like some suggested) would already help

It's a complete change in character, but frankly, the character of the old one had zero appeal to me. There's something very 90's about the old Fester, with the totally radical bright green mohawk, and the Bart Simpson-esque 'attitude' expression.
I'd be happy if this went through as-is, but if I could tweak it, I would alter the pose slightly to break the long straight line formed by the top of the wing and the tail. Also, I agree with a lot of people that a longer neck and meatier wings would look great.

I definitely like the art of the new one better, but I agree with many others that it lost some character. Something somewhere in the middle would be ideal.

I love the new fester! I like a more sinister looking bird. I have a graveyard one, and he is one of my favorite pets in terms of art. I think the fester is based on a vulture and the old one was too childlike. And it seems subeta is moving away from super-cutesy childlike pets. From what I have seen, most people don't have their festers being adorable. (I also havent seen many festers...)

As gorgeous as the art is(really, whoever did it did do a great job), someone mentioned earlier that the right wing seems too short. We have buzzard/vulchers where I live, and that have GIANT wings. If the fold was more visible, like in the original, is might help give the wing a larger feel.

The new one looks like that young, socially awkward Severus Snape you see in the last Harry Potter movie. Which isn't a horrible thing, but it's a complete 180 from the original's personality, and I can see a lot of people getting upset by their pets changing that drastically.

I personally like the old Fester .. The new Fester is beautifully drawn, but it seems like it's missing the personality of the original design. It seems like a new Fester all together. There's nothing from the old Fester being incorporated in to the new version. It has a completely different color scheme, no smirk and no mohawk D: I'm going to miss the original Fester..

this one is much better. the old one was a bit cheesy tbh. i take the new design (especially with the more neutral color scheme) much more seriously than that neon green mohawk.
i definitely super enjoy the colours on the revamp. however, i really like the old fester's plumage, particularly the punkish style of it & how it flips forwards a bit. i also agree that the old one's smirk should be present, it really gives it that mischievous character.

I am voting for the old, simply because the design does need a bit of tweaking. I REALLY like Hanna's version, and her tweaks do make a ton of sense. I like the idea of keeping closer to the original colors as well. If this all goes through, I might need to get m'self a Fester!

I'm impressed, this looks gorgeous and detailed. I do feel a bit turned off by the splash of color under the eyes and the two toned beak though... Like he's going for dark and intimidating, but forgot to take his bright eyeshadow off. :S
Yes yes YES Hanana! Omg, the smaller head, bigger chest, longer neck, added smirk, lighter hawked up feathers, and the anatomically accurate wings is just PERFECT! The feathers on the wings make so much more sense and even the colors fit better. :)

I voted for the revamp, however a friend mentioned that the pet looked more Twilight than, uh... common. Which, I agree to that. We both think that the fester should be more brown. So I love the new design! I think it's great and perfectly drawn, but I do think he should be more brown so he doesn't resemble the Twilight color at first glance. ♥️
Update the bird, but keep the old color scheme. I voted for the new one; I'd actually consider owning one.
I love reading the input of all the different artists on here. I voted for the new one, but agree that the wings, neck and head feathers need a little tweaking. Overall though, so much better. Like many others, I would now consider this pet as an option.

The revamp is well done, but it's just...boring.
The current Fester looks like an arrogant punk star Sid Vicious-with-feathers (which is great) and the revamp looks like a generic evil bird.
It would be great to keep the theme but update the art and only the art.
& +1 to Hanana's redesign too.
Just gotta add more love for Hanana's edit! It really shows how much a few relatively small edits can drastically improve a pet. I would totally get one of those, aha.
I'm very happy to see that Festers are getting a revamp, but I agree with most that perhaps the neck needs to be longer so it stays vulture-like. I'm not a genius at bird anatomy or anything but I tried the old looks on the new base.

However, I would definitely make the neck longer in comparison to the body. With his neck that short, the poor bird looks very stiff.
Another thing, and this is just a personal opinion, but I think the new fester should have the same facial expression as the old. Gives him a little more personality, ya know?
