Hmm...I like the redraw but it irks me that it has no ears. xD Without them the fur on it's head looks really odd.
I've been peeking in and out on the coemments made about the otter.. and OMG!
Some of the things I've seen that has been complained about it beyond me, soon I'll probably read "The otter doesn't have a fish tale, that doesn't seem realistic to me"
It's a fantasy creature dang dilly! If it had a arm sticking out of it's head, I'd understand the reaction, I don't want to be rude but come on people! If you don't like it, adopt another pet, theres more then enough to pick from EVEN though you've already have one and don't like the redraw! X.X

First off, I must say that the new art on this otter is just gorgeous; it's definitely better than the old one. I do, however, have some critique on anatomy though. As quite a few others have already mentioned, the tail doesn't look like it connects with the body very well. It also looks a bit too long and thin to be of much use to the otter. Maybe a different perspective on the fin might also help? Asides from the tail... I think the front arm could use a little work and the forehead could probably be shrunk down a bit. All that said, I love the addition of the extra spots and those eyes are absolutely stunning. :3
the new version of the otter isn't really the same old Cute Otter as the older one... I got my otter because of the old style and I'd Like to keep it that way really, the new one looks more doglike with that nose and it looks far more longer and the tail is skinnier, to me it's turning into a dog rather than An Otter, the spots is nice though but the front paws seem a bit weird and the fluff.. down there isn't really.... drawing away the attention from it and so On... that's why I vioted for the old Otter Hoping That I can stay An Otter fan.. and Not an Ontra fan
I'm definitely getting an Otter if they get this revamp. 8D The only things that don't look right are the shape of the father back leg, perhaps the back of the thigh could be a little... meatier. (xD) And the tail placement doesn't look quite right... but I love the eyes, and the snout... 'tis so cute!! adoringstare

I preferred the pose of the old one. I know this new pose is very similar, but I like how bunched up the old one is. The way his little pudgy arms are right under his little chin. Aaawww! I'm also not a fan of the fur at the base of the left hind leg. It looks a bit out of place and draws attention to... um... that general area. quickly changes the subject As for the chest fluff, I'm not that fond of this double row thing. Still, other than those trifling concerns, I think it's pretty awesome. I, for one, welcome the new spots. They make the otter more interesting, they give them a little more style. The head looks great to me, the shading is nice, the fur on the tail flows better... thumbs up and a cheesy grin from me!

Anyway the anatomy looks really wonky to me in some places especially around the shoulders and on all the limbs. It could use alot of redlining. I'd give all the critiques I could see but last time I did that I was shunned for it so I won't bother this time x3 It's certainly an improvement from the old one and is pretty cute, but I think there are parts that could be improved, and removed(random spots, wtf?) and I hope that is done before it is updated :3 Overall, good job arteest who drew it~ ♥

looks quite good, but there is something in the face i don't like... it's the shape of the face, i think. and the eyes. most of the revamped pets look at the upper left/right corner of the picture :/ that just looks strange...why isn't it looking at the owner? it just looks so wannabe-cute when they look up like that. and the connection of the body and the tale doesnt' seem to be correct, like someone took a tailless otter, a fake otter tail and glue <img src=http://www.subetax.org/images/smilies/smiley_xface.gif border=0> as if it's not a part of the otter
eh, not so fond of the new otter. I kinda liked the "duh" face on the old one. The new one... meh. It's alright. It just I don't know... lost some of its character. I'll miss the old one.

My comment about only artists being able to comment about art was directed at... um, whoever it was that laughed that so many people thought they could criticize when they aren't even artists. I can't remember who, but it's dumb logic. While we're at it, how about none of us watches and enjoys or dis-enjoys a movie because none of us are directors? Haha!

i think the new otter is really great it looks more real and more intresting if this new one wins i might just get a otter myself. its eyes are so good and love its paws!

I think It's because of the Galactic Otter. I mean, think about it. The Dragon, for example. When I saw the Galactic Dragon, I just knew right away that it was going to be revamped, because the Galactic color was way more advanced than the common colors so they had to revamp it. I think each time a new color for a pet gets released, it is just so much better than the common colors that they have to revamp the pet itself. I agree with Ariel about the face being too low, though. And I don't really know about the spots, it just doesn't look right. I am enjoying Subeta's new style of art. I did enjoy the old pets but the new pets have better shading, expressions, and other details. Kudos to all of the wonderful artists who strive to create wonderful pets & colors that will dazzle the heart & soul! ;D
I love the coloring in this particular revamp, its nice and smooth, with a nice warm and rich feel to it. But I do find that I like some of the charm of the original better, I find that the muzzle is to narrow for this particular animal, along with the forehead being a bit to tall and the tail is a bit to thin. I think the pose is nice but I miss the smooth more circular composition of the original otter, and maybe it is because the tail loops through the otter's legs instead of behind them which would give a bit more depth to the pose. I must say that I do adore the revamps eyes and the addition to other spots upon the body.

I do like the effort that's gone into this revamp, but the new piece of art lost the nice "flow" of the older one. I think if the body (and tail) made more a circle than they do now, that would help a lot--it's difficult to describe exactly what I'm seeing without being able to redline it, and I'm not sure if the artists want me doing that, but. I think the back needs to be more curved, and the tail definitely more curved (and a larger fin would help, too) so that there's more of the "looped" feeling there is in the current art. Hopefully that makes some kind of sense. XD

This revamp is the first one I haven't liked. I, too, feel the forehead looks a bit large, and I don't think it's as cute as the otter. Ah, well. I don't have an otter, so I suppose the outcome doesn't affect me. It's just a pity; the current otter is adorable.

Out of interest, does anyone else think that Swampies would be more popular (apart from having their old style back) if they weren't zapped into so frequently?
The forehead is too large and the tuft of fur on the left side of the pelvis makes it look awkward, me thinks.
And since when has the constructive criticism comments here become a board for debate? Wasn't it only allowed in the forums? People have different opinions, so what. DesetLai might have come across the wrong way to some people, but I can see both sides' views on what was said, and she blatantly stated she didn't mean to offend.

Out of interest, why did they not do a poll on the Swampie revamp? The change is at least as much as between the 2 polled otters. Personally I really dislike the new one and as soon as you revamp the Darkmatter one, I will (proberbly) be remorphing my pet.
