Luminaire Tree Refresh!
The tree builder has been completely rebuilt for Kumos! This isn't just a port, it's a ground-up rebuild that removes a decade of javascript dependencies (no more "clear your cache" nonsense) and finally makes building a tree on mobile actually work.
If you had a tree on the legacy site, don't worry. It's already here waiting for you. The legacy site has been updated to point to the new image generation, which is significantly faster and properly cached.
This is part of a bigger push to make Kumos feel more like home. Check out the full changelog for all the improvements we've made to themes, hovers, performance, and more.
What's New & Where to Find It
🎄 Tree Builder
Drag and drop ornaments onto your tree, now with proper mobile support. Instructions are on the page, but it should be pretty intuitive. Build something beautiful, or build something chaotic. I'm not here to judge.
✨ All Ornaments
Browse every ornament on the site, see which ones you've collected, and search for specific ones. If an ornament is in your vault, that'll show up here too.
🎁 Tree Gallery
Set your tree to public and it'll appear in the gallery, plus show up in your user hover across Kumos.
This is where the ✨ new gifting magic ✨ happens. You can browse public trees with a bunch of filter options, including one that surfaces trees that haven't received many gifts yet (perfect for spreading some Luminaire cheer to folks who might otherwise get overlooked). Click into someone's tree and you'll see which items from their wishlist you already own. No hunting through wishlists, no opening a million tabs. Just "oh hey, I have that" and click to send it.
⭐ Wishlist Matching (Gold Account)
There's a tab in the gallery that searches across all public tree wishlists, matches them against your inventory, and suggests who you could donate to. This is Gold Account only because it's a pretty intensive query to run. I'm going to keep an eye on it!
📜 Gifts Given
Moved to live alongside the rest of the tree features. Now takes advantage of Kumos caching, so it actually loads properly. If there is anything else you'd like added to this page, let me know in the comments!

I know this is super late, but what I'd really like from either viewing someone else's tree OR viewing gifts given (or ideally both), is simply the opportunity to, well, actually GIFT them, lol. There is the matching wishlist option on viewing their tree, but no option to gift them anything not on their wishlist. And when viewing gifts given, sometimes I'd like to add to those gifts, but it's an incredibly long workaround.... on the legacy site their hover over the username would either have a link directly to gift their tree if they put it there, or by clicking on it I could go to their profile which then would have their tree. Well, the Kumos profiles don't have the trees, and the hover-over seems to have everyone's tree builder automatically, but unfortunately there's no option to just gift, as mentioned before. So I need to remember their username and go search them up in the legacy site to find their tree and gift there.
I'm loving the wish list matching! I just wish I could get my tree ornaments to work right! (hence the clearing-I tried clicking all kinds of things and my ornament inventory is still not updating) So sorry for bringing myself back to the "new trees" front! That was one of the buttons I clicked trying to sort this out!
Is there still a way to add all ornaments from my invo to my Tree inventory? It's very tedious to do it one at a time.

@PinkiePie The complaints are good! Please please don't take my responses (even if they're slightly surly) as anything other than appreciatative. Subeta is a two way street, and I don't have a place to build unless everyone is here and playing. I know that a lot of times it's frustrating on both sides, but it is really my pleasure to be here and to build this 💖
This is fun! I love the wishlist matching! The only problem I've run into is that I can't figure out how to use a tree skirt without it going in front of the presents and looking wonky, but otherwise it seems to be working fine. I had trouble with newly added ornaments not showing up earlier today, but it seems like that has either been fixed or that it just takes a couple of hours to show up in the inventory.
It shows all possible ornaments. I want it to show what I actually own so I don't have to scroll for 857 pages of ornaments. How do I change that?
Wishlist matching is erroring out for me, so hopefully that will be fixed soon because I'm so excited for that feature!
Added some new ornaments but they're not appearing as an option on Kumos. I've already tried 'refresh collection' as well as clearing cache and restarting browser but they're still not there.
Tree skirts don't appear and freshly added ornaments do not appear, even if you refresh using the button or even hard refreshing the browser. Also, clicking on Browse all ornaments or All Ornaments throws back an error.

@Keith I see that we can put 100 items on the tree but mine stops at 50. I am trying from my iPhone 14.
Mostly on subeta I use the desktop iMac. 52 loaded on there but wouldn’t save that way; that was before the most recent update though.

@PinkiePie There is now a 'refresh collection' button on the page, if you are missing items there that you added. This is unfortuantely one of the quirks of the Kumos <> Legacy site, they both have different caches.

And sorry everyone -- I pushed up some caching fixes for the tree ornament section earlier, and then immediately left to go to pub trivia. It looks like my push caushed an error -- but I'm fixing it now and the trees should be loading again. I'm sorry about that 😥

@Snowwall Can you tell me what your old browser / operating system / computer is? I'm _very interested_ in keeping Subeta working on older devices. I'm on the board of multiple groups who try to push the internet to be simpler, to load on devices over 3G and that are 10+ years old, I promise I am not trying to turn Subeta into some metaverse using the newest javascript and want it to work for anyone, on any connection. Before I implement anything I check if it's in standard browser versions (going way back!) and how to polyfill if not.
Trees seem to be broken at the moment but it looks like the new features will be a fun improvement when it gets back up and working. I'm especially looking forward to the mobile support since I no longer use a desktop. :D
My tree link is broken. It shows up as a broken image in my status. Anyone else not able to see their tree?
Generic error here too, after it working yesterday/the day before on the legacy site when I started my tree for this year.
I love the Wishlist Matching! But to me it seems the filters are not working? It keeps matching items from my wardrobe, while I don't have wardrobe selected.

I can't see my tree. Everytime when i clicked the link to my tree i got an error. It's not working on Kumos and Legacy. :(
The new trees are nice but the site right now is completely discombobulated. A lot of links aren't working. I can't search for users. Etc. It's frustrating.
@Keith - I clicked on the "Your Tree"on the Tree Gallery page and got a generic error page. It said to let you know about it because it was a generic error, that it didn't know what, specificly went wrong. So, I'm letting you know. Thanks for all the updates. This is awesome! :D :heart: tab on the
coming back to say i truly love these updates, i was able to empty out my storage gallery to my inventory and just click on a bunch of trees that only had a present or two under them and easily find new homes for stuff i've been hanging on to! it's so easy!!!! thank you for these updates, they have added so much more functionality to trees!!!
I love this update, especially as a gold user! I do have some feedback for the gifting, though.

Oh, forgot something: what I'd love is "a way to get there", other than the news post which will eventually disappear with new news posts. Like, where can we find the new trees, somewhere in the tabs, or (temporary) in the important links on the news page?

And the link to the Avatar Contests in the "important links" actually goes to a topic in the forums, while the contests now do have their own place in the drop down under "Personal" so they could be removed in the news?)

Love the updates to the trees! That's like, holy cow, what an improvement!

Why is it every time I find an "old-school" game with plain looks that works on any device smarter than a brick, it starts getting all fancy, scripty and non-backwards-compatible? sigh I was OK with cleaning the cache, honest! :-)

I am missing a bunch of ornaments that I just added. Do they just take a while to load in?
Any idea when the wishlist matching feature will work? What you select isn't accounted for. I tried searching based on gallery and shop, but it shows vault, wardrobe and inventory.
I wish there was a way to see if someone's WL is up-to-date.
Something I think would be good during Lumi, is a way for someone to "claim" a WL item (without the owner knowing), so that the owner doesn't end up with duplicates of an item. Maybe an upper limit of 4 claimable items so others can do it too.

Looks like it doesn't include shop items in the wishlist match search, even if it's checked, and it still shows wardrobe items if that is unchecked ^^;
Nice function and easy to use, yet the ornament I added isn't showing up for decorating, and one I added before but also removed is still showing up.

The tree gallery feature and wishlist searching makes me so happy! I absolutely ADORE being able to do random gift giving for luminere, and I hope others use this to be as generous to strangers! This is a wonderful idea!
I don't know if it's just me, but over on the legacy site the news post has paragraphs and headings, while over here it's one block of text...
i absolutely love this update! having a big gallery of user's trees is such a sweet way to send strangers some lumi love <3 not even mentioning how much the ornament search and list is a lifesaver for decorating!

I love the search feature for the ornaments! I also really like that they're organized by the type/style of ornament. But I still wish we could change the order the same way we can change layers in the wardrobe. If I want to move an ornament to the back when I have several under it, it's a pain having to click the arrow a bunch of times. That's always been one of my main issues with the trees before. And I wish newly added ornaments would go to the top of the list like they used to, instead of the bottom.
Also whenever I try to add a tree skirt, they all just end up being invisible.

Thank you! I could not decorate my tree on mobile. I had to borrow my son's computer to do it. Also his tree wouldn't load, but clearing the cache worked.

Made some improvements to the [wishlist matches](https://kumos.subeta.net/explore/arctic/tree/gallery?filter=wishlist-matches&year=2025) page (GA only for now!) that should make it work... a lot more of the time 😓
OK, playing around with the wishlist matching and really loving it! Is there a way to make it search only your vault and not your wardrobe?

1. the wishlist filter should have a friends tab, or there should be a 'friend trees' tab!
2. the WL category should probably be shown along the item- IK a lot of people have CW owned lists, or 'reference, ignore' categories, so could help avoid gifting items from those lists!

Cool but..I am getting a lot of the 'Oops, something went wrong' message but since this was just implemented I can understand there are snags so I will wait until tomorrow to decorate my tree more.

@Laurey You're totally right! Today I moved the `/explore` page over on Kumos, so now links that have been migrated there show their correct version (including the mysterious melody + advent calendar!). I'm going to get better about making sure that there are links places -- and there are a lot more in the navigation now too!
I get 'oops something went wrong' after every thing I do to the tree however I think it's working anyway? Love the wishlist matching feature and look forward to playing with that :D

These features are all really cool, but there needs to be a better way to navigate to all of these new features on Kumos instead of having to come back to the news posts to find links. Not even just this but pretty much everything that's been migrated to Kumos is not very intuitive to find, unless I'm just super blind. Melody, fishing that was moved a while ago. Unless you have the direct link already, it's not clear where to find things.

I just stumbled into the tree-decorating interface and used it, and it's the first thing I've ever done on Kumos where I didn't get frustrated and wish I cold go back to the legacy site. It was definitely an easier process.
And I think every Luminaire how much I would love for the site to be able to cross-reference wishlists with my inventory/vault, the way it can limit a user shop's inventory to my own wishlist items, but I assumed that was asking too much!

I can't decorate my tree on Kumos. My ornament inventory does not scroll and I'm disappointed the tree decorating has been removed from Legacy. Now I can't decorate on Mobile
