I prefer the old demi because the face is much cuter than the new one. The body is nice in the new version but the older version's face is just better in my opinion. If you kept the old face, but the new body, then maybe it would work.
once i saw mysticcookie's redraw. i would vote for that too. but seeing the poll results right now, i can see that the new demi is going to be chosen. and that's why i zapped my demi. however, if the redraw gets a redraw, i probably will get a demi again.

Mhn.... I have to agree with what some people are saying, though; if this revamp goes through, Morella shall have to be something else. I'm sorry, I know there was a lot of work put into this, but it's just too flawed as everyone is saying... if anything, I do agree with them and say that MC's demi idea would be a damned good idea. I'd get a plain colour Demi once I get enough pet slots should hers go through.

I love MysticCookie's version. While this new version has crisp lines, it lacks the soul I fell in love with. I just hope that if the new one is chosen that my Hikku will not be redone. I would hate to change him again. He would no longer be the demi I fell in love with and worked so hard to morph and potion should they redraw him. I mean no disrespect to the artist who did the redraw. But as of right now since I can not vote for MysticCookie's version, I vote old.
Hm. It is a VERY nice version, but I also had to vote for the old demi, as it is one of my favourite pets here and I would be sad to see it revamped. Yes, it is a little 2D, but I agree that perhaps a lineart change would improve that.<br />
Also, there are other pets I think that could use a touchup more than the Demi. But this has already been said, I think. ^^;<br />
However, I do wish we could see more than just a basic color on revamp polls...I know it would be more work for the artist, but it doesn't have to be all the colors, just maybe one other to help contrast the common...it might help folks to decide easier between old and new. I voted for the new Demi because I think it's better drawn. The artwork on the site reflects also it's quality. When I saw the Subeta site for the first time it was the artwork that caught my eye first.<br />

I'm with Malabui - though everyone probably knew that <img src=/images/smilies/6398_emoticon_raspberry.gif border=0> Again, no offense to Tsume - she does beautiful work and is a great sport about taking user opinions into account. But sometimes it's more about the character of a pet, and even that barely started sketch posted by MC in the forum has ten times the personality and Demi-ness of the one in the poll.
Is there any chance of putting Mysticcookie's sketch in the poll? I like it and it does seem to be a big favorite of the Demis poses so far...

I like the old demi better. It is cuter and has better eyes. The furr on the redraws back looks weird and the head is to small. Demis are my fave species and I don't think I would like them nearly as much if they changed.

I enjoy the way that the Demi was colored in the new version. The colors are more realistic, however, the Demi itself look overdone. Honestly the only way I can describe the hair is a mullet. The anatomy of it needs to be improved a bit, such as the tail, and the legs. <br />
What really gets me though is how fluffy it is, the cheeks are the first thing I see in the picture, and the hair looks like it swallows it up. it makes the face look a bit crowded in a way.

I love the new look, it has much more of a flowing relaxed look to it. Although I am not too fond of the position of the horn and the quills being less messy than they used to be, I really would like this revamp to go through, if you tweaked it a little to be a little similar to both Mystic's and Tsume's designs. I'd have to say that my main concern is its back legs, the belly doesn't flow into the chest so it gives it a sucked in stomach look. I do love the barbs along the back, thou along with a few others, the tail has far too much of a straight line to it instead of a tail's curve.
I really appreciate this newest version, and voted for it as well. However, I feel the tail has a very unnatural curl to it. It's a very beautiful.

After comparing this redraw to the original Demi, I voted for the old version. I preferred its more angular and slender design, pointed snout, and thick, seperated quills. <br />
However, I do like the realistic fur colour and placement of markings on this design. I like mystic's idea... I think the quills on the one here in the news post are two close together... you can't tell they're quills. However, the thinner line art is nicer than the old one. It gives the fur a more furry look. The new one has the horn too straight up... you can't really see it very well. If it were tilted forward a bit more so it stood out from the quills, it would look a bit better.

Thank you for mentioning mystic's sketch. After taking a look at it, I must agree that - while I voted "new" for the sheer beauty of it's body structure - I would definitely give the vote to mystics sketch, if it were inculded. I love the new demi, but the sketch in forums retains all of the charm of the original, while updating the lineart and general flow of the demi. I'd recommend that people check it out, if they haven't already. <img src=/images/smilies/6398_emoticon_smile.gif border=0>

It took me a little while of browsing through comments and considering both pictures of the demi to make my mind up here. But in the end I chose the old.<br />

I saw Mystic's redraw sketch in the main forum as well, angelembryo.. I have to agree with you. I quite like Mystic's redraw sketch, and think that it should be given a chance in the polls, too. It kept all the old characteristics of the Demi, and merely updated the art, rather than changing a bit.
The Demi has always been something distinctly Subeta to me. Changing the look changes the character of the species a lot. It's wild mane looks like quils at rest on the new version which is much of the main feel of the updated pet. I do like the body. It's a vast improvement. The tail is a little long, however the old version has it at an odd angle, making it seems like it protrudes to high on it's bottom. And also, what I like about the present version is that the horn does not go striaght up, but points forward, like a lance. As far as the face goes, the muzzle still looks to stubby. I'm sure That those who like the indistinct look of neither cannine or feline on the Demi,but it needs some flesh about the snout.<br />

While this new Demi is nice and refreshing, the overall bulky-ness of it does not scream Demi. The muzzle is horrably thick. I belive the origanal demi was designed as a rather lanky and sharp haired creature. Not a muscular matted down hair creature. This new Demi is even offensive and hard on the eyes on some levels. A good example the eyes. No longer due they display an inteligent and animal like feature; they are cartoony and bland. Leaves nothing to the imagination. Is some areas like the back hair too much detial is added in the new one. The angle of the horn on the new one is very er...wrong? it looks like its just sproited it!<br />

The neck and face look slightly too small-maybe if they were lower just a tad? I love the depth of the hair and its paws. I think its a great re-draw, and I voted for it.
I saw someone ask if the Demi should just get a slight lineart and shading tweak instead of a total rehaul, and I have to say I feel a <i>little</i> more comfortable with that idea. Especially if mysticcookie gets to do it. XD; Sorry... what can I say, I'm a diehard Demi fan and still convinced that nothing can really match up to MC's original except an MC redesign. <img src=/images/smilies/6398_emoticon_smile.gif border=0> I'd still be perfectly happy to see the Demi stay exactly as it is, though. There are other pets here that are in much greater need of revamps, and as someone said, the Demi is already a very popular pet despite its supposed outdatedness. The old one. This new one just doesn't have the right stripe from the eye down the rest of the body, somehow, and its mane/hair thing is too fluffy and not as natural-looking. It IS well-drawn, to be sure, but it just isn't a Demi.
I voted for the old, I do like the fact that they didn't completely change the look cough chibi malticorn cough but there is just something about it that doesn't appeal to me anymore like the old demi. While I adore the old one, and feel that this redraw has been unneeded, I know that the new one will go through, they always do. Which is sad. I love my Baso the way he is. <br />
But to give more constructve critisim, the old one is a little cartoony but it has an edge to it that I love. This new one is very flat seeming, not friendly. And as others have pointed out the tail and horn aren't in the right spots. The tail alone looks like its at a completely different focal point then the rest of the body. And the head is too round, and id ont know but pudgy? And I love the mohawk/dreds on the old one - this one is more like - "i'm gonna try to have dreds And an afro at the same time" it just doesnt work. <br />

The revamp version is pretty okay but I believe it's a little too fluffy. It's drawn very well and it looks good but I personally think it's too fluffy and innocent when I think that a Demi should be playful and silly.

It's the siamese of the demi world! The new eyes, I personally think look spot-on. I always found the old demi more innocent and possibly zoned-out than mischievous, and am very enamoured with this redraw. The fur looks much softer and less spine-like, which personally I prefer - But that's just my view. The only critisims I would have are that the tail looks rather flat, especially around the base, and the horn doesn't stand out very much. Although it does seem well placed. The paws are also rather large, which is appealing, but more slender paws would possibly fit the new elegant look better. Yes, it dosn't have 'OMGKAWAII" look of the last one, but if you ask me, it's much better looking this time around. I'm sorry, I hope I don't hurt the artist's feelings but I feel I must be honest. I was considering getting a Demi at some point, they were one of my favourite pets, but if this revamp goes through I don't think I will. I feel like the artist missed all of the pet's good qualities; the paws, the body, the legs and arms, the tail. They completely changed the Demi's proportions and yes, these may be more anatomically acurate, but it was the pet's proportions that made it cute. This new version has lost all the character that the old one had. The lines on the old one were very defined and sharp, and in comparison the lines on this one are filmsy and weak. The face looks rounded, while it wasn't on the old demi, and the tail, while much more anatomically acurate, has lost all of it's defining shape and character.<br />

I voted for the new one, though I have a couple suggestions: The horn could be adjusted to point more forward and the quills stick out a bit more. Both of those suggestions are intended to keep it in line with the old version. The line work and colouring are simply beautiful.

I think the new Demi is beautiful. Well done Vampire! =) I love the generally softer colours, and the thinner line art. However, I do agree with some that the 'mane' should flow a bit more - but to be honest it didn't on the old one either. But it'd be nice if it did, it wouldn't seem so..static? XD

Oh whoa, this Demi looks wonderful o: I love the sleek look, and the shading/highlights overall seem better ^.^ A few little things to stand out to me though. I think that the tail is a little large, though this may be due to the fluff of it xD<br />

THis is really nice. Although, what I have to say has been said by other people. Short list-dreads (or..matted hair? O.o ), the tail (should curve more IMO),and the unnaturally straight horn.<br />

I'm totally with Roshu and Mintbean. The horn is somewhat vexing, but overall the new Demi is just so much better than the old one. P: I also agree with MC on the dreds issue, but again, it's problem that could easily be fixed. I don't see the markings being gone, they just kind of 'shrunk,' which probably is to leave a lot up to the imagination when designing one's own Demi. If it's the hip marking that people are missing, you can see it sneaking a peak out from behind the back leg.<br />

I voted new. but id like to see that hind foot tucked in, the ears enlarged, the tail shorter and more curved, daker shading, and the eye made more distinctive. I do prefer the horns new position andf while the lines might be a little thin I prefer them to the massively chunky lines on the old one.
I'm actually fond of the redraw. The horn looks rather odd, but that's a minor detail. Altering the angle could easily fix it. And the head could be longer/larger. Other than that, I don't see any of the other 'issues' people have. XD I love how it looks a lot furrier and pump; the current demi is kinda skinny to me.

Oh noooooooes... ;o; I love my little Demi as he is, but it's true they do need an update. Wouldn't it be better to just redraw the old one with thinner lines? Otherwise, the mouth lacks definition on this one, the tail looks a bit crooked (I would suggest making it curlier like the old one, it was cuter)... That's the thing that bothers me the most really. I think the body altogether looks a lot less defined compared to the old one... Well, it's probably just me, because I liked the fact the Demi was quite skinny with kinda dopey big paws. I actually prefer the old one. The new one does have more sophisticated lines, and the tail looks much better. But I think the new one has lost the expression the old one has. As some people may have pointed out, the old one has a slightly childish and/or teenagerish look that is completely lost here, in my opinion. Although they look very similar, the new one lack the expression and attitude the old one have, hence the new one looks kind of boring to me in compare. I aslo personally like the old one's more skinny breast - it contributes the the childish look. And I think the new one's horn looks a bit off - pointing up and not forward. And, yes, I kind of like the somewhat clumsy (compared to the new one) and sharp lines of the old one, it looks a little punky and, again, childish/teenagersih. (Alright, I'm a fan of the old one <img src=/images/smilies/6398_emoticon_wink.gif border=0> I do see that the Demi could use a revamp, but it has to be AT LEAST as good as the current one. Otherwise there is no point!)

Oh... I just love the newer version. If anything would need to be changed, it'd be the horn and the tail, which I do believe others have talked about. And, I'm concerned about how the Reborn Demi would look if it -was- revamped, since the only reason I chose to get one was because of it's look (that I love).

If you keep anything on this, this first of many redraws of the newer Demi, please keep the head-fur. It reminds me, quite literally in fact, of the headspines on one of my personal fursona characters that represent myself. To be honest I think the new Demi is perfect, except for the tail, I don't know what it is about it but I don't really like it. Then again, it may have just been so well drawn that I made something up too... The tail just looks angular and unnatural, Otherwise, simply amazing.

I agree that the horn looks completely off--it's not disturbing any of the hair/fur around it, so it seems to be two-dimensional; and worse, it's in the wrong position and at the wrong angle relative to the head to actually look like it's rooted in the bone of the Demi's skull. (I'd redline this to try and illustrate what I mean, but I'm not sure if that would be okay by the admins.)<br />

I'd recommend bringing the visible hind leg in closer to the rest of the body, in the more compact stance that the current Demi art has--with less of the belly visible. --Ah, I've figured it out. The way it's presented right now, it looks as if the Demi is sitting on something rounded, so its near hind paw is curved down and around compared to its backside, but the forepaws and the tail appear to be resting on flat ground, so they don't tally. Definitely bring the hind leg in closer, and change the angle on it--and possibly bring the tail up off the ground as well.<br />

You've also added some fluff at the Demi's "wrists", which I think may be a misinterpretation of the cobbiness in the current art--I don't think its feet are fluffy so much as it has very large paws, and the large paws/cobby limbs really appealed to me in the old art. My recommendation would be to remove a lot of the little "locks" of fur up around its head, and smooth down the furring on the back somewhat. As it is now, with all the little tiny strands, it looks way too busy and not as stylized as I'd like.<br />

Speaking of stylized, you've definitely gone the right direction in evening out the lineart. The old lineart is very ragged and improperly tapered in places, which tweaks with my sense of perspective. However, I also think the proposed new lineart is far too narrow, especially on the outside lines. It looks to be about a 1-point line in Photoshop; I'd recommend upping the internal lines to 2-point, and the external ones to at least 3 and possibly 4 to make the Demi actually pop off its background.<br />

And coloration and markings...hmmm. The colors on the proposed revision look like desatured versions of the coloring on the older art. I say bring the saturation back up--bright colors are good, and increase the stylized look of the creature! Since you're making the torso wider, make the back stripe proportionately wider, and make the spots bigger and more visible. I miss that lovely bold color it used to have... The tail seems maybe a bit stretched too far. Agreement with the chest/belly issue. Also, the mane looks a little off to me, like for some reason it's feathers instead of hair, also gives the apperance of being a solid mass, rather than being composed of individual strands. The hind leg also seems... maybe tucked too much inward, where the pose calls for it to be a headon view of the foot. On the whole, I do prefer the old one, but I do think this one can be brought up to par and/or redone.

HAHA, Kamil, you're right. Something I loved about the old one was how slender it looked, with small shoulders and chest. Also. The eyes. They are too...empty? Somehow the old expression seemed more calm, sweet. This one looks like it's saying "Orly? You think so?" which...bothers me. xD The eyes on the old ones...are much softer, more round, as far as the iris goes, and the shape overall was more almond, less comic-y. I would miss that expression dearly.

Sorry, Tsume. : I agree with all the crits offered so far - the lines are too thin, the colors are washed out, the legs look boneless and floppy (especially the hindfeet), the tail is flat and attached at an odd angle, the cheeks and chest look too round and over-floofed, the horn is too vertical and straight, and the mane is too... umm, fat? Stubby? More melty-plastic-y than hairy? Not sure how to explain it. <img src=/images/smilies/smiley_xface.gif border=0><br />

First things first, I want to say that I like how it's still got the demi-pose, and nearly nothing has been changed besides what needed to be. :3 I think the demi needs a remake as much as some of the most outdated-looking ones, and this one is very much appreciated (on my part). <br />

I get the odd impression the new one is pooping. Tail is oddly lifted and something just doesn't feel right about the way tail, feet and lower part of the body work together - no symmetry and no grace. Remember - a key to beauty is symmetry!<br />

I wasn't preaching..... I was just stating my opinion..... Besides everyone is giving constructive criticism, no one is like "OMG, THE NEW DEMI IS SO BAD!!!" Everyone sees things differently so everyone sees different flaws.....
Personally, I love the shading and paws, I see nothing wrong with them. I just feel that the horn should be curved, they are in nature and the tail should be more like the old demi.

Ohh this vote was close, but I chose the redrew, pretty much for its mane that people seem to not like.<br />

HexadecimateThe horn seems oddly placed. The angle of it seems like it sticks directly out of the top of its forehead. Also, the surrounding hairline is just weird. I was never a fan, but I like the eyes and markings more on the old one. They aren't wide enough and are too high and I don't like the straight line marking blending into the eyeline instead of curving around the outside of the eyes. Overall, there just doesn't seem to be much space on the head.
But I love my Dark Matter Demi. ._. I got her only a little while ago and love her more than ever. Meh, but its okay if the Dark Matter Demi changes I'll just put up a picture of the old Demi on her profile then.

After reading everyone's comments I've started to notice how the tail is really detached from the rest of the Demi. That was probably the weirdest part of the new Demi I saw but I didn't notice it until now. ish stupid And I forgot to mention how I love its paws, they look cool. Meh.

I prefer the old Demi. The old Demi's eyes have more depth and a sweetness to them, but I find the new Demi's eyes more vacant in comparison. I am also rather taken with the old Demi's rich colouring, eye-shading and mane's appearance. I also love the spots, and would miss what they add to the look.<br />

Uh, I am not really liking the new version of the demi too much...I prefer the old one....the new one seems odd...the tail could use more work...it looks "detached" from the Demi's rump, it's paws need more shading, like in the old version, the horn seems to point exactly straight up, and has a massive "poofyness" to it's chest. The "quills" or spikey back hair doesn't seemed to be detailed enough and for some reason, this new version looks a little too.....er fat, it looks like it gained weight some.....but this is just my opinion though, I think it might need some more tweaking

i agree with the mane being incorrect. So is the horns its like they just drew a triangle and called it a horn. The tail is also incorrect. the botto is so straight and the top is not. it looks very awkward. pls keep the old one. This is more of degressing than progressign the demi.

i think the old one is WAY better. Light years better. It is dimensional vibrant and has more character to it. The new is flat and the colour is really dull. I think that it looks like it was drawn by a 5 yeard old and then edited by their artist dad so hed get a good mark on the project but he tries to make it still look like a 5 year old did it.

I also feel that the Demi's tail is one of its best distinguishing features; I totally will miss the jagged underline and the dark splotch of color on the tip. <br />

The outlining is too thin. If you compare it to most all of the other pets on the site, it really doesn't.. go. It doesn't have Subeta style, if that even makes sense. The mane looks like a long feather duster that was taped on to the Demi's head. It would look better if it were, I don't know, less quill-ish looking? The problem is that it doesn't look like fur and that it seems detached.<br />

Keith, I think we need your word on this one: Will ANY of the "special" color demis be changed? Can you say which ones?<p>I assume that the BR demi will get a revamp so that it's in a different, bloody pose, and we know about reborn staying the same, but what about <b>graveyard</b>, <b>dark matter</b> and <b>angelic</b>? Will a <b>spectrum</b> demi be created?</p>
Hm...I have to say I really like the old Demi's eyes and how bold the horn style/position was. But the shading for the new Demi is beautiful and well done. I really like the chest fur style there. The tail, I must agree with Jacket, seems a bit odd especially the straight portion. The 2nd tuft of fur on the tail maybe could be downplayed a bit? I've noticed too that the bottom of the Demi's tail seems to be straight as if it was resting on the floor. That seems weird to me, but also normal. I didn't notice it until I looked closely so it isn't a big deal....
The DM Demi is completely OFF from the other Demis to me.. =[ Dunno why youd make a comparisson to IT versus the whole species.<br />

to me, the new one looks like a fanart drawing of the old one. really i think both of them are nice, but neither seem to have it completely right. this makes it hard to choose, because i basically like them both but i'm not super crazy about either of them either, and it's hard to say why.
My first thought was 'New. No question.' But now I think that the horn should be tilted forward a little, and the tail should follow the curve of the old version's. Do that, pump up the colour and outline in the new version, and I'm a follower. An improvement on the old one, for sure.

Reniphae, the redraw compared to the DM demi though... it just seems a little too... poofy and cutesy. I like it, I just think it's hair needs to look a little less poofy, and more sort of... sleek? The hornand mane bother me only becuase it seems as if the mane is not even attached to its head... and the placement of the back paw needs to be brought out more like placed more outwards than inwards..cause sitting like that just makes it look weird to me..I tried to sit like that and it it hurt my foot .. the position of the horn on the new version gives it's head a two-dimensional appearance. in addition, the newer one is thinner in odd places, makes it seem out of proportion (on a small scale). barring that, its a great upgrade! the eyes and face look much better -- softer. <img src=/images/smilies/6398_emoticon_smile.gif border=0>

Yes, I think Javvy has it right... I said the head was small, but really I think it is the nose that's bugging me... it just seems squashed.... Perhaps it just needs a longer neck or something... I dunno, that's just me.
Also, I REALLY don't want the reborn Demi's changed. hugs namesake Julia x[ I spent a lot of time saving for that color because it's my favorite pet of all time.
The only thing I really feel looks weird about the new demi is that its mane looks like feathers and its horn is pointing upwards. But other than that I like it. I still prefer the old Demi though.....

The new one is very pretty, but... it's missing something. I wish I could figure out what it is... I prefer the way the horn on the old one is pointing forward, but I'm sure you had some sort of anatomical reason for changing it. I like parts of the re-draw but something is most certainly lacking. I'm not sure what it is, perhaps it is the horn. I'm torn between which to vote for.
This is the hardest poll ever. There are pros and cons about both of them. To start, I'll do the old one. The old one isn't really that bad. It's a little.. blah, and it needs a touch up, for instance, the outline is way to thick, and the feet are very.. oddly shapen. The NEW ONE, however, the outline seems very very faint. The horn is straight up and down, and needs to be tilted a tad bit. I don't have them side to side right now, but when I was looking at the poll, I think I noted that the muzzle on the new one is a bit flat. THIS IS JUST MY OPINION. I love both of them, really... I don't think I'll vote, though.

I like the older demi more. This one doesn't have that "LOOK AT ME I'MA DEMI" look. .-. But don't get me wrong, it's drawn well.
I also like that his head isn't MASSIVE anymore... it now looks like his neck could actualy support his head...

I love this one, it looks much more felonic than the old one did, even though that one was cute, this one is just so nicely drawn, nice anatomy, shading, and expression! ^^
I think the hair/Horn lines look a bit odd to me, they don't flow like they did on the old demi. And I agree with jessi, its to round.

The new one looks too... round to me. It seems to lose the old touches that made the demi so perfect. Don't get me wrong, it's nicely drawn, but it just lacks the old demi personality to me =/
