While you wait for the October Collections, we encourage you to take a moment and check out the Morostide 2020 Suggestions thread. We’d love to hear what you’d like to see this year for the Pumpkin Patch, Trick or Treating, and other spooky things. :)
Note: Don’t suggest bringing back older Morostide items. We have plans for older items that won’t be rereleased via Patch or ToT this year.

The Pet Spotlight in August was having some issues running every night, this was a combination of code not doing the news post/awarding the spotlight but also in our winners queue there are a lot of pets from the same few users. As those familiar with the pet spotlight know, "after a pet wins, there is a two (2) week cool-down period before another one of their pets can win".
So, we pondered as a team how to address this. The code issue was taken care of, but what about the few users?
Starting October 7, the pet spotlight will be awarded every Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday. We thought about doing just weekdays as we have in the past, but that wasn't really cutting down the days enough. We thought about doing every other day, but we wanted concrete days y'all could expect a spotlight to happen.
We will be doing news posts this week to catch up on the last few spotlight winners from August that didn't get news posts and then it'll be back to new spotlight winners!
We love that so many of you care about your pets. We're looking for more ways to encourage users to apply for spotlight for their pet.
We know a lot of users are worried about the planned changes to how pet profiles work. We want to assure you that any coding done before the change can be kept as legacy coding. Furthermore, we are not planning to do such a big change before the end of the year so you still have time to create!

Note on the special item from the subscription plans: Based on your feedback, we've improved our special item system to ensure that you do not receive duplicate special items that have to be manually swapped out by staff! If the special item hasn't updated by the time your subscription renews, you will not get an item when it renews; instead, you will receive your item prize later when the new item is released. The rest of your subscription perks will go out on your renewal date, as usual. Enjoy!
Additional note: This update may not be perfectly retroactive, so if you do happen to receive a duplicate this month, please file a ticket: a User Administrator will swap your item out, and a Programmer will make sure it is not an issue for you again moving forward.

I even brought along a spirit board, thought maybe we could communicate directly and see if any of these specters have anything useful to say. Apparently, you just put it down like this, put your fingers lightly on the planchette and... ooh it’s moving! “N...I..CE...S...H...EE..T....I..D..I..OT” Huh. Well... Y’know what, how ‘bout you come find me, and we’ll get some practice time in. Then we’ll wipe the undead smirks offa those sassy specters’ faces.

We’ve adjusted the times for the pumpkin patch to have no more than 18 minutes between wait times on a normal Morostide day instead of the 30 minutes of previous years! On October 31, instead of a 15 minute wait time, you will only have to wait 8 minutes between exploring.
This is the only wave of items for the Pumpkin Patch this year.
Item not found: blue razzberry gummy eyeball
This is the first wave of two waves for trick or treat! Unfortunately, this year there will be no ragdoll items. The artist that usually does them is currently on maternity leave and we couldn’t just pass it on to someone else.
For every 5 people that trick or treat at your house, you’ll get an item too!
Use the following sCode in your forum signature or status so people can easily trick or treat at your house:

There's a link to random trick or treating on the news sidebar. Enjoy visiting stranger houses! If you use this option, you will have a 5 minute wait time between trick or treating. This will decrease to 3 minutes on October 31!
Like previous years, we haven’t added any new carveable pumpkins, but you can still carve the floating pumpkins or keep them for Fantine’s Pies in November.
We will have previous challengers brought back throughout the holiday, so don’t be worried that none are released just yet! We’ll have them showing up in waves so y’all won’t be too overwhelmed. ;)
Later during Morostide, a special quest giver will be giving out old Morostide restockables. Keep an eye out for the news post about it!

I finally got around to asking if anybody had heard of any legendary creatures, and they all got deathly quiet. One finally spoke, and in a very ominous tone said, “Turnip Head Ambrose.” Apparently, about a century ago, a giant prize-winning turnip was stolen from the Shadowglen Faire. They never found out who did it, but a string of arsons happened out in the woods soon after. The locals spoke of a cackling ghostly with a turnip jack-o-lantern head prowling wherever the fires popped up, and eventually, people learned to steer clear of the area. Only tourists and fools visit this part of the forest anymore, but I guess that’s what this thing prefers. It really, really likes fire and pranks and I’ve got first-hand experience.
I stumbled upon a headless scarecrow in the middle of a FOREST and that really should have set off some alarm bells, but no, I had to investigate. Suddenly, this giant purple tuber is screaming down towards me, the scarecrow body has burst into flames and is thrashing about, and the air is filled with the most unsettling screechy laughter I’ve ever heard in my life. Then I realize that something’s set me on fire so I just start running and flailing. I can only hope I didn’t look as stupid as I felt. My ghost outfit is, quite literally, toast.
