Not the most mature response from those complaining about the lack of maturity around here. XD
This book is epic fail.
I'm not going to give a reason why, I'm just going to flame you and them complain about you having an opinion.

And yes, before anyone flames me, that was a joke.
This item is downright epic. -vaults- |3 I love the sense of humour here.
Thank you for the free gift.

I think it's so sad that users behave in such a way that bring on items such as this. <br/>In other news, this book is lulzy and like many who've posted before me, I want one IRL. PROPZ.

EPIC!

I love this book. I would say I need this in real life, but only to help me. I do not post anything mean towards anyone unless they have TO'd me.

To the artist, <img src="http://images.subeta.net/smilies/6398_emoticon_heart.gif" border="0" />
YES
<img src="http://images.subeta.net/smilies/6398_emoticon_heart.gif" border="0" />

..lol, if only.
I LOVE THIS.
Oh my goodness. I want to shove this at a few people and force them to read it.

Also: Please stop getting butthurt about constructive criticism some artists, because of people making huge stinkfests from getting a bit of constructive crit. I can't get ANY when I want it :/
Teehee
I love you artists. <3
Lea
Hahaha, this is awesome! XD I love the staff here. <img src="http://images.subeta.net/smilies/6398_emoticon_heart.gif" border="0" />

Nukenai pretty much wrote how I feel about it in a lolarious way. =P Guys, come on, let the artists have some fun.
OH MY FRICK.
YOU ARTISTS ARE AMAZING.
Wonderful. Fantabulous. Lovely. Humorous. Hilarious. Amusing. Awesome. Total win.

<img src="http://images.subeta.net/smilies/6398_emoticon_heart.gif" border="0" />

YESSIRREE. Best book ever. Seriously. ALL MY PETS MUST READ. ;D

As for the whineybutts.
Please, just be quiet. It was people like YOU that this book was made for.

And you know what?

It's VIRTUAL. PIXELS PEOPLE.
Yesman pixels of win, that is. <img src="http://images.subeta.net/smilies/6398_emoticon_heart.gif" border="0" />

I love this not just because of recent events, but because as an artist myself I've occasionally been on the receiving end of NON-constructive criticism. I love having my stuff critiqued, and I think it's a helpful tool for improving myself as an artist, and I certainly don't mind if people don't like something I make or draw... they're entitled to that and everyone likes different things. That doesn't mean, though, that they have the right to be mean and rude about it, and even if it's just over the internet, and even if it's something that you can just... not respond to and ignore, it still hurts when someone makes a rude comment like that to you. I'm not an overly sensitive person, but I still think that there is no reason to be rude or verbally abusive in critique.</blockquote>

QUOTED FOR EPIC TRUTH.

I support this item!
So much lulz to be had in the news comments XD lighten up people Jesus lol thisiItem is AMAZING, I might have to get more of them 8D

This book made me smile. :] Nice job artists. <img src="http://images.subeta.net/smilies/6398_emoticon_heart.gif" border="0" />
Looks like most of you have read the book =)

Or pick it up, sell it to me and at least profit from it, if not enjoy the hilarity of it.

But really people, come on! This is not an item drawn to be a malicious act, it's an item (a free one at that, remember) drawn for a little satirical humour. Don't get your panties in a twist because someone's having a little fun.

Let's all be as grown up as possible and thank the artists for their brilliant hard work.

Thank you artists <img src="http://images.subeta.net/smilies/6398_emoticon_smile.gif" border="0" />
...win. xD
Hahahaha! Thats the perfect "get a clue" book. Even the artists are sick of the whining. <img src="http://images.subeta.net/smilies/6398_emoticon_smile.gif" border="0" /> You go artists!
At everyone being snarky about the item.
Do you think they would make the item if there was only a little nonconstructive criticism?
Look back at some of the old news post with revamps, item releases, whatever. Getting shot down is not very encouraging, is it? I think they are entitled.
<b>Quote:</b><blockquote style="padding:5px; line-height:15px; background-color: #FAFFFF; border: 1px solid #000000; font-family: georgia; font-size: 10;">Humph, so much for staff neutrality. The longer I'm on this site the more disappointed I am with the spoiled whiny entitlebitch attitude of some of the users.

I love this item. +1 to the artist <img src="http://images.subeta.net/smilies/6398_emoticon_grin.gif" border="0" />
Hehe. Best item ever. x) /must stockpile. Kudos to the artist who drew it, kudos to the staff regardless, and kudos to Megatron/person who changes his name a lot for that thread. ;D
DEAR ARTIST OF BOOK.

I'M SORRY, BUT FAIL. EPIC LULZ ONLY ACHIEVED IF THIS BOOK WERE A WEARABLE SLAP MARK ON MY HA'S FACE.

/ME SOBS IN CORNER FOR DREAM UNREALIZED AND YET AGAIN ANOTHER DISAPPOINTING ITEM RELEASE. OMG Y DO U H8 US SO MUCH???!
Nice! Thanks!!! (PS- you artists rock<3)
Haha, I think this was totally called for! Good one Subeta <img src="http://images.subeta.net/smilies/6398_emoticon_smile.gif" border="0" />

Nice to know that rude people CAN get their comeuppance.
I love this item so hard~ to the artist who drew it, you are made of awesome

Hahaha!! Whoo this made me laugh.XD
I'm keeping this one.<img src="http://images.subeta.net/smilies/6398_emoticon_wink.gif" border="0" />
shrugs

Seems pointlessly snarky

Humorous.. but pointlessly snarky none the less. Two wrongs don't make anything except a bigger mess and draw lines in the sand where none really needed to be.
I LOVE it! Some people on this site really NEED to read it!
Why are people getting all worked up over a book?
There's no need to get offended because of it. It's just for fun. I love seeing that at least most of the subeta users have a sense of humor <img src="http://images.subeta.net/smilies/6398_emoticon_wink.gif" border="0" />

But Seriously, there is a HUGE difference between whining like a spoiled brat and acting like the adults we all should be and giving constructive criticism. It's just pretty pixels, there is no reason to explode over something.

The staff love hearing our opinions about things here as users. They care about us and show us respect, so why can't we all just do the same?

This is an awesome book though! Kudos to the artist! <3
LMFAO <img src="http://images.subeta.net/smilies/6398_emoticon_heart.gif" border="0" />
/clap

It never fails to amuse me how bloody worked up the minority will get about the littlest thing. As a staff member on another petsite, I CHUCKLE HEARTILY at this joke! I love these kinds of items.
that seems really mean, but oh well
BEST. ITEM. EVER. <img src="http://images.subeta.net/smilies/6398_emoticon_heart.gif" border="0" />
LMAO. I love it, it's like a subtle finger to all those who can't be polite with criticism and learn just because you have an opinion, doesn't necessarily mean anyone gives a damn. X3

Genius, I love it. <img src="http://images.subeta.net/smilies/6398_emoticon_grin.gif" border="0" />
How did this item turn into a full-fleged controversy?

Get over it people, IT'S AN ITEM. Pixels. Dots.
You guys act like it's your job to complain about it.
Ahahaha, this is great.
...
Come to think of it, I should read this, I'm terrible at giving critism. I'm too nice. X'D
Constructive criticism is allowed. It always was, it always will be.

Back when I was on staff, I liked users telling me what I did wrong. It helped me improve. This is why I love the userbase, we can rely on most of them to criticize politely. While I was not an artist, I worked with users daily, and I liked having them give me feedback on what I did.

This is something I still want to see, a questioning userbase, users that have enough faith in Subeta to tell the staff than they disagree and especially WHY they disagree. I want to see it now, as another user.

I don't want to be on a petsite populated with thoughtless sheeps, or rebels to anything, that will disagree with everything staff say, because they feel like it.

Right now, Subeta is nowhere near that. And, I sure am glad it ain't that way.
@sugarmuffin1572

Opinions and constructive criticism are always welcome. If not, the news comments would be closed since a long time ago.
Insulting, being a whiny brat, bashing an artist =/= opinions.

sorry, but that is something i can understand. it's mostly written in the heat of the moment and maybe regretted a little later.
when i see revamps i don't like i say nothing as a lot of people like them and as i didn't like the pets anyway (and my pets haven't been revam, ped so far - don't know how i would react <img src="http://images.subeta.net/smilies/6398_emoticon_wink.gif" border="0" />)
but what i find highly annoying are the pictures with lines drawn "it should look like this" as if the artist was totally incompetent - which, what we all know, they're not.
Now* stfu about butthurt.

rofl.
HINT HINT

no stfu about butthurt.
If you feel targeted by the item then perhaps you should think about what you say, because obviously that means youre thinking about how it effects people.
Hmmm...is this the first step in telling us that our opinions no longer matter? Or is this just a sarcastic joke by the staff? <img src="http://images.subeta.net/smilies/6398_emoticon_raspberry.gif" border="0" />
I think everyone who is feeling anger right now due to this book should look at images of obscenely cute animals: http://cuteoverload.com/
WHY SO SRS?

get the fuck over it, people.
You should be able to pick up as many free copies of this one as you need. Because some people need more than one. <img src="http://images.subeta.net/smilies/6398_emoticon_wink.gif" border="0" />
Aha, yes! I need this in real life! I know a few people who need it...
Thanks alot for the free gift! Yay for a book to read to my pet, yay for one more reading drive point, yay for a creative item sarcasm on and yay for people who can't just take things easy

Damn I'm gonna buy several copies of this. Priceless.

And if your complaints are "beyond constructive criticism", shut your mouth, nobody wants to hear it, you'll only make yourself look like an asshole. If you're going to say something, AT LEAST say how you believe the piece of art in question could be better for you.
NOT "oh my god my pet is completely ruined, the artist who revamped my poor pet ought to be keelhauled. Change it back RIGHT NOW!"
We don't need spoiled little shits around :/
Ciralas_wolf -

IMHO people need to stop thinking everything is all about them.

Great new idea, totally necessary, IMO. In fact, it managed to out several more people who are jackasses. xD
User not found:
Oh god.

This was all meant to be a joke, and some idiots here are turning it into something SERIOUS.

This was made for a joke, not because artists are butthurt about the past rude criticisms. Stop being such a jackass and learn that, you morons. e_x

Stop giving the staff hell just because you're butthurt about this item. I mean, they can't block you or fight back, so I feel pretty damn sorry for them. <img src="http://images.subeta.net/smilies/6398_emoticon_sad.gif" border="0" />
I think this is abit cruel itself, the person probably already feels bad and having so many people getting at them would be hard to deal with itself. proper constructive criticism = this book is not. People need to learn to not react when someone says something that could sound cruel/mean and not be hurtful back.
Keith STAFF
yawn.

"I must say I can't stand people who winge for "constructive crit" all the time when... sometimes your crap is just BEYOND that."

There is absolutely no reason to ever be a complete asshole. You know, 'if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say it all.' I really don't care if you hate something so much and can only think of poor things to say about someone's work, just don't open your mouth. Don't debase someone just because you can.
User not found:
Holy crap, you guys. Arguing over somethin' liek that just made me lol : ) Anyways, I thought the book was absolutely brilliant.
THIS JUST IN: Users are allowed to scream obnoxiously at staff about what terrible people they are, and how their awful disgusting art completely destroyed their favorite pet.

But staff are not allowed to defend themselves in any way, OH NO, that's abusing their power and being tyrants! Users are allowed complete freedom (and abuse) of speech, but staff, as they are staff and are far separate from us users, ARE NOT ALLOWED TO VOICE THEIR OPINIONS.

You people amaze me.
lol do like
HAHAHAHAHA
Thanks for the gift.
+1 for all Subeta artists.
I must say I can't stand people who winge for "constructive crit" all the time when... sometimes your crap is just BEYOND that.

Also, when people complain that "you should always add in something nice to balance it out!" I'm sorry, what? This is a moral quirk, not a necessitty.

Now, importantly, before I get flamed to hell, this is just a general comment and has nothing to do with the issue that actually caused the need for this item... just the general overuse of the phrase!
<b>Quote:</b><blockquote style="padding:5px; line-height:15px; background-color: #FAFFFF; border: 1px solid #000000; font-family: georgia; font-size: 10;">And, if you feel targetted by the item, perhaps a little introspection is needed.</blockquote>

Hahahaha I heart this. I heart this item, too. I love when staff sticks up for themselves and I love it even more when it makes people get their panties in a bunch.

As a final thought: Respect-If you want it, give it.
Its just a book. If it offends you, dont pick up the free gift. Nobody is forcing you to.
LOLING RIGHT NOW! xD

Thank you for the book! <img src="http://images.subeta.net/smilies/6398_emoticon_smile.gif" border="0" />
infinite +1 to the artist.
Ohh, this is amazing. 8D
This item made me seriously giggle. X3 <img src="http://images.subeta.net/smilies/6398_emoticon_heart.gif" border="0" />
I wish books on Subeta were actually READABLE. Many users could benefit from learning a thing or two about constructive critique.

Also, since when has staff been neutral? There are plenty of items based off of drama from users and events related to Subeta. For example:
<label id="item_King_Content_1" onMouseOver='showPlus("134461")'><img id="King Content" src="http://images.subeta.net/items/minion_kingcontent.gif" class="non_wishlist" style=""/></label><span class="wl_add" id="plus_134461"><a name="item_King_Content_1" href="#item_King_Content_1" id="wishlistadd_134461" onClick='addWishList("King+Content",134461,"item_King_Content_1")'><img src=http://images.subeta.net/add.png border=0></a></span> <label id="item_Sour_Grapes_1" onMouseOver='showPlus("13846")'><img id="Sour Grapes" src="http://images.subeta.net/items/minion_sourgrapes.gif" class="non_wishlist" style=""/></label><span class="wl_add" id="plus_13846"><a name="item_Sour_Grapes_1" href="#item_Sour_Grapes_1" id="wishlistadd_13846" onClick='addWishList("Sour+Grapes",13846,"item_Sour_Grapes_1")'><img src=http://images.subeta.net/add.png border=0></a></span>
snerk Maybe the next free gift should be a Waaaahmbulance for all these people who're taking offence to this.

Aww, are the big, bad artists insulting you? Well now you know how it feels, jackoffs.
To the artist that made this item: you are made of absolute awesomeness. You just made my night <img src="http://images.subeta.net/smilies/6398_emoticon_grin.gif" border="0" />
I think I'm going to need to hoard these. The sheer amount of stupidity in these news posts alone gives me quite a good start on my list of who to send these to.
Haha, so many people here need to read this.
And, if you feel targetted by the item, perhaps a little introspection is needed.

In the end, you're only 1/100 000 of Subeta. Make the 1/100 000 of Subeta you are using worthwhile. <img src="http://images.subeta.net/smilies/6398_emoticon_smile.gif" border="0" />
Dirnt. We decided to have users block someone before warning for harassment because we felt it was the best solution to an ongoing problem, not because we wanted to be cruel. Handling harassment on a case-by-case basis wasn't working.

Now, please remain on-topic - which would be in regard to the item.
Thanks guys for the free gift <img src="http://images.subeta.net/smilies/6398_emoticon_wink.gif" border="0" />
__

btw petsites isn't serious business, people... we are here for fun. It's entertainment. If you're manages a petsite like your life, you have a serious problem

(^obviously the phrase above doesn't apply to staff)
wow its a damn book!
Dirnt the only people that should feel insulted by this book are the people that cannot tactfully voice their opinion about art. Why are you getting so worked up about something that wasn't even directed at you?

Or are you one of THOSE people...?
What I hate the most is when people say "bawww, it's just criticism, get over it and get used to it". CONSTRUCTIVE criticism is always a great and useful thing. When you offer no advice on how to improve the artwork, and instead devote your comments to simply bashing it and complaining about it, that's hardly constructive. Nobody needs that. You're 100% allowed to dislike or even hate a new pet or item, but outright insulting it and/or the staff, like a git, brings everyone down, especially the artists I would bet.

BUTANYWAYLETSBEHAPPYANDOPTIMISTICNOMOREFIGHTINGYAAAY 8D
"Someone got butthurt over someone saying they didn't like their art. "

hi there's a difference between 'i don't like this' and 'omg this sucks who's the dumbass who hired you you ruined my favourite pet BAWWWW SOMEONE FIRE THIS TERRIBLE ARTIST.' therefore - 'constructive criticism, learn it.' <img src="http://images.subeta.net/smilies/6398_emoticon_wink.gif" border="0" />
Come on now. I think this item is very much needed. Hell, it doesn't even have to BE about the one isolated comment, but several building up as a whole. Yes, it is most likely the recent comment may be the reason the making of the item, but that doesn't mean much. Admit, that even if this was released at a different time, people would still feel the need to complain it was because of a different event.
<b>Quote:</b><blockquote style="padding:5px; line-height:15px; background-color: #FAFFFF; border: 1px solid #000000; font-family: georgia; font-size: 10;">But I'll let you alone to your worshippers not before I get smacked with a warning just for not being a sheep. :3 </blockquote>

UAs don't warn users for disagreeing with others.

And, agreeing with someone does not make you a sheep.

Honestly, the book was meant as a joke. Enough people have been able to tell that it was a <i>joke</i>. <img src="http://images.subeta.net/smilies/6398_emoticon_wink.gif" border="0" /> We often release items that relate to what has happened directory on subeta, and this book is one of them. <img src="http://images.subeta.net/smilies/smiley_xface.gif" border="0" />
OK this is funny <img src="http://images.subeta.net/smilies/6398_emoticon_grin.gif" border="0" />
Okay, fine. One more. But just because I couldn't resist. To the tone of "Cruelty, verbal abuse, and such, has no place on Subeta. It's the message this item is getting across," I just had to point out the utter hypocrisy and complete invalidity of that statement on this site. In case you have forgotten, this is the ONLY popular pet site that basically said "lol, if someone is an ass to you, just block them! We won't warn people for insulting or harassing you unless they find a way around the block and keep attacking you!" Apparently, staff don't warn you, but rather make an item to insult you. It's reminiscent to the situation with cpvr, which I regret supporting at the time.

lolWOAH, how'd this turn into drama? XD;;;
I kind of thought of it like "How to Clean Fanboys"... you know, just kind of poking fun at some of the things you find in fandom communities. But taking it seriously.. that's like admitting you're a gross smelly fanboy. XD; (Which is your own fault, because anyone can be a clean fanboy, and anyone can put thought into good criticism, so it shouldn't offend anyone who's willing to try.)
Just for the record. Being petty /=/ defending someone you care about.

In any case, the item is great and I read it to Ankokutairiku, who will now be capable of properly critiquing art should he need to. xD
Wow I love how people only have memories that go back one incident.

The consistent rudeness of many users to all Subeta staff clearly does not apply here!
The reaction to this proves the point as to why this free gift was even made =) Way 2 back up reasoning!
Has anyone bothered to talk with this poor girl, because I have and she feels very badly about making the comment. I am pretty sure she didn’t mean it literally when she said she wanted to slap the artist’s face. Can we just remember that none of us are perfect and let this thing die already? <img src="http://images.subeta.net/smilies/6398_emoticon_sad.gif" border="0" />
Oh, no, hun. I read it.

But who DREW it is pretty darn irrelevant. The idea still stems from the same place, especially since the person who did draw it is undoubtedly affiliated with the person(s) insulted. But good job on ignoring the rest of my post just because of that. I pretty much expected your response to be something like that.

But I'll let you alone to your worshippers not before I get smacked with a warning just for not being a sheep. :3

Well, since you asked my dearest Gunblade.

This item basically translates into "B'awwww! Some jackass on the internet was mean to me! So let me abuse my power as an artist on the site to create an item specifically for the purpose of publicly demeaning them!"

You can argue that the need for this item has been building up over the years, but really, we know why it was drawn and put out, and for staff to be that petty is just unacceptable in my eyes.
I just want to make it clear that this was not made by any of the artists recently attacked for their artwork =)

Great! I was just about to say that I want to go to your house, kill your parents and pets in front of you, and then make you eat them. But is only a threat over the internet, is not serious at all.
Just like pedophiles, it's in the internet, it's harmless!
Wow I missed something....
XD

or, if you can't voice why you dislike art without being a rude jackass, you should refrain from commenting. It goes both ways. Just because someone is paid to do art does not mean they should be subjected to some of the bullshit comments people make...
One internet to <a href="/users/Porcelain" rel="Porcelain"><img src="http://images.subeta.net/icons/staff.gif" border="0">Porcelain</a>
AWESOME.

People are entitled to their opinions, yes, but they should express them <strong>politely</strong> and without unnecessary hostility.

There's quite a large difference between stating your differing opinion and being an obnoxious brat <img src="http://images.subeta.net/smilies/6398_emoticon_wink.gif" border="0" />

Haha, thanks xD
i agree with <a href="/users/cuckoo" rel="cuckoo"><img src="http://images.subeta.net/icons/user.gif" border="0">cuckoo</a>...while the item is funny, it's actually kind of sad items like this have to be made. <img src="http://images.subeta.net/smilies/6398_emoticon_sad.gif" border="0" />

Actually, someone said they'd like to strike the artist responsible for the latest revamp, which is why the book is how to GIVE criticism, not how to TAKE criticism.
Keith? Did I ever say I needed help with criticism?! XD
That is brilliant.

I believe the immaturity of hurtful comments FAR surpasses that of this item.

How is it 'immature', exactly?
haha "idiots". i'm actually really sorry that these kind of items need to be created.
Someone got butthurt over someone saying they didn't like their art.
@Dirnt, are you serious? Have you SEEN some of the things said to artists? There IS no 'neutrality' here. There's the simple fact that you do NOT threaten to physically harm a staff member, merely because you don't like a piece of art they did.
Humph, so much for staff neutrality. The longer I'm on this site, the more disappointed I am. The immaturity of this item is beyond belief. -o-

I think someone needs to read this book. x3 But no, it is funny.
