Just moments ago, convention officials announced the opening of a Cosplay Contest that will be taking place next week. The reaction from fans was immediate, with many rushing to don their handmade costumes and submit their entries before the lines get too long. Why, twice already I've been complimented on my "excellent" news reporter outfit!
If any of you are attending the convention and wish to enter, you have until Sunday at midnight to get your costumes together, as judging begins first thing on Monday.

Oh maaan, it took me days of mucking around with HA generators (and 3mil) but I finally got an Aang cosplay that's at least recognizable. I think. n_n;

Heh, even though I'm on vacation...I'm SO glad the net lasted long enough for me to enter lol.
I hope we can make a last-minute edit to our costumes before they get finalised--we can change the ref pic but not our costumes??--I found the perfect extra accessory...I doubt I'll win or place but submitting my best effort would be more fun than one which I know I can do better than.

Bagheera23608 a few comments down is right. The character doesn't have to be from anime, manga, a Japanese game, or anything else that's Japanese. If you dress up as Buffy or Romeo or Barbapapa or Huckleberry Finn, that's cosplay. (Just saying this because there are still comments around the site along the lines of "Nice idea, but I don't know anime".)

I entered my version of Yuffie. I forgot to change a couple of little things, but I do not think it would really matter that much. I really want to see the other entry's!! Cannot wait for the voting ^^.
I'll be entering my Cubone, but I'll probably change back to Lugia afterward. I like lugia better than cubone, but I think my cubone cosplay has a better chance at winning. But I probably won't win anyway. XD

I know nothing about anything anime/magna. So even if the best costume is in that category, I prolly wouldn't vote for it, cuz I don't know it. I know something in that genre will win cuz that's what you crazy kids are into these days, but I'm more of a traditionalist. I won't be offended if someone doesn't vote for me for whatever reason, that's why it's called voting. And I don't know any of the "big name" HA people, so I hope I'm as fair as possible. I'm looking for a good HA that matches well the comparison pic provided. In my case, there may not even be a comparison pic......Have fun folks! It's just a game!
For everyone not wanting names to be displayed: Even if they aren't there, it can never be a perfect system. Many of the well-known HA makers post all over the forums, so you would see their entry associated with their name assuming they are still wearing the costume. It can still be based on popularity.
Either way, I don't think ANY voting contest like this will ever be completely fair, but we can still have fun with it. :]

Altho if you look up cos play you will get a LOT more of anime/magna than anything else. Try deviantart too. Basically pick your favorite character and go for it.

As long as people who are entering characters from more unknown works also submit those ref pics, I think the voting will be mostly based on quality.
