Not So Friendly Challenger: Maleria
As you ponder all the things you’ve learned over the year, trying to think of some clue that would tie everything together, a small black orb floats out from behind a tree.
Dark matter!
More orbs materialize, joining the first and bobbing lazily at you. You sprint back towards the Mage’s hut, hearing distant shouts from that direction. As the path clears and you leave the forest, you spot the reason for all the commotion. The all-too-familiar face of the dark goddess herself gazes back at you and smirks. Her eyes glow strangely, like so many others before her. She’s been possessed!

Even so, I’ve learned a great deal, and I’ve decided to “request” the help of someone more sympathetic to my plight."
That suggests that it might well not be Maleria. I think it's more likely she might be allowing it for her own reasons. That, or she was taken by surprise. Can happen if you're not expecting it, and think that no one would dare to attack you. But we'll see.

Actually, any pets being able to beat her at all seems weak for a goddess. Or is it canon that a sufficently well-trained, geared-up mortal can slap a god out of the sky?
I'm glad she's so powerful and tough. She is meant to be a goddess after all. It would make no sense for her to be weak.
You can't just nerf the strongest character in lore, that is literally a space god. Come on subeta team.

... Wait wait wait... hold up... how the HELL does a GODDESS get possessed?! This just took a terrifying turn. o.O
That's odd, I found her and didn't even know it, no event showed up but she's in my secret opponents. Not sure if any of my pets can beat her but will give it a try.

@pointycatears I'm keen for us to be taken to Shengui Guo for the final boss just because it would be cool to have a chance to get 
(and reading the description, it could make sense for us to purify the possessed with this sort of staff :D). (and also maybe we could get the tea house while we're at it 8D that would be amazing plot tie-in /daydreams)
I'm calling it now, the next free challenger is either going to be Possessed Shinwa, Possessed Oracle, or whoever is behind the possessions. Or maybe the CS challenger that corresponds to the next possessed one will be the possessor.

This was a surprise partly because it seemed like she WAS the possessor (some people think she might be faking it, I hope not cause it being her is too obvious), and partly because for ages it was assumed that the goddesses wouldn't become challengers. But if she can be possessed, I think Shinwa will be next...
The wearable matter is so gorgeous. Like man so tempted. Who is responsible for such beauty?
