You keep saying "it doesn't look hippo-y enough," stuff like that. But you have to remember that these are Subeta animals, not real world. They're <i>based</i> off animals that we have, or animals from legends and myths of our own cultures, but they don't have to look identical to them. I personally like that they're making it look a little less hippo-y now, with the longer ears and limbs. The placement of the ears seems a tad... odd, I think, and the muzzle could stand to be a bit thicker, but overall I like it.

NO PLEASE!!! I love the cuteness of the old one MUCH better! It looks too old for the little hipposaru! I love my little guy the way he is!

It doesn't add up: It has better anatomy, a bit more detailed and realistic (though still obviously something you can't see in the real world, you know what I mean.) however the wings simply are reverted to the original -original- Hipposaru's wings. Second, I always liked the Hipposaru as some sort of pudgy, slow species. This one has grace to it, which I in my opinion don't find appealing, and though it was true with the old version, the new version upped the fluidity of the legs. Usually, something with short legs has a short neck, and that something with long legs has a long neck. (read: cranes. zebras. GIRAFFES.) and the legs here are a bit long. With barely a neck, those shoulders are virtually right next to its jaw bone. Maybe lengthen the body slightly (those internal organs and the spine needs space) shorten the legs and move the front legs a little back. That should work.

P.S. WTF is with the shading on the back? It makes the hipposaru look like it has an exoskeletal shell on its back. Too dark, extends too far down the back and the contours are awkward.
I prefer the new one; the old one wasn't very detailed and didn't get a whole lotta love from the staff or anyone else. However, the wings of the new design are too... sharp, I guess. Too plain and concise. One of the best things about the older design was that it had ACTUAL wings, not... circle-and-three-feathers 'wings'.

New one wins, hands down!! Longer legs, better toes, cuter face all combine to make him look more intelligent. The wings can be smaller because now his legs are long enough to run. he now longer looks like he sits on the couch eating cupcakes all day.

. . . sorry for double-post, but looking at the original Hipposaru, that one doesn't have a wide muzzle either. I think the somewhat-large body of this one made the snout look smaller, but it was not significantly made smaller in comparison to the other one.

I love the revamp. I don't care that it doesn't look as much like a hippo as the other one did, but IT'S NOT A HIPPO. The wings could be bigger, but that's my only complaint. I'm digging the okapi-ish nose <img src="http://images.subeta.net/smilies/6398_emoticon_grin.gif" border="0" />

This new Hipposaru almost made me cry.
HOWEVER, I am a big girl and know how to give constructive criticism. xD
So, erm, I agree with the other comments on the more natural looking spots (these look like jewelry adornments for elephants, which I could see on the Galactic or the Angelic or the Glade even, but natural would be better for the regular ol' Hipposaru), bigger wings, less... floppy/thick ears? and a wider nose.
But in addition to making the legs shorter or the belly bigger, I think the back needs to be made longer. Looking at it, the pose makes it look like the spine is as long as the face, which is strange looking, especially since the legs look so much longer than we've been expecting in HIPPOsaru.
Then as an aesthetic preference, I think the, erm, toes look a bit too doggish. I'd personally rather they were made dinosaury or hippo-y, but I could live with dog-toes on 'em. x3;

this is a very nice attempt at a revamp, but there's still some things off. I voted for the old version because:
-The muzzle's too narrow for a hippo-based creature.
-The legs are a little too long for a hippo-based creature.
The artist(s?) in charge of designing might want to reconsider the darker red back marking, 'cause personally, I think it seems slightly out of place. Maybe make it go onto the head, too?

It's wonderful, especially the markings, but... Larger wings, please! I love the big beautiful wings on the old hipposaru, so I voted 'no' on the new.
Voted for the new one 'cause i do like it better than the current one. But I personally am not a fan of the spots.
I love the markings and the legs, but the ears seem a bit...off...to me. Maybe it's 'cause I don't know hippo anatomy very well, but I'm sure that after a day or so, I'll love it like my cat. <3 By the way, I love my cat, so it's a compliment. c:

P.s. I LOVE the markings down the face. Look very Indian. So awesome! The 3 bands are beautiful.
The eyes are beautiful. I personally think the wings should be more feathery like the current Hipposaru though. And I think the ears are a little too thick.

This is really great. The Hipposaru definitely needed a revamp, since it looked plain.
Like a lot of people said, it still needs a few improvements like making the snout more wider that's all. But that's all I would have to say, keep the markings though since they're really nice. ^^

I actually really love the new design. Once again(as in past revamps), I don't see the need for critics to strictly reference an actual hippo (Even if it's based off of a hippo's anatomy/structure), considering it has wings and other features that makes it a totally unearthly species. <br/> I like the new markings because they are <strong>original</strong>; they sort of have an indian/moroccan flare, and the colours accent eachother wonderfully. <br/> There are two things that bother me most on the newest revamp, but you don't have to take my critisizm to heart.. It's simply my opinion. ^^ <br/><br/> Firstly, the ears. They pose no resemblance to either old hipposaru, and frankly look like canine ears. To me, it just looks off. I quite like the old hipposaru's ear shape better. Also, the back.. plate, I guess? It would be much nicer if I could tell what it was. Perhaps adding texture or better lighting to the plate would make it more clear as to what was on the hipposaru's back, as at first glance, I thought it was some sort of blanket/cloth saddle rather than a marking/plate. <br/> Thanks for the lovely revamp option, artists! :3

I think it's cute. It's a lot to swallow because it is so very different from the last but I like it. I would definitely suggest the artist change the wings though. In my opinion we have a chibi potion to create chibi things and the wings on it currently are definitely chibi like. I think we should have some real wings on our hippo and leave the chibi ones for the chibi color.

Just an FYI, people, hippos don't actually have horribly short and stumpy legs (and neither do elephants, btw). They're actually pretty skinny legs for such a large animal.

The ears seem a little disproportionate to the wings. Otherwise it looks awesome and I love the markings.
I generally agree with some of the other comments here that it's better drawn than the other one, with more interesting details, but I would never guess a hippo was its basis.

I voted new because, lets face it, it'll be done either way and the thing NEEDS the update. However, I do agree with the points made by Tiki, especially in the muzzle needing to be wider and the wings being larger. Seems everything is getting chibified all around these days, and while its cute, a person can only do so much b'aww-ing before its just, "ANOTHER toothache? Grand." when they see something. n. n;; (I am NOT saying the artist has no talent-- they do. I especially like the Bindi markings.)
