Masquerade: COMING (sort of) SOON
The Holiday Schedule article in the Subetapedia will be updated in the next few days with more information about each holiday, and add "Occurs in SEASON" type messaging for a lot of the holidays so y'all don't panic. There will be a few holidays with set dates still, like Elwood Day or our Anniversary.
There will be a news post when the article is updated. <3

interesting to spread them out more, i always felt like the summertime was a bit empty on subeta and that made it more difficult to have motivation to get on. i think overall this will be a positive change for the site, even if i'm a very change-averse person. i like having a bunch of holidays close together like it has been for years, because there's no shortage of stuff to do from october-may. but it is true that it leaves summer a bit empty and bland, which would be the time i would have the most time to actually play.

Modest proposal: ideal division of big subeta holidays into even increments throughout the year.
first half of year:
new years, survival, vesnali, masquerade, neugarten
second half of year:
keel hauliday, subeta anniversary, morostide, fireside, luminaire
so that works out, you end up with five in each half-year, to spread them out.
The trickiest part is to spread out luminare from new years as luminaire has been lasting "all of december" this entire time. and New Years kind of seems like it has to start right after that. What if you move luminaire to november and we take December off holidays entirely, or start New Years a few days before the actual new year occurs? that'd make lumi a day shorter, too, conveniently an even 30 days.
Given 10 major holidays and 52 weeks in a year, each holiday lasting about 2 weeks (but lumi is longer), that'd mean your ideal spreading them out would consist of 2 weeks of holiday (or a bit over 4 weeks of lumi, so that takes up our extra 2 weeks making an evenly divisible 5 week cadence x 10 holidays!), 3 weeks of no holiday, then start the next holiday.
going by this calendar of 2026, we have:
week 1 starts 29 dec 2025.
New Years could run jan 1 - jan 11
3 weeks out from that is feb 1
Survival could run Feb 1 - feb 22 (need an extra week to get all zombie virus in)
3 weeks out from that is Mar 15
Vesnali could run Mar 16 - Mar 29
3 weeks out from that is Apr 19
Masquerade could run Apr 20-May 3
3 weeks out from that is May 24
Neugarten could run May 25-June 7
3 weeks out from that is June 28
Keel Hauliday could run June 29-July 12
then it's time for Subeta Anniversary early I guess from Aug 3 to Aug 16

I really like the idea of holidays being spaced out. Survival/Vesnali/Masq back to back was too much and I found it fast paced.

Spacing it out a bit more is good, sometimes the Survival/Vesnali/Masquerade run felt a bit like a marathon. Masquerade is definitely still my favourite though.

I was hyped for monday or whenever June starts but there's something endearing about being here 17 years and seeing Masq slowly be pushed towad summer. I'd rather be ballroom dancing in summer than in spring!

Bit tricky for me personally since it looks like I'll be out of the country for most of Masq this year ^^; But hey-ho. My main worry about Masq starting so late is that it will cause Neugarten to start late as well and then you won't do that idea you brought up nearly 2 years ago of having Keel Hauliday earlier (like at the end of August or beginning of September) to make more room for Morostide, which will end up feeling rushed again. I am wondering how you'll space out the holidays in the latter half of the year since they are quite close together at the moment.

First thank you very much for the advanced notice! Even though this is a change I am looking forward to most games, sites, etc. just dump changes without an warning. It is always nice to have time to prepare for the changes I'm not looking forward to or anticipate the ones that excite me.
As for this change specifically. Does this mean Neugarten will actually have a month or dare I say date I can look forward to or will it still be floating around "Sometime in Summer"? :)

Thanks for the update! I love the idea of holidays being more spread out. I always felt a bit down during summers due to no user-interaction events taking place. The gap between Masq (and earlier Vesnali before it was swapped with Masq) and Moro always felt so huge for me.

No i actually LOVE this idea. Neugarten is kind of a non-event in my eyes…so there’s this big blank space, really, between masq and frey. 😅 it would be a beautiful thing if masq were to occur in june/july every year, in my opinion!
