Introducing Forum Groups to the forums, where you can create a group and allow people to join.
Each group has a hashtag (#) which when called on the forum, pings everyone. For example, if your group has the hashtag #subeta and someone posts that on the forums, it'll call everyone in that group.
The focus of the groups is to make it easy for you to get called to a thread that might interest you.

Seconding what Fai said - it would be really good if the groups people are in didn't show up automatically on their forum posts. I'm already seeing a few people who are in about 20-odd groups, and it can stretch out the white space at the end of their posts something silly. Great new feature, though.

Seconded to billionth'ed the suggestion for group descriptions. Some groups may just be for fans to talk, so may be a way to ask a question to a large number of people (like #mac), some may just be for updates on something, etc.

It would be really nice to be able to add a description because I'm not sure if I should join some groups or not based from only the name.
But it's a nice way to gain some interest in the forums and I know certain groups will find this very useful.

I agree with Fai, that would be useful!
But otherwise I really like this idea.

Nice. Pretty useful for those waiting lists on commissions.
It'd be nice to have a "browse" feature though.

Interesting though I don't think I'll be using this.
I hope there will be an option to not see what groups someone is in on the forums. As of now I saw a few who joined a lot of them and it stretches the post down even more.

Our cult now has this for members only. My question is once a member is accepted into this forum group will any member be able to initiate a thread or can only the owner be able to do so. We would like our cult members that decide to join this private forum to be able to comment at will but not spam. Will we be able to do that at some point?

Is there a way to make them "Open" or "Closed" so that if you create a group you don't have to approve anyone if everyone is welcome to the group? And maybe even make the group "Hidden" so it doesn't show up in searches and you have to give someone a link to get to the group? (That way someone couldn't just look at a list of cult members.)

Agree that these groups need descriptions. Also, I really hope that this doesn't lead to excessive pinging :/

Oh and if we could have a description for the group that would be nice too. Sometimes the title can be vague if someone plans to use it for something specific!

If we could edit our hash tag then that would be extremely nice if ever it would be needed. I know that it would be much easier to just edit it if I need instead of deleting the group, losing all my members, remaking and having them join once again.

this is neat 8) there should be one everyone could join to let people know of threads with new Wearable Previews.
i'd do it but i'd leave it to someone more active in the human avatars thread ;o

Oo wow Id think that would be annoying having so many.
If Im reading it right. whenever someone in "said group" posts "said Hash" in the thread you get pinged.
Someone could go nuts like every 5min with it. lol

Ohh, this is gonna be pretty useful for cults (and maybe even that rs&chat thread!).
AND, also, I can imagine it being really useful for the Token Shop RS Ping thing!!
