From a geographical standpoint Taiwan is generally considered a country. There are more than 1 criteria and they meet most of them. If complete sovereignty were the only criteria then we would lose about a third of the countries on the map.

I really don't like these letter ones. I have gotten them and I believe I got this one too, but it's always as I'm about to give up. That can't keep happening. Letters are evil cruel things, what with the straight lines and the curved lines and the forming of words. I don't like it, it's just not right!

It's actually under dispute for a LONG LONG time, lol. both china government and taiwan government claims they have rights over that island. but since taiwan government isn't really a federal government, so the United Nations, as well as most other countries still consider taiwan as a part of china instead of an individual country.
