Internet Explorer!
We're no longer supporting internet explorer as a browser for using Subeta. If you're using Internet Explorer to access Subeta, we will not be able to help you in tickets or on the forums to debug technical issues with the site. Microsoft itself has asked users to make the move to microsoft edge, the official Microsoft browser and they have stopped releasing non-critical updates to internet explorer.
We recommend using firefox or chrome as your primary browser when using Subeta.

I work in healthcare IT and about half of every healthcare practitioner that calls us still uses IE lol. It's so unsafe! I'm glad to see Subeta is informing everyone about this :)

I haven't used IE since 2005 especially after it helped bog down my computer with viruses, annoying ads, and malware. I don't even miss it.

People mentioning Netscape makes me think about my old school and how the computers there used Netscape...with the little N and the shooting stars...and Bess, the dog that blocked certain websites...anyone remember Bess?

.... People still use that fossil of a browser?? I switched to Firefox like a decade ago and never looked back lol.

This is such a weird thing to see, everyone supports non-IE browsers, except websites typically. It was originally for compatibility reasons, (despite the fact that IE is hardly compatible with things), most professional/business sites recommend IE as a first troubleshooting step.
Y'all are one of an elite group that has completely eschewed IE in favor of better browsers. That's excellent ♥

That's OK. My IE died over a year ago and I've been using Firefox and Chrome since so all good. Thanks for the info. ;)

You ever have a dream and wake up still in the grip of the emotion you felt in the dream? One time I woke up SO angry because I dreamed that someone had used my computer without my permission, and they used IE.

It was a old, old browser. Like one before Firefox. My GF even used that when she was first starting to browse the net. It was a great browser too until AOL bought out Netscape and they stopped working on it.

OUCH! That sounds horrible.....
@Hamilton
Teach your great-aunt how to use Opera. And if your great-aunt loves playing Subeta, more power to her! ;)
@Pluma
What's Netscape? I've been living under a rock; all these browsers. :laughing:

I work for a digital agency and when clients tell me they are using IE, I stop them right there and tell them I know how to magically fix all their problems.
Chrome and Safari are my go-tos. Chrome is the better option, but I use Safari for simple things mostly because I like being able to hit command+alt+ a number as a shortcut to get to my favorite sites!

The now fully zombified IE has attacked Subeta and is now preventing me from kissing anybody. Nice guys, you shouldn't have drawn the attention of that ravening carnivore.

I think if people are STILL using Internet Explorer at this point, they need to reevaluate their lives, just sayin.

I just started a job that uses Windows 7 and IE on a virtual network. It annoys me so very much.

i'd hate to see the computers of the remaining five people on earth who still use IE because they're probably just positively bloated with spyware and take 10 years to open anything
i've cleaned laptops of people like that before and it was literally an 8 hour virus scan to fully eradicate everything, it was BAD

I keep forgetting IE exists outside of my crazy panic once in a while when I accidentally click it and immediately virus scan after

@marija12 I'm on Chrome and can see your HA just fine, so you might want to try clearing your cache or something! :)
@Marcus Definitely, I love W3Schools! I use it all the time for self-teaching CSS, etc. And I may have even, uhh, consulted it, to decide if it was worth it to make sure my pet profiles worked correctly on Edge/IE, lol :sweat_smile:

And if you haven't ever used Microsoft Edge, don't bother as it's slow and just generally sucks!

@bonita they only mentioned IE users will no longer be able to be helped. Edge is probably okay considering it's taking place of IE. I have it but I've been too comfortable using Chrome. Might try Edge and see if I like it better. Overall, I've been reading for months that Microsoft was requesting users not to use IE any further.

Glad I use my Mac or iPhone to access Subeta... either Safari backup Chrome.

@Keith I thought we did this years ago!! like back during the 4-chan era? I haven't used explorer since then!

I'm so glad that Firefox (my browser of choice!) is still supported. A lot of sites seem to be dumping it or not fully supporting it, which is frustrating. RIP Internet Explorer, though, and whoever still used it.

Is there a breakdown of what percentage of users use different browsers? I'd be kinda curious to see that. :O

I loved super fast Opera until a few days ago, when BC, drop down menus, event deleting etc. ceased to work all of a sudden.

I recently got a new laptop and wanted to try something different than Chrome as, as mentioned before, it eats RAM. Going off of a few different websites, Opera seemed to rate great for all I needed. RAM munching aside Chrome is good too. I also used Firefox before and it seemed to lag on Subeta when I did, sadly. Opera works perfect though ~ :heart:

I use my iPad or iPhone most of the time to access Subeta. That's still okay, isn't it???

@PiplupMagby34 ya. But be warned not everything that works with FF (the addons/extensions) is compatible with Palemoon
1
CastlesInTheSky
Palemoon is basically a stripped down version of FF with a lot less garbage on it if you will. ive been using for years & its been good to me. Chrome is fine if you like google. SeaMonkey is still good & maintained. I still use it at times for certain things

@Porygon
I use Opera as well. Used Chrome until I got a virus attack/ data overload(?) and Firefox seems too slow for me.
@CastlesInTheSky
Is Palemoon free?

chrome is fairly intuitive to learn how to use, you dont really need a million fancy extensions or root around to find more complex settings to fiddle with on chrome to just browse like you normally do tbh

Porygon
I also use Opera and it works well! I've used Microsoft Edge just long enough to install another browser :pensive:

Lol, does still have people who use it?
Anyway, I recommend Opera or in last case... Firefox. Chrome eats your RAM like a Kirby.

I remember 10 years ago when the Trading Post search here wouldn’t work if you were using IE, haha. That’s actually what made me switch to Firefox, and I’ve been using it since. :’D

Opera is good too. Runs faster than Chrome and Firefox in my experience and has a built-in VPN.

My dad’s ‘new’ work laptop was defaulting to IE when he got it last week and of course breaking every site he tried to use. Don’t use IE, people! D:

FML. I was just getting used to having a PC and now I have to learn ANOTHER new browser? (Tried FF and Chrome and don't care for either...) So Subeta won't support edge either?
Shoulda stayed with Mac.

Switched to Chrome after IE prevented me from finishing the one desert tomb plot due to a puzzle not working on the browser. I have Edge as it came with this PC but I prefer maining Chrome and keep Edge as a backup.
3
SeriousGreen
Definitely Chrome, FF as secondary back-up. Microsoft can keep Edge..."we hates it my precious". LOL

I remember when I first started using internet and IE was my main browser and I couldn't open item menus on neopets without crashing it lmao

IE is still around. Wow, i havent used that since the early 2000's. Frefox is just as bad. Use palemoon
