Thank you, Jade. Seriously, if you ever have any questions, you can always mail me; I rarely bite. XD I might get involved in a chatty conversation with you, as I have a tendency to run off at the fingers XD, but that's about it. <img src="http://images.subeta.org/smilies/6398_emoticon_smile.gif" border="0" /> On the multiple answers point, yes, it used to accept them, however, the last time I tried, it didn't work. Which really wouldn't have mattered one way or the other in this particular case, as, as I said, I hadn't even noticed the typo until well after the Trivia had posted (I had lost my glasses in Wal-Mart about a month or so ago, and whoever found them kept them, so things are all a bit blurry for me on here), and we cannot change the answers after it has already been added.
It's not a cop out, misspelled and correct are mutually exclusive terms. If something is misspelled, then it isn't correct. I personally cannot access some of the edit pages where there are misspellings. Also, as I said, I didn't even notice that it was misspelled there, as I type in the answers, and never copy and paste them.
As I've said, if it were ONLY misspelled on the site, then that would be a different issue. However, it is spelled correctly more places than not, including on the explore map. so it obviously cannot be an intentional misspelling.
Once again, minno, I have NEVER said take it as it's on the page in general, ONLY that, in the SPECIFIC case of Advent Calendar only, it was spelled correctly on the page. That was never, ever a rule, as you've stated. If you are going by what anyone else has said regarding this, such as posts in the Help Forum, then they are simply wrong. I've caught a lot of answers by users posted there that were incorrect and corrected them in the past. It's pretty basic, misspelled words would never be counted as correct anywhere, not just here. No, deliberate misspellings are not used. Actually, Book of Doom had had a corrected spelling, DB/HQ had had erroneous information in that particular case; it was spelled correctly on the actual site. And I've always said to NOT copy and paste answers, as there are inadvertent double spaces on the site, which will also result in an incorrect answer if copy and pasted. If you actually type out an answer, you're far more likely to spell it correctly.

"Your prize's value won't be deprived Thanatoast"<br />
<br />
Of course it will, like it has so many times before, when I had answered correctly the first time around! <br />
I was given a Walker as a present, still I believe, that, if ever a trivia needed to be repeated, it's this time!

Dang it i spelled it as artic frost... DX

I figured the typo was on purpose! GAH.

dang I put polar ice fields for the last one but it was Arctic frost. Im confident I have this one though I didnt even have to think that hard on it.
Ahhh...typo. (smacks head on keyboard) Usually copying in the answer directly from the page it is found is the way to go, I should've thought more about it. I just thought perhaps the trivias were suddenly becoming case sensitive. 0_0<br />
Better luck next time!
Better luck next time!
For what it's worth, when I saw the misspelling, I sMailed DebiLee right away to get some clarification and she answered pretty much immediately. I know that fact doesn't help the ones who answered with the misspelling, just throwing it out there as info.

After reading through this, I realize I had the right answer afterall and the site had a typo (which I copy/pasted without knowing it). I feel even more cheated by that because I got it right, like a lot of other people did, and lost because the site has a typo.

I beg to differ. It was right there on the page. I'm getting sick of these trick trivia questions. I knew I should've put polar ice field. I'm rather peeved about this.

I figured that since it was spelled artic frost ON THE SITE, then it had to be the correct answer.<br />
I'm sorry for targeting the staff, but you really should have checked where the answer was and if it was misspelled, then correct it (or ask someone else to).<br />

I have to jump in here again too. Common sense tells us that if we copy and paste the answer directly from the site where the clue is located then it should be the correct answer. Often times on pet sites names are purposly misspelled just to be different. I did notice it was spelled in two different ways in two different spots on the site so there was no way to know which one was the intended spelling.<br />
If we cannot get it from quoting the exact saying from the site I'm adding my request to the others that this prize is reused.

I would have copied and pasted my self had I found the answer... But I didn't find it, so I didn't even have a 50/50 chance of the prize... <img src="http://images.subeta.org/smilies/6398_emoticon_grin.gif" border="0" /> I would like to add my vote to the "please reuse this prize" pile... <img src="http://images.subeta.org/smilies/6398_emoticon_grin.gif" border="0" /> I need him for my gallery... <img src="http://images.subeta.org/smilies/6398_emoticon_grin.gif" border="0" />

Why is it incorrect? I copied and pasted directly from the quote in the polar ice fields. I thought it was a trivia question because it was a misspelled answer.

If common sense tells us that Artic Frost is not the correct spelling but Arctic Frost is then the same common sense would tell us that 1 + 2 does not = pig but it equals 3.
Hopefully DebiLee knows this frustration is not directed at her, but at the technicality involved. But I have to jump in too. This is a site that has made up names for made up lands (items, species, etc). I would think 'common sense' would dictate that the answer should be verbatim where the answer is found, regardless of how a dictionary would spell it, but how Subeta has spelled it. Even if it is spelled differently elsewhere on the site, numerous times even, it is still spelled 'artic frost' where the clue was. "You start to remember all the stories you were told as a kid about people never returning from the artic frost..."
I'm sorry, but your answer of polar ice field for the trivia was incorrect.<br />

I kind of knew it.<br />
I don't really care though, since the Walker isn't one of my favorite minions. ;p

And now, reading my response, I see how completely and utterly unintelligible it is. Way to win, me.
On the other hand... didn't the trivia used to accept multiple answers? I recall it had. o.0

I would hazard a guess that most of the people who entered artic frost as the answer know how to spell Arctic. I feel strange on here when I speak about not answering a trivia the correct way. I don't want to come across as angry or manipulative in that "oh if I complain enough the prize will get reused" but I have the choice of saying what I feel or silence. Debi's feelings are important to me too and I don't want her to feel attacked or come read this and feel bad afterwards. So .... yeah I spelled it artic but know how to spell Arctic =D
Your prize's value won't be deprived Thanatoast. You'll just have to sit on it awhile to sell it high, is all. Like my second Reindeer Calf. Price deflate, I wait. It goes high, I sell. Some people just need to learn to wait and hoarde if they want big dollars. I think, if the trivia for a reprize was easy, that'd mean bigger bucks for you because, in addition to getting a second one, you could possibly buy a few more that you could sell for several mill. in the future. And trivia prizes generally inflate in worth sooner than retired holiday items.

It's doubtful that there is any way for the staff to reimburse all of you who don't know how to spell "arctic". I, for one, think that the prize should NOT be reissued, and, if it is, at least for a very difficult trivia. In the same way that it is not fair that a typo on the site prevents people from getting the prize, it's not fair to deprive those who DID win of their prize's value. <br />
<br />
I don't know if that made any sense. I just woke up. hadkajshd harbl.
<br />
I don't know if that made any sense. I just woke up. hadkajshd harbl.

So I suppose foreign members should have a perfect english vocabular, cause I answered 'artic frost' and had no idea even where to search for the misspelling issue. I wanted the Walker and now i'm really angry.

Crap. My own fault, but I still really wanted that prize ;_;

I spelled it as it was in the text for the answer for the trivia and as it is spelled in the URL and I thought it would be best to answer as it is found on the site - especially when it is that way twice - I also remember from some trivia that we should always use Subeta related answers for Subeta specific trivia not general knowledge trivia - now I will remember to correct the site's misspelled words which I thought was called that on purpose because the writer wanted to call the place they were describing with that particular spelling to set it apart from real world spelling. I think it was a great minion.

I also don't think that trivia was fair. In that part of the Polar Ice Field where it first mentions the people never coming back that is how arctic frost is spelled. If it spelled correctly farther on that shouldn't count because some of us never get past one or two clicks. But specifically, like I just said, when it first mentions people not coming back is where it is mispelled. I think the response "nothing misspelled would ever be accepted as a correct answer, as was said multiple times on a past Trivia" is a cop-out.
I don't think the trivia was fair. If nothing misspelled could ever be counted as correct then it shouldn't have been misspelled on the site. I noticed it was spelled incorrectly, but thought I should answer it the way it was on the site. Its very disappointing because I really wanted that minion and I had the right answer.
I didn't even know what the last one was, so, I didn't answer it. o_o<br />

Eh, now that that's out of my system. You're still awesome and my favorite staffie, Debi. <img src="http://images.subeta.org/smilies/6398_emoticon_happy.gif" border="0" /> And it would be great if the prize was re-used since clearly there was an issue with the answer.

This time's ambiguity is not a valid excuse, while the reindeer or owl issue was?<br />
<br />
Definitely no need to apologize, Debi, but for fairness sake, Walker should also be reused!
<br />
Definitely no need to apologize, Debi, but for fairness sake, Walker should also be reused!
Oh that stinks. >.< It's always been "take it as it is on the page", I've never heard this "answers are never misspelled" crud before. Debi, you're my favorite staffie but this is like presidential elections here. I know most certainly that past trivias were misspelled or miswritten answers because of how they were written on the page. What was that last one that had issues over spelling... Book of Doom? Something. And there was a big fuss over that one because of a misspell or some such issue. I put "artic frost" because I was confident that it was always to be put as it was written on the page. That was the rule. But now the rules are just... cut open and dragged around in dirt. Now if the answer isn't easily straightforward I'll have to jump on the 50-50 bandwagon and just guess which answer is right. <img src="http://images.subeta.org/smilies/6398_emoticon_sigh.gif" border="0" /> So not what I want to wake up to on the weekend... putters
Smile DebiLee! Most of us still love you because this whole spelling issue isn't an issue at all and certainly isn't your fault.. But to answer your other question.. I know that I would LOVE for this one to be re-used... I didn't get it... Thanks!

It's always stated that people should use the correct spelling for places for trivia. o.O Every single time this sort of thing comes up it is always, always said that correct spelling takes precedence over everything else. Heck, it was even mentioned in the other comment board for the last triva. <img src="http://images.subeta.org/smilies/smiley_sadface.gif" border="0" />
Please for the love of my sanity Debi reuse the Walker Yuri is not a happy demon..he wants his umm cat thing.. and I sure as heck don't feel like dishing out some crazy amount in trades..

Apologies there. <img src="http://images.subeta.org/smilies/6398_emoticon_smile.gif" border="0" /> I'm trying for easy ones for the holidays like October was... but it just doesn't seem to be working out for me this time for some reason... Maybe I'm cursed! XD
Nestly, one last time, I have no idea who you're quoting, but I've specifically said to NOT take spellings from the source code, because some of our non-English speaking as a first language artists have multiple spelling mistakes there, which cannot be changed, or we'll lose the item image. I've also said that I'd never copy and paste an answer. And the website, as I said, does not just have it spelled incorrectly, which would be an entirely different matter; it's, in fact, spelled correctly more places than not. Also, I did say that I hadn't noticed it, because I honestly hadn't. And I'm actually equally frustrated that people blame their lack of checking for correct spelling on us. If I make an actual mistake (like not knowing that the Trivia has issues with symbols, for example), then, yes, I'll happily apologize, and have, But I won't be apologizing for the Trivia not accepting incorrectly spelled answers.

Debi didn't make and doesn't control misspellings around the site, nor should she have to be responsible and/or apologize for there being those misspellings. I believe there is a Sticky in the Forums for correcting such mistakes - in Main, I think?
Shadow, if you had actually read my posts, I said that I did write one, but then Keith said that the format is going to change completely, so it would be pointless to post it and then just have to edit and change everything for the new format.

Never mind my latest comment about the FAQ.. I somehow thought that this:<br />
<br />
"I had one written but then Keith said that the Trivia format is going to change after the site recode, so there was no point to adding it."<br />
<br />
Was in regards to a new trivia, not an FAQ. Clearly, I need sleep.

A simple, 'I apologize, we made a silly spelling mistake on the site. I didn't realize this and we'll try not to have this happen in the future' would be fine. <br />
<br />
But some staff members seriously sound full of themselves sometimes.<br />
<br />
Instead I hear this: 'nope, sorry, it's your fault! Even though the website has it spelled wrong, you should've known, even though we clearly suggest you take the spelling from the source! Oh well! Too bad! Even though a lot of people made the mistake, they should've known since we posted a warning about it forever ago somewhere that you can't see!"<br />
<br />
Honestly. I'm sorry it's just like, some people only want to sound right all the time. A simple 'sorry' would mean so much.

Ok so I'm not alone here ^^ That deer looked like voldemort (honest!) and it was reused.. I say the Walker should also be reused.. But I guess that depends on the number of winners, doesn't it?
I would love to see the prize reused it was cute. I think the staff is doing a good job, I just needed to whine and now I feel better lol
And Debi, if it'll help, I'll bang pots and pans until you reuse this one - and the last one LOL

I liked the prize, but I don't like it enough to go pay obscene amounts for it. <br />
<br />
I don't know why the staff seems to be so opposed to a Trivia Guideline/FAQ/Whatever anyway.. every time we beg for one, it goes unanswered.. Now, I could be wrong.. maybe there IS one in the works, but to the average user, understand that it LOOKS like you don't think it's that important.

I actually missed the last two Trivias in a row, and now have 2 more minions to buy from someone else LOL

I really like it, it looks like an evil bear, and I like both evil and bears. xD It would be great if it could be reused. (I lied to myself before, but if you're going to re-use it then I could stop now xP)
Well, usually, there's a huge clamor to re-use them... I'm trying to figure out if people didn't like this prize or what exactly. I thought it would look spiffy with a Nightmare Kumos. <img src="http://images.subeta.org/smilies/6398_emoticon_smile.gif" border="0" />
I don't know where, exactly, you're taking that It's been said from, because whoever said it is partially in error; I certainly never said that, but still, it begs the question that it isn't just misspelled on the site, it's actually spelled correctly as well. If it were only misspelled on the site, like Machien, I think it is, on the one Vending Machine (Prize Get? The Engrish one, at any rate), then it most likely would never be used as a Trivia answer.
I guess it doesn't matter, anyway.. There's nothing that can be done now, I'm just making my point.. Either way, it would be great if the prize could be re-used, even if it's on a hard trivia, that would give us another chance of getting it..
It was spelled more than one way on the site, so saying that it should be what's on the site doesn't really enter into it; it's spelled correctly more places than not.
If I'm understanding your question correctly, just Maleria... although Maleria is NOT the answer! XD<br />
<br />
Thank you Debbie! <3 ok i know the answer submit and i know this for future reference now, yay! <img src="http://images.subeta.org/smilies/6398_emoticon_happy.gif" border="0" /> ive lost before because of that mistake <img src="http://images.subeta.org/smilies/6398_emoticon_sad.gif" border="0" />

It has been said that the answer should be the way it's written on the site. This avoids confusion when things are spelled differently in different countries etc. This time for instance the "Artic Frost" is a make believe place. I would just have assumed that it was a play on the word "Arctic" and was being uniquely Subetan. Lol I thought that I would just buy a Walker instead but incredibly people are asking 9 million Sp's for them.
If I'm understanding your question correctly, just Maleria... although Maleria is NOT the answer! XD
I'm sorry, but, yes, spelling correctly to achieve a correct answer is commonsense. The Trivia is an automated script for awarding the prizes; it accepts the correctly spelled answer only. No one has ever said to use the spelling on the page the answer is on, unless people have erroneously posted that on boards, which wouldn't be official; I had said that Advent Calendar had happened to be spelled correctly on the page that that particular Trivia question quote was taken from, not in general. Personally, I'd never copy and paste an answer; there are occasional accidental double spaces on the site that could make a copy and pasted answer incorrect as well.
Grrrr.. I copied and pasted 'artic frost' off the page. I wish I had taken a closer look at it before submitting. hits head on computer
slushienator- That's what I'm saying, not what debi's saying xD That's what on the site, it doesn't matter if it's misspelled.
Is it against the rules for someone to tell me if I must write the answer in full, or just the name? <img src="http://images.subeta.org/smilies/smiley_xface.gif" border="0" /> I'm not asking for the answer directly, I know it xD

Ok, I'll just try and make a mental note of it: "In addition to searching for the answer, you must also be sure to mentally correct Subeta's somewhat atrocious spelling and grammar." Check. <img src="http://images.subeta.org/smilies/6398_emoticon_raspberry.gif" border="0" /><br />

I'm not mad, really.. I just really want a Trivia FAQ... OR for all the typos on-site to be corrected.. the FAQ would probably be easier.

Wow, this one is EASY! <img src="http://images.subeta.org/smilies/6398_emoticon_grin.gif" border="0" />
I think Debbie is right. Even though I didn't enter the last Trivia, your answer should have been what's on the site, typo or not =/
I do like the prize, I'm just lying to myself xDDD I'm sure I'm not the only one who got it wrong because of that mistake..
Oh gosh <img src="http://images.subeta.org/smilies/6398_emoticon_sad.gif" border="0" /> I know the answer but I dont know wether, ok, say for example the answer was Maleria The Dark Goddess, (which it is NOT) i dont know wether we must put the full name in or just 'Maleria' Dx Good lucl everyone /;
Because, if it's spelled two different ways on the site, then the correct spelling (which is also the one used multiple times on the site) would obviously take precedence over a typo.
And that is not commonsense.. I thought about it for a while, then came to the conclusion that it doesn't matter what's the correct spelling, because the answer was taken from that page. And it helped that everyone always say "use the spelling on the page where you found the answer"

I hardly ever bother going there... evidently I have no virtual sense of direction either. XD</blockquote><br />
Just keep going left? Since it's a random sequence of directions, so better keep trying a same sequence everytime XD

yea an FAQ for the triva would be helpful with those that don't know what 'No Article' and stuff means.

Ordinarily no, but it's also been stated on OTHER trivia questions that we should put our answers exactly as they appear on the site... how are we to know which rule takes precedence? <br />
<br />
Could have also been avoided by having whoever writes the text on game pages use their spell-checker. <img src="http://images.subeta.org/smilies/6398_emoticon_raspberry.gif" border="0" />

I don't like it when prizes are reused. It makes them worthless because you usually pick an easy question to compensate for the earlier hard question.
I had one written but then Keith said that the Trivia format is going to change after the site recode, so there was no point to adding it. But still, misspelled is obviously never counted as correct anywhere in general.
I might re-use the prize... everyone keeps saying that they don't really want it, though, so I'm confused! XD
I agree with Shadowgem. People keep asking those questions, maybe there should be some FAQ page to the trivia. That way there wouldn't be any confusion..
The temperatures are below freezing. You start to remember all the stories you were told as a kid about people never returning from the artic frost...

Oh, I've got the answer xD I didn't understand the question at first.
It doesn't really matter whether it was in the News comments or not; commonsense tells you that nothing misspelled could ever be counted as correct.
Well, I guess I learned my lesson =P I didn't really like the prize anyway, I'll keep telling myself that xD This one was way easy, though.. I was 16th to answer..
On that one I honestly didn't notice the typo till wayyyy after either. I hardly ever bother going there... evidently I have no virtual sense of direction either. XD

I'm sorry, but important Trivia guidelines like that need to be put someplace <i>permanent</i> so they can be referred back to. "Oh, it was in the news comments 23 trivias ago, you should have known", just doesn't cut it.

feels like a fool I have absolutely no idea.

Knew this one instantly though <img src="http://images.subeta.org/smilies/6398_emoticon_smile.gif" border="0" />

<br />
The original text did say "arctic frost", without the "c" though X3

It's misspelled on the site, though.. It's not like it was my mistake.. And I never saw anyone saying that, I might say.. If anything, people said I should always use the exact spelling of the page where the answer was found.
This one is practically foolproof... hopefully... XD The Banko was supposed to have been used as a prize when the Manchu was released, but he got misplaced somehow. But DJ resurrected him! XD

Your answer arctic frost for the trivia was correct! Youve been given an Walker and 25sP Thank you!
I'm sorry, but your answer of artic frost for the trivia was incorrect. that stinks I copied and pasted from where I found the answer in the polar ice fields sulks

Well, actually I was thinking "the other side of subeta" was the answer. and in the same article (on Editorial) it was also called "mirror subeta". That's why I was confused it might have 2 possible answers. Then I found the exact quote in Ice Field on the 2nd turn (blame my luck, took almost a whole day to pass the first turn, lol)

should i capitalize the first letter for the new one? i dont know if that matters<br />
Nothing misspelled would ever be accepted as a correct answer, as was said multiple times on a past Trivia.

2nd to try, yay!!<br />

I took that straight from the page where I found it. I knew it was a typo, but I figured I should use the one from the page where it can be found! This is unfair >>
