Item not found: billboard

You may have noticed that we have recently been testing advertisements on the forums. We've run all kinds of (sketchy?!) ads, and have decided to try a new method. User Supported ads.

You can now mosey on over to the Cash Shop and buy the billboard item. When you use it, you'll be prompted for a 480x90 image, and a URL to link it to.

Right now, all ads must be approved before they display on the forums. What kind of ads can you run? Ads for your shop, your cult, your friends birthday, maybe just a message to all the forum goers? ;) If it's not allowed, you'll know when it gets rejected. (You'll get your cash shop credits back)

Note: Right now we are trying to keep ads limited to Subeta, or at least Virtual Pet Site content. This is only a test run, and we may allow more content in the future :)

This is pretty neat... if it ever opened up for offsite ads I'd definately consider buying quite a few to show off my band a bit <img src="http://www.subeta.ws:8080/images/smilies/6398_emoticon_wink.gif" border="0" /> lol
Whoever posted the one saying just 'HI' is my hero. ;-;
That was probably the best ad of them all. Well, besides the Waizard panties thing. XD
Is there a limit on the number of ads you can have running at a time?
It's a cool idea, but I hate the way some people display their adds. They make it super flashy and fast, and it gives me a headache so I have to scroll down so I won't have to view it anymore. I find it kind of annoying, when you have a flash banner, compared to a regular banner.
opps made mistake my words got all mixed up in the shop name:surprise bag tm
this a great idea.i mean there's ads for subetahq,minionmatch,shops like s you are p i s e b a gtm and sp-end. great idea.
I think this is an awesome idea. <img src="http://www.subeta.ws:8080/images/smilies/6398_emoticon_smile.gif" border="0" /> It actually made me unblock ads so I could view them.
super idea!!

Wow. That's an idea. I can't wait to see what kind of stuff people come up with. Off to the forums.
Zel
I noticed a couple people asking this, so:

The billboards stay up for 50,000 views.
Thats cool <img src="http://www.subeta.ws:8080/images/smilies/6398_emoticon_grin.gif" border="0" />
I think this is a really good idea. If it works well, it supports the site, and the ads are very nice and interesting. (I think I saw a proposal!?!? wow <img src="http://www.subeta.ws:8080/images/smilies/6398_emoticon_grin.gif" border="0" />)
Yay for removing all the other ads! I probably won't be buying a billboard anytime soon but I'm glad you guys have found a fun way to support yourselves with ads that aren't really ads. XD
..... :c
I was actually going to buy an add from that add site saying someone could advertise here.

That is a cute idea. I think it makes something that could've been a pimple on the site into an enjoying pastime. I can imagine all the birthday ads and random silliness. Kudos to the SubetaTeam!
How to remove ad-block on subeta, not that you'd want to.
go to your ad-block plus icon and right click. Go to Disable ad-block on subeta.ws(third option down). Alternatively you can also whitelist the site by adding a new filter.

By the way, I think this is a stupid idea, but hey, if people wanna waist their CSC on something no one is likely to see that's their problem.
How long do the ads stay up? Weekly? Bi-weekly?
Yay! Fantastic Idea! I cant wait to take one out for a friends B-Day <img src="http://www.subeta.ws:8080/images/smilies/6398_emoticon_smile.gif" border="0" />

Wow, this is a really cool idea! n_n
That's a really great idea! If only I had something to advertise.
Are we aloud to advertise soemthing non-subeta related? And how long will it advertise for?
HOT, i want one of these. but first i need a website to advertise....
These ads are cracking me up!

I love whoever paid $5 for an ad that says "Hi"! Great stuff! Oh, and the Surprisebag vs. SP-end ads! XD
Brilliant idea, guys!! <img src="http://www.subeta.ws:8080/images/smilies/6398_emoticon_grin.gif" border="0" /> May it bring you lots of profit!
I do not have AdBlock on, but I can not see any ads on the forums...I did when Keith first tried them, but haven't for a few days...I wonder why????
These are so cute, I feel like just refreashing a billion times to see them all (:
Such pretty colors as well~

Oh wow! Now these might be ads I'll like. <img src="http://www.subeta.ws:8080/images/smilies/6398_emoticon_grin.gif" border="0" /> How very unique too. <img src="http://www.subeta.ws:8080/images/smilies/6398_emoticon_smile.gif" border="0" />

Falorie ~ I fell for it, too XD

I love all the new things you're adding! ^^ Though I have nothing to advertise..
Now that's a cool idea. <img src="http://www.subeta.ws:8080/images/smilies/6398_emoticon_shocked.gif" border="0" />
'Sick of all the Surprisebag ads? Click here!'

Ah damn! I fell for it <img src="http://www.subeta.ws:8080/images/smilies/6398_emoticon_sad.gif" border="0" /> lol. The wizard 'bring me panties' ad is great too.

I LOVE these. I'm thinking about buying a billboard for my cult. <img src="http://www.subeta.ws:8080/images/smilies/6398_emoticon_shocked.gif" border="0" />
What a unique idea! I'm so happy the subeta team continues to come up with ways for us to support a site we love so much.... and not jump to selling out. I'm so proud!! single tear falls

Wow, this is really a great idea. <img src="http://www.subeta.ws:8080/images/smilies/6398_emoticon_smile.gif" border="0" />
Oh nos. Now I have to see ads for certain shops I try to avoid <img src="http://www.subeta.ws:8080/images/smilies/6398_emoticon_shocked.gif" border="0" /> lol

I like the idea that these are run by the users though <img src="http://www.subeta.ws:8080/images/smilies/6398_emoticon_heart.gif" border="0" /> I'm surprised they're only 500 credits.
This is really a brilliant idea, so many possibilities. 50,000 times? That's quite a lot. <img src="http://www.subeta.ws:8080/images/smilies/6398_emoticon_smile.gif" border="0" />
This is going to be fun! <img src="http://www.subeta.ws:8080/images/smilies/6398_emoticon_grin.gif" border="0" />

This really is a wonderful idea and is just one more example of how Subeta really does work to suit the users of the site instead the other way around like most sites!

This is a wonderful idea Keith! I applaud this move. =)
This sounds really cool, but I can't see the ads <img src="http://www.subeta.ws:8080/images/smilies/smiley_sadface.gif" border="0" /> I dunno why. I never had an adblock before, and I could see those Google text ads a while back, so I don't know why I can't see these. <img src="http://www.subeta.ws:8080/images/smilies/6398_emoticon_sad.gif" border="0" />
Stupendous idea! At least people (hopefully) won't whine about the ads anymore. I don't think I'll find myself taking advantage of this, but I know a lot of people who will. Can't wait to see what those people throw out there. x3

not good this is a step closer to ads from a bully corporation
Thius was a great idea -claps-
What a fantastic idea! A way to get ad revenue without surrendering the site to outside advertisement, and keeping it all under user control. I can think of several things I'd like to advertise, too. A perfect solution!
This is a really neat idea keith!!!!
Everyone is saying they like this idea, and I would, maybe, if I understood what it meant... o_o; I'm confused, can anyone explain it to me a bit further? I'm not too bright.
If this extends to be able to advertise non subeta content, id do it. <img src="http://www.subeta.ws:8080/images/smilies/6398_emoticon_smile.gif" border="0" />

Oooh. This promises to be super-special awesome. C:
such a fun idea...i look forward to seeing how inventive my fellow subetans can be... <img src="http://www.subeta.ws:8080/images/smilies/6398_emoticon_grin.gif" border="0" />
Now that's a great idea! Adds never intrest me on sites, but it's never really bothered me either, but this makes the site ALLOT more personal, least when the site would like to use adds in the first place. To boot the adds may actually be of intrest! 8P
