If you want to make Subeta a social networking site, find ways that keep it related to Subeta, and not patchwork things from Twitter or Facebook.

If I wanted to experience a creepy facebook feature, I'D GO TO FACEBOOK. Subeta has been taking on alot of features from outside sites lately, and imo, it's more annoying than anything else.

I don't plan to use it and if/when it's possible to turn it off I most likely will.

No, I'm not wondering what my friends are talking about, when I'm not around. My friends are allowed to join other friends groups as well. I hope there is an option to turn it off. I like to give my subeta friends some privacy. All my subeta friends are people whom I do not know in real life. In real life I have a few people wich I can really call my friend, but they don't care much for facebook, internetgames and things like that.

I have accounts on social networks, but I'm always bored on those sites.

Don't forget that this site is a petsite first, then anything else. But it's nice for people who want facebook like stuff like this.

I don't see why anybody is complaining over this, it seems like a nice feature.

I'm sorry but why is ANYONE complaining about this? I recall Keith saying in the past that he wanted Subeta to focus more on creating a social community (re:network) more so than just being your run-of-the-mill petsite....I think it's cool that at least we're trying something different....besides, this new feature isn't really doing anything that your friends feed can't do with a tiny bit of effort so I don't get the concerns over privacy. Personally, I find this tool to be really useful on Facebook, and while I don't really care enough about making friends on here I can see how some people would benefit from it.

i don't see the point of it considering how easy it is to access people's forum groups or look at your friend feed. i don't care about the privacy issues it just seems unnecessary.

I don't have enough friends to make this feature work or something, but yeah, completely cool. From what I understand, if your friends are friends with the same person then it'll show them to you? Hey, if you like your friends, surely you'll find someone cool that two or more of your friends are friends with.

I totally agree with Prozac; Don't see a reason to be so offended by this feature wich is, as said before, quite redundant. Just don't use it.

This seems like a redundant feature because it just uses information you could easily find already if you were willing to put any effort into it. I'm a bit disappointed that the "new" feature wasn't about a fun or interesting change.

I just think it's funny to say 'are you suspicious about your friends' makes it sound like we're trying to find out if our online friends are worth having as online friends at all. Are they cheating on you? Want to find out quick? Here's the feature to watch them better! Seems silly to me. lol. Though, I do think it would be nice to be able to disable it if you wanted. Nothing wrong with making new friends- it's not like you can't ignore any 'your friend has a friend you might like' or something.. lol. And as Keith said, not like anything is private anyways. The only time it is, is on smail.

No this is not Subetabook. It is Subeta. This is a feature for the forums. Very creative. Soon I'm sure we will be able to turn this off.

Not liking this at all. I didn't want a FB acct, and this seems too much like this. If I've got friends/enemies from real life, and they know someone who knows me here, then how do I get away from them? I hope that there is a way to turn this off soon.

also, everyone referring to how B'AWWW SUBETA IS SUPPOSED TO BE A PET SITE, the site basically revolves around the community. these features are added because it makes it convenient to make friends and see what your already existing friends are up to. if you don't want them to see your posts, why are you even friends with them? if you don't want any features like this, go back to neo or whatever. people were able to see whatever you post/comment already in the first place, this just makes it slightly easier. if people wanted to know what you're talking about, they would've found out long ago.

I have a very strong initial dislike of this feature already. I've never created a facebook, myspace, etc. because of features like these. I have family, friends online and off, and even an ex that plays this game. I don't like the idea of them suddenly discovering each other when I have already deliberatly chosen to keep some of my social circles separate from the others. Please tell me there's an opt out feature.

l fail to see why everyone is having a temper tantrum over this. I can click through your profile or do a forum search to see every post you've made. While I'm looking at those posts, I can click on the icon to see what groups you're in. Then I can go back to your profile to see what cult you're in, although I probably figured that out looking at your forum posts, as it's so often in people's signatures. So, there's nothing here that I couldn't find on my own anyway. Doesn't seem very creepy or stalkerish to me.

It's still just a game site for me, because I don't have internet friends. So, I won't be using the feature. It's as easy as that for you, too! It's really not necessary to stomp your virtual foot and slam the door on your way out over something so insignificant. Because it just makes you look silly. Save your temper for really serious business, like rollbacks! Thank goodness those are history.

Actually @paintz I believe that was a more recent change... Keith said he wanted subeta to be more of a social networking site in a keith answers. I do remember that aswell but it's just seeming like a bunch of facebook features being brought over here with, like I said before, pets and human avatars.

Kind of have to agree with peach, though I won't be leaving because of it (I still enjoy Subeta despite it.) Change is good for the most part, but I hope there won't be too much more of these facebook-esque changes.

Peach I'm pretty sure that Keith always described subeta as a "social networking site" opposed to a "pet site". I obviously could be wrong though :c

Actually I just want to say... subeta is turning into something much different then what it started out as. A lot of your users joined subeta because it was a petsite but now it seems that it's trying too hard to be a new facebook with "other" features like pets and human avatars. This is becoming enough reason for myself to quit, I didn't want to join a social networking site, I wanted to join a virtual pet website.

I hope this is the last of the social features but I have a feeling it's not even the beginning. Just my two cents.

Think of the time when some users go to other users profiles and look to see how long they posted so they can get a pet name or user name, that's not stalking? There are many ways you can find information about a user just by going to their profile. This isn't much different, it's more 'consolidated'... And give them some credit, they're trying new things to keep the site interesting, and sometimes ideas don't come so easily.

This should've actually said:

It is, however this allows you to see who your friends are friends with, and maybe find someone that you <strong>do</strong> know but haven't sent a request to yet. For example, I found two people that I talk to daily that I hadn't remembered to send a request to, and was able to do it via this interface.

I'm not really sure who gave you the idea that anything in the forums are private conversations. They are public, and anyone can browse to your forum. If you have a problem with your <strong>friends</strong> seeing that you've recently posted (which they'll only see if multiple of their friends are) on a topic, then you should remove people from your friends list.

Beyond that, it doesn't show what friends are in groups, or what friends have posted on topics (though you could open it and see) the only time that it directly compares is in the event that you have friends in common with someone.

I just don't see why this features are necessary, though? I can't really see why someone would want to see all their friends activities. :/

Facebook sketchiness wooooh.

First people whine and cry that Subeta's turning into Neopets. Now everyone's whining and crying that it's turning into Facebook. I dunno, Facebook is a pretty convenient and fun way to keep in touch with my friends. And I have lots of friends on Subeta. I like to keep in touch with them.

Hence the whole "social network" part of the site and everything.

You guys, this is a game site. Are you really THAT concerned about your "privacy" while playing a game? I can understand why people are always protesting Facebook, because hey.. that's your real name and face over here.

Your "identity" on Subeta, however, is NOT that important, sry2say. Also, a lot of the people complaining about being stalked- I've never seen you before. Somehow I don't think the rest of Subeta cares enough to stalk you.

The only issue I could see from this would be super well-known users getting a ton of new friend requests, which would be annoying. But that's all.

How is this stalkerish if you can view your friends posts, topics, and even read their comments? Plus it may be a way to make new friends here.

I'm not sure I like this. To me it just feels like an invasion of privacy, though I suppose it's better that this is only among friends and that you can't 'stalk' people who aren't on your friends list. That would just be way too much. Makes me kind of glad I don't have many friends on my list.

If 10 of your friends are friends with someone, I think that it makes sense that you'd be able to see that. Maybe in the future we will make a way to "opt-out" of this, but I don't really think showing "friends of friends" is an invasion of privacy in the least.

Also, I think that it's not an invasion of privacy to show what boards your friends are posting on, as you could find that in the feed or just by looking at your friends "recent posts" history.

As far as I'm concerned, there isn't any privacy violation here or information that you can't get otherwise by just wandering around the site and looking a little harder.
