8D oooh well that threw me off a good bit, seeing an overlay in the news instead of a generic pet pic. but i love it! was rather confused and took a few moments for me to figure out it wasn't a new pet color or something. I figured it out quickly enough, but a newbie newbie might not as easily lol.

Rah, Wood is Stunning! I can't get my hand around what it is about him I like so much, but its one of your pets so its to be expected.
I think the reason so many people are up in arms about this is because Rah is a site artist so the art on her overlay could be mistaken for site art. I think most overlays won't have this problem. not because the art isn't good, but because the style is so different. I think once we start getting more and more custom overlay wins people will scroll through the news and see the different styles of art and such and there is no need for something saying CUSTOM OVERLAY.

I have thought long and hard about your Wood, Rah. I have wanted to say something that would penetrate you on a deeper level, without leaving a bitter taste in ones mouth.
It's a hard fact that I love Wood, and I would like to really pound out some well thought out compliments, if a little gushy and sticky in places, about Wood. Truth be told, I have a soft spot deep within, constantly throbbing, for Wood. But it seems I keep coming up short, if a little flaccid, and generally just leaving even myself unsatisfied to the potential head swelling ego stroking I desire to do. I am sure that someone else will rise to the occasion and really nail in something more pleasurable.

Just add the custom wearable star to the overlay on the news post/maybe battle statistics. Doesn't need to be added on the pet profiles (obviously) or really user profiles either, imo, since people can already change those.
Also, clicking on Wood's profile and seeing "Graveyard Kanis" doesn't really do anything for the confusion, in either direction. BEING DICKS back and forth doesn't either, fyi!

Pretty sure everyone saying they were thrown off should use a little common sense... If there was a new pet color, it would have obviously been announced. We were all told that custom overlays for spots around the site were being implemented. Use your common sense, people.

Gotta say I thought it was some new Graveyard color before I remembered the custom overlay thing, too. I think some kind of little notice on the post or page that says "hey, custom overlay here" somewhere would head a lot of confusion off at the pass. It would also be a great mini advertisement for custom overlays. Hint hint, subeta.

While I agree that an indication of custom work would be nice for the new users who don't know much, I don't agree that customs should be excluded here as the users who use them pay for that perk (and are any of you who are bitching newbies ? Probably best so I can deal with all of you guys xD Thanks for the compliments, I'm super happy to see that a lot of you have visited his page already n___n He's been meandering about the queue for a while now! I redid his overlay a little while ago to update it for the site-wide thing, and I'm glad that apparently was great timing :o He is very dear to me, as are all of my 'Teashop Crew' pets. I wish I had the time to work on them all! (And I'll talk to Keith about maybe having more of an indication that it's a custom overlay so as not to confuse the newbies)

i honestly think the pet spot light of all places absolutely is where a custom overlay belongs, it's pretty much the epitome of what the pet spotlight means! it highlights right away all the detail and character put into the pet!
that being said, this is all really wonderful! the art and the story especially, it really gives such a nice sense of character!

How about all you guys complaining that you didn't know what this pet was, or that the overlay threw you off, just use the brainpower you were born with instead of asking to be spoonfed every tidbit of information that's out there to be had? I mean seriously, if you were curious about the pet, it took a couple seconds to click on it and minimal thought process to realize that "Oh hey, that's one of those custom overlays!" Jeesh.

I strongly disagree. For those of us spending a lot of money to get overlays to use for our pets, we have every right to use them on Subeta. We bought that right when we bought the privilege to use our custom overlays "everywhere on site". That means everywhere, including the Pet Spotlight.

When you're spending $25-35 and then some for good, Subeta quality overlays, plus additional money for the right to use that overlay on Subeta, you deserve to get what you paid for. Many of the people making these overlays are Subeta artists, or could-be Subeta artists, and they need an income, too.

I love the custom overlay, but there really needs to be an indication that's what it is... like NoirRaven new users would get confused. Even as little as 'Wood the ♂ custom Graveyard Kanis' would clarify.

Oh, wait a minute... this is because of that permanent overlay thing, isn't it? :/ This could cause a lot of confusion for newcomers. They'll think it's a pet color and join, only to find out it's a fan original. I don't think it should be active on these kinds of posts.
