It's because it's a unique item that may or may not have a lot out on site. That's why it's called a CUSTOM wearable. This to me just seems like a standard CS item and it doesn't seem like it's justifiable to pay $20 for the whole set. A trunk is a trunk. Shouldn't be more than 500.
People whine about 250 CSC for one item yet pay 500-600 and more for a SINGLE CW item? Idgi. But I really like the female set wig and dress, anyway

That's rediculous! 2k for the complete set?!? That's really greedy as someone said. The set's gorgeous, but not worth 2k/$20. Donation items, yes, it's worth 250/item. This, though? It's just another trunk. Shouldn't be more than just a flat 500 like all the other trunks are.

Yeahh, I like those shoes, but *not* for 250 csc. I could maybe spend so much on the dress, but... for shoes like that I couldn't justify spending anywhere near that much. It's a shame because it would be nice to have more shoes for my HA. :P

I agree with Lexx on this one.
It would have been better if this was a set with a price of $5 or something.
I spend a lot on CWs but this is ridiculous, rather buy with sP :/

If these were 500 apiece and you'd get all items I'd be already buying the CSC for both. But like this? Let me think about it :P

you just can't say "oh you can't complain about the price because people spend 5k for a cw" because the simple fact of the matter is not everyone buys cws and CERTAINLY people who buy them for 5k+ are in the minority... as someone else said you're comparing apples and oranges
cw prices are almost always justified by batch number and availability, and i'm pretty much just reiterating statements from other people, but these items have no limit and are not given a time frame on how long they will be available
i've tried to come at this from both sides of the argument and i could see myself spending 250csc on the wigs at least because that's what boutique wigs are, but there is no way i would pay that for a tie. as others have said once again these were made as a set and that's why they are incomparable to donation items where you also pick one item, and chance bags are that much because of the chance
i don't know, those are just my thoughts whatever to each their own i guess

Was going to buy the set thinking it would be a full wardrobe but after seeing the 250tag each, no thank you. Love the Coy set, but it's not something that screams I MUST have it. Might get the wig, but won't be buying CSC for the other parts.

The new masquerade clothing lines are very pretty :). Sadly the site event is broken for many of us on here, myself included. Dances won't go through, timer doesn't show for me, can't purchase from steam work shop because it will take double tokens. I would consider the clothing lines but since the event won't even work for me this year I can't see purchasing something I won't be able to use ^_^. The artwork is amazing as always. To those that can enjoy the site event glitch free have a great time. Thank you kindly ^_^.

When I thought this was a trunk and you got all items from it I was seriously tempted to get it. However, finding out I'd only get one item for 250 CSC, not happening. No way I'm going to use what little CSC I have for just one item, so not worth it. Like others have said, if it was a trunk and for 500 CSC & you get all the items, I'd go for that.

The art is so gorgeous, I love the female set especially. But the price T__T
As others have said, I wish it was a costume trunk, or even a boutique set. Yes the price is the same as a monthly collection, but those have more variety, and the clothing out of those usually aren't small things like gloves or belts or a tie or shoes (as lovely as they are). Yes the price is the same as the chance bags, but even those don't have small items. Even boutique sets have different prices depending on the item (more expensive for wigs and less for accessories).
And I thought Subeta was getting better, with the Rudeboy Gift Bag and Honey Bow-Wrapped Box sets....

Eh, I don't see the price as being any different from the chance bags/collection bags, and I like that we can buy them separately and not get stuck with a whole bunch of junk we don't even want, since all I wanted from the set was the so coy dress. Cheers subeta! ^_^

I like the female shoes, but no way I'm paying 250 CSC for them... I agree that by pricing it 500 CSC for the whole set, I would glady coulgh that up!
I might buy the female wig though, but I don't think any of the other items are worth the 250 CSC price tag.

I'm gonna say one more thing then I'll stop posting on this, promise.
I'm probably going to buy none of these items, because of the cost. Judging by most of these comments, I'm not alone. However, if they were trunks, I may well have bought both. Definitely would have got the Coy set. So I'm just gonna put it out there: you'd make more money if you had them both cheaper.

I'd buy the whole set for 500 csc, but one item for 250 csc? No thank you. I'd love to, but I don't think I want to pay 4000 csc for 8 items.. It should not come as a set, when it cannot be bought as a whole..

Even though I have to admit that I will wait for a sale, most likely Black Friday if they are still around then.

I looked at it as being the same as a monthly collection and bought the dress. It goes with my High Elf skirt and jacket and it's so rare to find anything I can add sleeves to these days.

@Ipsi No, that's market economics. The sellers will charge as much as the market will bear. The market for non-limited CS items isn't the same market as it is for certain specific CWs of which one, two copies will become publicly available. The price point for CS bags is in no way related to the market for private CW auctions.

Sunny
A tad pricier than I'd like, but I might consider the wig :S
Delish wigs and DP wigs are 250 csc either way, so that's not too farfetched, but belt and gloves for 250 a piece? ahahah. I could buy real belts/gloves for that much at thrift stores.

I love the art, the Koi set is fantastic.
But I'll only buy some if they stay around for a sale. That price tag is too high for something that could've been a trunk or a Boutique set. I don't participate in the CW market, and I'd hate to see proces like this be the precedent.

And to those comparing these to the monthly collections... how is a plain pair of orange shoes worth $2.50? There just isn't anything special enough about them to warrant the price tag. The wig, the dress, the vest and the masks maybe... but simple things that are barely there, highly similar to existing items, or hardly noticeable are usually the items from the trunks and collections that just get thrown in the wardrobe and forgotten about or liquidated because we got them while buying the pieces we actually wanted. It might have made more sense to sell these like the boutique sets... a discounted price for the whole set and an individual price based on the desirability of the piece. The only thing I'll say is thank God they aren't chance bags.
0
Orchipea
The sets are gorgeous, but the price tag is painful. This definitely isn't going to be an impulse buy on my end, and if I do buy them I certainly won't be getting the whole set. Maybe a dollar a piece, but not $2.50.

fallenkitsune
I'm not paying 250 csc for each item, whoever thought that up is insane and greedy. I'll wait and buy them with sp in a few weeks.

Remember this? $5 for a special set of masquerade items.
This is what I expected to pay when I saw the news post. The Mysterium set is 7 items and was only $5. Why isn't this the same? The items are amazing and I would honestly LOVE the whole Coy set... but $2.50 an item? No thanks.

I'm trying to figure out if the Rule mask is a butterfly/moth. No referencing but looks somewhat like a butterfly/moth. I just can't tell the more I look at it. I don't want to spend csc on it to only realize it won't work.

The difference between collections and chance bags is, imo, the items aren't insignificant. Sorry, but it's true. They're all gorgeous but some aren't very significant in the HA. Look at the gloves, the tie, the half-jacket?..even the belt. We got some belts almost like that one a few days ago that are restockable. The items aren't all wigs, nice piece of clothes, backdrops or makeup/face items that to me (and in subeta economy) are worth more.
0
BIRDIE
ok heres my two cents Collections cost 250 CSC a pop for ONE ITEM! how are these any different?

That being said the items are lovely and I did buy quite a few pieces for my wardrobe, thank you.

If subeta is looking at the CW market and thinking they should increase their CS item prices, their poorly mistaken. Those of us who are active in the CW market are a minority, there's quite a few users who don't even bother because they can't keep up. Even better, comparing those who drop 5-10k csc on one item, we're like 0.1% of subeta.... very few users have this much to throw around.
You're going to alienate your customer base that can't / or doesn't want to afford these prices if this isn't a one-off. Custom wears are their own niche, and just because people are willing to pay X amount of csc for one item, however big or small, doesn't mean it should translate into the sites CS pricing.

:/ I thought the whole point of trunks is that you can get a wide variety of items for a set price. Correct me if I'm wrong, but MOST people don't just have extra CSC (or any for that matter). I don't have one CW because of the ridiculously high price tag.
Thanks but no thanks

Wow, I really like the items and want many of them, but for 250 CSC each (and for only one item), I just don't find it worth it at all. Maybe for the wig, but the other clothing items, not so much. Even regular and special edition Delish clothing items aren't 250 csc each. Yikes.

The coy set is beautiful but 250 for each piece is ridiculous. If this is going to be the trend in pricing subeta is going to get even less money from me in the future, this coming from someone who used to always buy new Costume trunks.

Just because a small percentage of the userbase buys CWs doesn't mean that everyone has an increased amount of CSC to spend. In fact, the average, non-artist user probably has less thanks to inflation and hardly any free offers now. I'm involved in CWs and don't think they justify the price at all.
They're all beautiful and I would definitely buy the wig if it were redeemable, though.

I'd just like to add that the beauty of trunks was that you had a base price, and it included larger and smaller items in it. Therefore you had wigs and clothes who by themselves might be worth 250csc, but also rings and bracelets that definitely were worth much less.I wish people in the news post would stop bringing up CWs as an example of how these prices are okay.
GUYS. Not everyone buys CWs. Some people actively avoid them BECAUSE of the price tag. You cannot use CWs as a reason for these Subeta released items to be priced as they are. (Or rather, you can, but it's a very different example and I'd much rather you wouldn't.)
I do love all of the pieces, they really are beautiful. And while I am incline to pay 250csc for the stockings, I'm having a hard time deciding if I would spend that much on the belt or the corset. It has nothing to do with the funds, but more to do with the reason behind it, unfortunately.

I think the comparison of these to trunks or boutique sets if far more accurate then DPs or chance bags. These are all designed as one outfit set. The idea is to complete the set, yet to do so would cost way more then buying a trunk or boutique set. Each of these sets completed is 2000 CSC, while boutique sets (which have 3-4 more items) cost 1200, there are a lot more items in the trunks (especially newer trunks) and a trunk only cost 500 CSC for a complete male or female set. I do really love the art and have added a few items to my wishlist but they may stay there for a while.

I like quite a few of these items, but that's rather pricey for a full set ($40 for both). Delish sets don't cost that much. (And I really don't care that there's a crazy person here and there that will spend ridiculous amounts on CWs. That's their decision, not mine.)
Oh, well. Lovely items. More than I'm willing to spend. And I'm happy to leave it at that.

Hn... I bought one but somehow missed the "chose one" note. I am disappointed--I'd rather have gotten two items randomly or had them be disparate like a monthly item. It's not really the price (I buy monthly packs all the time) per item but the expectation of a "set" (that I'll never complete now) that bothers me... If you want to make them pricey per item, the boutique is better and proven.

CWs tend to be stand alone items, often fandom based. Plus this looks a lot like a trunk, an entire outfit, and asking 2000CSC is a bit much, especially if it's only 8 items when you can buy ~12 Cash Shop Boutique items for like, 800CSC less.
People complained about 600CSC CWs but it was like that from the beginning. This kinda looks like you're charging 1500CSC over what you'd normally charge for something like this.

I love how everyone is raging at the price
People pay upwards of 600 csc for a single item on the CW market, including belts, shoes, necklaces, hair bows, and other very small items
What's even better?
People scramble to be able to throw 600+ csc at the CW artists for them!
The art for these is amazing and the same exceptional quality as any other CW on site so why are you complaining that these are less than half the price of a CW, widely available to anyone right now with no limit on the number released, and you get to actually choose which item it is you want?!
I would've paid 600 csc for each of these items in the CW market, so I am super happy to see them at an affordable price for anyone who isn't normally able to afford big fancy CWs
Great Job guys

pitching in with everyone else i think it'd be a little more fair if it was two items. I've seen a lot of the chance bag sets do that recently give you two items especially given some of the pieces are more intricate and little.despite this you can see each and every piece of each set was so carefully drawn that its hard to pick which item you would want over the others. there doesn't seem to be any "filler" style items.

As much as I hate chance bags (and it's a lot!), there is usually more variety in them. Pure wearable chance bags are more rare - they usually cost less (see the Pinkee set) or give mini-sets (see Vanity sets).
The difference between the prices on these items and the CW system is that these are set prices for an unlimited amount of supply. You likely will never be able to sell the item for more than you paid for it. It's similar to how CWs in the cash shop will rarely ever go for higher than 600 csc. The high-priced CWs factor in exclusivity/rarity in their valuations.
Basically - it's comparing apples and oranges. :P

People spend that much for one CW because there's a set amount that will ever be onsite and there will never be more. Potentially many will never leave the account of those whom bought it. People pay 5k csc for a single item when there's only 10 onsite and 9 of them went to friends who won't sell.
These will be in the cash shop for x amount of time (probably months) meaning who knows how many will be purchased. I can understand the wigs, but otherwise.. ahh, seems kinda... bold, in pricing (pun intended).

Koi - fish it's designed after

They're NOT CW's though. They're trunk items. No one is going to want to pay that for a single trunk item, plain and simple.

lmao I'm so amused by the "coy" pun for the girl set

I want the Koi set, but. IT. IS. NOT. GOING. TO. HAPPEN. Unless the price is severely reduced, or this gets sold as a new costume trunk. Seriously, 250csc for ONE item? And there are 8 to the set? Uh, no.

People pay for the exclusiveness of CWs, or perhaps for a fan item. It's a totally different thing, and even out of CW buyers there aren't many people who would cough up 5k csc - it's normally artists or people who have made a ton of CSC off a commissioned CW. These items are available to anyone whereas a CW might only have 10 or less public copies.

The issue with Chance bags is that they're usually not entire wardrobe sets. There's usually around 5 wearables in them, along with other items.
These are essentially costume trunks or boutique sets, except they're double the price per item of a boutique set and four times the cost of a costume trunk.

250 csc each is a bit steep. I would gladly do 500-1000 for the set (trunk/boutique style), or like 100/150 csc each if it's going to be all separate.
Pricing aside, these sets are so pretty! ^_^

Gotta quote Blir here:
How can this be too much and yet that isn't?
Quote:
Exactly. I love the hair and I will have one. People complain about one item being that much but yet I've seen people spend upwards of 5000csc on ONE custom item. People whine about 250 CSC for one item yet pay 500-600 and more for a SINGLE CW item? Idgi. But I really like the female set wig and dress, anyway

I like the trousers a lot, but not forking out for creased trousers, you'll get me on that male wig though.

Pretty, but totally no spending that much money to get the whole set, or even pieces of it. It would have made a lovely trunk addition though.

I want the So Coy set, but at 250 CSC a pop I wouldn't touch them with a ten-foot pole. /:

I'm totally quoting Masquerade here:
"I like that it isn't a chance bag, but why not just call it a costume trunk, price it at 500CSC and lets us have the whole set? I really dislike being nickle and dimed and I'm not even American."
Well I am American and still don't like this at all. The art is gorgeous. Gorgeous. We haven't had a new trunk in so long and I was excited to see these but shocked at the $20 per set price.

Glad it's not a chance bag. Some of the items are too small for that price tag, for me, when I wouldn't use them. But not complaining about the price.
I do really love the vest and the corset, so hopefully I can get them. LOVE the colors/themes.
My only issue is that I wish the dress shirt were completely buttoned. You know, not all dress shirts need to be unbuttoned. Far too many of the nicely colored, non-white button ups are undone... =|

Really pretty colors used for these, especially the coy set! That said 250 a pop for a single, exclusively wearables, item does seem a bit excessive. Especially when there's no time frame given on how long they'll be in the CS.
If they were chance bags, chances are there would be something other than just wearables and thus would offer more appeal to other collectors on site, as well as meaning one demographic is interested in every single item. Same being said for the collections each month c: I think 150 for one or 250 for two might have been a more appealing price tag, all things considering.
However I don't need any of them, as none suit my pet's TCs, so either way it doesn't really effect me |D I still like the colors, though.

They're gorgeous items, honest to God that Coy set is lovely but... I really doubt many players are gonna pay $2.50 per item. I think it would be better to jack the price up to 500 CSC and give the whole set.

I really want the hair but 250 CSC just to get that....I don't really know if I want to spend that much

Lol chance bag or not 250 CSC for one item is ridiculous, especially when this is more expensive than most boutique sets.
Tack an extra 250 csc on and make it a trunk.

I'm gonna agree, 250 for just one is a little.. much. I do like some of the Coy set though. c:

I don't know, change bags at least have the advantage of getting one of the super rarer items and making a possible profit .

The art for these is amazing, don't get me wrong.
But spending $40 on these is not something I'm even remotely about to do.

Nvm, I see now we can only get one item from the set.
That's stupid. :x
Why the hell should they cost so damn much?

250 csc is pretty much for a belt you can't really see. The art is lovely but too expensive

Only choose ONE item. No thank you. I would buy if it was the whole set. Not appealing at all.

Eeeeh, costume trunks are normally $5.00 total and the boutique sets are $1.25 a piece. Several of these wearables are tiny on actual HA's. I'll pass unless I can buy them in user shops.

sheral
$20/set and STILL we have site lag during these same cookie cutter events. You'd think they'd invest that assload of CW income into some better servers.
0
Sopheroo
Seems on par with collection prices, however, still more expensive that both trunks and cash shop boutique sets

Shadow
Pretty but $20 for a set is a bit pricey, I'll wait to see the hype die down over them.
