I would just like to add a sense of urgency to the earlier news post. Earlier in the year, as posted in the news, we had a security lapse that resulted in user account information being released to the internet.
This was caused by a type of attack called a MySQL Injection, which also resulted in things like NPC accounts being taken over, and things of that nature.
Now, since that happened we have requested four times for you to change your passwords in various mediums. Today we asked again.
There has not been another exploit, there has not been another breach of security. The same exact list of user information is floating around, and users who did not change their information the past four times they've been told to, are now paying the price.
So, one more time. If you have not recently changed your password, I am asking you to please change your password. I'll make an ultra cool free gift everyday for a week next week, if everyone makes an effort to protect their online identity. I promise!
We aren't just trying to make your subeta life hard by remembering a new password, we are trying to make sure that all the work that you've put into your account isn't lost.

darkfeathers has informed me that she is unable to remember her password,is there any way this proble, could be fixed?
you see she used the same password for her email

Here's hoping the bribe works so those who haven't yet do change their password too. Thanks for all of the heads up about doing so.

I changed mine everytime you asked!
Does this have anything to do with why I've been getting 'request to retrieve password' to my back up email for the email I registered with on Subeta?
I have not been on Subeta in a week or so, and within the past week I have also been getting these emails asking me to confirm my request. Anyone else? - Please send me a comment/message. Thanks.

I changed my password, but it is remembered on my computer... should I change my PIN too?

Yay, lost 60 million because of this =)
I changed me secret word.
So... even if we changed it at the last notice... we still have to change it again? I'll just change it again... not wait for the answer...

I logged on this morning and all the SP from my vault is gone but 2K. I had 2 million on hand from yesterday while I was rsing and when I logged in this morning there is only 700K on hand. This has never happened to me. I have changed my password on several occasions so I am not sure what happened. Can anyone shed some light?
changes password immediately
I was too lazy to do so before, but I have now

Dude websites get hacked left and right. When I used to be active on MySpace I was always getting spam messages from friends of mine whose accounts got hacked. It may not have been MySQL, but still, sites do get hacked. Subeta is not alone, and in fact it doesn't even seem to be as frequent.

Now theres a bribe.. ? Honestly, there will always be security problems, obviously. Does anyone know WHO is breaching security? And honestly, for anyone who thinks this is your fault because your password is easy or whatever, thats not the problem... Its not because people are just guessing..
It has to do with the MySQL Injection, x_o Then they get the Hash (bit encryption password); and "unhash" it. Then there is your password! With your username AND email.
O: But for some reason, I have only seen this happen with subeta?

Type of computer has no impact on whether or not a website can be hacked, I'm afraid. Unless someone was able to hack into your computer itself and steal all of your information, but I doubt that was the case.

AWESOME IDEA TIME!!!
Instead of free gifts let's have tons of Token Shop restocks. Especially of the Ornate Floral Pitcher and the Nightmare Potion!
I know, probably won't happen. lol But it's worth a try, right?
And to all the people here complaining, you do know that no website in the entirety of the internet is 100% safe, right? Subeta seems to be doing a bang up job, imho. At least they are being straight forward and honest. We should all be changing our passwords for everything (other sites, forums, messengers, MySpace, Facebook, etc) at least once every three months or so anyway. It's just good sense.

Only came back online and saw guysinger's comment/reply. Ditto to you being allowed your own feelings on this. I was under the impression this was from a different time. That may have something to do with my annoyance (i.e: "when will all these security breaches end?")
I realise they are doing everything within their power but if this is a separate occasion then it doesn't seem to be good enough to stop it from happening. No amount of "buttering up" or free gifts or "we love our users" changes that. Yes, Subeta IS different from other sites. I'll grant you that. Along with the positive differences come the negative ones too. I see this to be a negative one, obviously. It doesn't make me want to spend as much time or money here if my details are to be leaked. I hope you can understand my perspective.

I think during those attacks last year I lost some of my items. I was gone most of the time so I had no idea how it happened, but I've been missing my Kitteh, Black cat, and other various items. Sad that people would do that, especially on a site like this where I feel no competition to "be the best" or have the most items (whatever). It's just a site where I go on when I'm bored and facebook isn't working right. o_O
Password has been changed. Very excited for the free gifts. I hope I remember to get on every day next week...

Jeez, again? SQL seems to have its fair share of problems, ne? Changed, again. Thanks for the heads up, and I'm curious to see what these "ultra cool" gifts will be!

You're awesome, Keith. But I would've changed my password without a Free Gift bribe.
And guys, a good idea is to jot down a bunch of password ideas on a peice of paper or in the Notepad program on your computer (unless you share computers with other Subeta users) so you're prepared for whenever a site tells you to change your password. Another idea is to jot down all the words, numbers, and patterns you use in your password to have many, many password ideas.

I have a bad habit of switching passwords back and forth.
This time I have come up with something completely different, so I feel pretty safe now.
Glad to know that the staff is taking measures to make sure our Internet safety is good all around, and not just on Subeta.
