Site Hovers
The hovers around the site (user and item hovers) have been updated! This should speed up your page views by a lot, and they should be a lot more reliable. It should also make pages with a lot of items like big shops load much faster!
Technical
We moved the hovers to the javascript framework we hope to have all of our code running in the future. This will make page loads significantly less stressful on your browsers. Prior to this it searched the entire page to find all of the elements that could hover (which is why sometimes you saw images have the item hover on them) and gave them a hover. Now, it isn't activated until you actually hover. Also, you actually get a little spin thing now while waiting for the information to pop up.
It also means previously where we had issues with hovers not working (in places where content appears after the page loads - places like trades, and newer pages that use single page navigation) will now work automatically.

Item hovers in trades is so good, what a pain it was opening another page to see anything. I'm hoping the sticker hovers are better too, Im going to check, thank you so much.

@Silvanesti - that has been broken for me for about a week now. Not sure how related it is to this, but I definitely agree. I want that feature back. It was nice, especially because copying the image is so much easier than copying the text when on a tablet.

Hm. The picture needs the same time for me when hovering over it then before and also the site is slow and many host errors occur.

Oh, nvm. Just realized it was an issue with my CustomCSS. derp ... My aesthetic issues are completely my own...
My only problem is that it can inadvertently cover the wishlist add/remove feature (especially in my inventory where the items are towards the top of the page and the hover moves to the bottom of the image and covers the wishlist-majiggy.) Can it be moved to the left/right of the image instead?
But now copying the item image won't copy the item name. I know this is a small thing, but it became very useful to me when only item images were shown. Will you put this feature back in (maybe it's out because of a bug with the new update?) Or is this now removed for good? :(
They're a bit plain.. but they do what they are supposed to and only that.. and the loads are much better. I approve!
Yeah but now the wishlist border is gone again. :/ Also, can you stop implementing changes during events. I want my site stable during these stressful times.
They are a LOT faster for me. I'm hoping this also means the site will use much less of my boyfriend's bandwidth now! :)
They look fantastic! They're still really slow for me right now, but maybe they'll get better. Glad we can copy from the hovers now as well. It's a shame that the emoticons don't appear in the use info hover when a user has them in their status, though.
Ooooh. I really like this a lot. I had trouble with hovers taking forever to appear or not appearing. The new look is gonna take some getting used to but it looks good!

omg! Thank you so much! The hovers have always been troublesome for me. I like the new layout of them and they just load so quickly now! Awesome work guys :)

It only loads the hover info once if the item is displayed on the page multiple times! Hopefully this helps with mass fragging.

Holy smokes, this is a huge improvement. Especially when loading shop pages like the Steamworks Menagerie and Esther's. Much nicer to look at too.

@Mike We've moved away from single pages like the trades, and more like single pages like the achievements page which should make hitting the back button perfectly fine :)
This in itself is fantastic, but I still don't like single page navigation, especially the trades page. It's extremely frustrating not to be able to use the back button when you're trying to sort through lots and make offers on several, or compare items in trades or to do anything that requires more than just bidding on a reserved lot basically -.- I think they should just be multi-page navigation more like shop search and shops, they would be much easier nicer to use.

I've already noticed better load speeds, both in the pages with a bunch of items and in the individual hovers. This is awesome, so thanks :)
