Rule Change
The Terms and Conditions has been changed, to allow open discussion of other virtual pet sites, as well as any competing site.
This does, however, come with some restrictions. We will not allow trolling (NERPETZ IZ BETTER THAN SUBETA!11!?!111one), direct referral links, or promotion of other pet sites.

I used to play Neo regularly and still kind of do. Well, I don't restock or play many games, but I do go over there daily to talk to friends, check the news, and occasionally enter the poetry competition. It's nice to see that I can talk a bit about it now, but I do agree that it isn't the only great petsite out there. Rescreatu is amazing, as is Kenopets. It'll be nice to talk about some of those as well.^^

One of the pet peeves I have with other sites is the "no mentioning the competition" rule. I still have my neopets account on hand...<br />

I tend to avoid the forums on Neopets, and stick to outside forum communities made for the purpose. I find the Neopian Times Writers' Forum and Neocolors to be one of the better places to talk about neopets (and Subeta!).

Nerpets lol. XD All though it is nice being able to say a pet site with out having to worry about the "YOU MENTIONED A PET SITE" thing coming up. ^^;
Wow. This was certainly unexpected. I can't say it really effects me either way, since I can honestly say I have no interest in discussing 'Nerpets' with anyone here. Subeta replaced that as soon as I joined, and I've had no interest in going back since. Especially not with the bloated, bug-eyed, disgustingly child friendly art they have now.

WOOO! I only get on Neo for my dailies and to zap my labrat but otherwise subeta is hands down the most entertaining, best site I've been on so far. It makes the hours at work pass by quickly. And look, I can say the words booty and sucks without getting iced. Huzzah!
Subeta has been my favourite site for some time now, but Neopets was my first. If I hadn't found Neo, I probably wouldn't have found Subeta. ^^ It's great that we can discuss other sites now. Rescreatu and Etta both allow it, and I've never seen it get too out of hand at either site.
Frankly Neopets is the place to go when you're bored out of your mind on a saturday afternoon and want mind numbing "Fun" Since there are so many flash games. I love the forums here, the sense of community and just... I think people are being needlessly worried. Rescreatu and misticpets both allow discussion of other pet sites, and I'm sure there are other sites out there that do as well, and I've rarely seen it getting out of hand or other sites being constantly talked about.<br />

As other have said before me... Wow. It is funny that this should come about just now.. I was JUST thinking the past couple days about something.. My youngest daughter still plays on Neo sometimes, and has been collecting her advent stuff over there... I USED to be a seriously addicted Neopet player, until the infamous pet redraw.. that was it for me. The other night my daughter was logging into her account and after her password, she was asked to type in a security code.. I had never seen it before.. it was just a series of letters that were displayed that you had to type.. like those you see in various places when you sign up for something so they know it is a real person not an autobot or something.. anyway.. THAT is what got me to thinking.. if it were a bit easier on neopets to make points and to restock and such, maybe they wouldn't have such a terrible time keeping people out of other peoples accounts. Like if you could make 500K and up in a day easily, like here, people wouldn't be trying to find hundreds of ways to steal other peoples accounts!! I hope it never gets that way here!! I love subeta!! And I never thought I would leave neopets, but here I am and I will never go back!! <img src="http://images.subeta.org/smilies/6398_emoticon_heart.gif" border="0" />

i was also a member of few other pet site but laft em for subeta...guess i was more interested in subeta then any other pet sites! lol
This pleases me. I think permitting debates lends this site so much more sensibility and feels more adult. Nothing screams kids' site like placing spurious taboos.

I, as others do, have mixed feelings about this decision. Although I advocate the ability to speak openly on the forums, I still have misgivings about allowing such a thing at this time. Perhaps it is the cynic in me, but I foresee a much more frustrating job for the UAs and minimods due to flaming, etc. of other sites and other users membership and actions on such sites.<br />

Ah, finally. <img src="http://images.subeta.org/smilies/6398_emoticon_heart.gif" border="0" /> I've always disliked that rule, and now it's gone. Someone said it's too easy to make items and sP, and it's better where it's a challange like on neo, but neo is also cluttered, infected with ads, and really... no, I just really dislike it these days. I like that you don't have to be on subeta 24/7 in order to get by, I don't have time to devote myself enough to just gain np for example, and I just love subeta to pieces for so many reasons. The friendlyness of the users here, the fact that people don't hog their items and sit on them but actually are very generous with give-aways, so forth.<br />

I love this change, but only because it makes us all feel freer, not because I actually want to even mention any other sites. The second I checked out Subeta my Neopets days were over for good. Really, I haven't even checked back since. And thats saying something considering I was on Neo for seven years. Although it is sort of a random change, it deserves a big change! This freedom will set Subeta above other pet sites even more, for some people. I know it will for me, if that's possible! It's already my top ;D But it is a silly rule. I mean... what's so wrong with talking about something?

Can I suggest possibly a special board in the forums for talking about other pet sites? I left neopets for a reason and really would prefer not to have to hear about it all the time. I applaud the fact that you allow it now, but I think it may get out of hand and just suggest perhaps a special place for it.
Wow indeed! This is really big of you Keith. And I agree 100% with this change and the reason behind it. I think be able able to engage in some intelligent discussion about what it is that people like and don't like about other pet sites can only strengthen Subeta if your willing to listen. And I think it will make people even more interested in pet sites overall.<br />

The only thing that I at first thought was better about them were the Flash games, but then again, those took so long to load anyway. Slaytanic, I'm considered a pretty good restocker on neo, I can pull in 100K or more a day restocking (twice have pulled in 1 mil in a day) but I've still pretty much abandoned neo for subeta and a couple other sites. like rescreatu. There's more to a site than how many points you can make. I find that users on neo are VERY focused on one person being "better" than another because they have an older account, better pets, more game points, whatever. I personally don't like that attitude and it was one of the things that spoiled the game for me. There's a LOT more to a site than how easy/hard it is to restock.

I dont have a problem with this site, except it lags At times (but when It does I go back to neo), I find it way too easy, people over here (Some) are more snobish than people over there. Like I told someone else I only said that "this place was made for people who cant play Neo (no good at playing neo)" cause well in my first 2weeks on this site I had already over 50mil pure and had RSed over 60ubs. I dont even RS here anymore I come on I do my 2 quests that I do each day (3 if you count the item hunt) leave come back @ noon to snipe a bunch of junk for the recycle beast price em, and leave. By the time Midnite SUT rolls around im about 900K-1mil profit. . everything is handed to you over here. <br />

I admit that I have played nearly everywhere but I am only insanely active on kenopets and Subeta. I am moderately active on Neopets and mildly active on Gaia. This new rule change is awesome. I like to think of the virtual Pet universe as a tapestry. Every site is somewhat unique and offers new and different challenges. It is very progressive to allow the mention of other pet sites. (I know Gaia isn't a petsite but I am mildly active there.) I think it is a brilliant idea!

I, too, migrated from Neopets after Viacom bought it out. I played over there for about 6 years, joining up about a year after it began. But the slick marketing and ads drove me away, especially after the site redesign early this year. My friends over at PPT were the ones to direct me over here, specifically Cranberry. And am I ever so grateful!! I LOVE Subeta!!

I play on both Neopets and here. The main thing I like about Neopets are the flash games, and Subeta doesn't have any of those. Subeta does have much better art though, and it doesn't have like 900 stupid rules the way Neopets does. Also I like how we have human avatars to dress up here, instead of putting little sweaters and pants on our pets, that looks stupid to me.
Akakurosama - Keith has mentioned many times in the past that it is (apparently) too easy to cheat with the flash games. I don't know personally, that's just what he has said in the past. (Watch the Ask Kieth youtube vids when you've got some spare time. They are super informative and that is one place I heard him say that altho I couldn't tell you which ep.

Wow Keith - how mature of you. That's quite impressive. I played Nerpets for YEARS but practically dropped it like a hot rock when I found Subeta. The only reason I still go there is to check on my pets. (I get WAY to attached to pixels.....)

I played Subeta for a couple hours and was hooked. Neopets couldn't compare, imo. xD awesome for those who still like going there, I however, find it rather boring and it feels like hanging out with 9 year olds. I'm glad I was introduced to Subeta. ^^

Ack - I sooo liked the old rule. Just seeing the other site's name gets me tense. I had such a horrible experience with them and it brings up such lousy memories. Why on earth would anyone care about the other sites? I admit, I played on one of the well known ones for Four years... but quit the day I came to subeta.
