Almost two weeks have gone by and still no Straight Pride flags... So we shouldn't be proud of who we are? I thought Subeta supported equality? It doesn't feel like it, unfortunately. :(

PS - Did look it up myself. Found the wiki on pride stripes, says nothing about male-homosexual or straight colors? Perhaps I'm not as good at googling at you, so instead of the huge wall of re-posts perhaps you can just point me to your source and answer my original questions?

Didn't read your whole psychotic re-posting of other people's posts because I don't have the time, sorry you wasted yours.
As to your personal comments that you actually said yourself. You said that the rainbow flag is homosexual and then said it was also the cover for ALL non-hetero stuff, completely missing and then proving my point. Lesbians specifically get their own flag, specifically. Homosexual males do not? This is my question? They are being left out, it seems? Is my point? And you are raging at me for seeing a problem in the exact thing you care about, about people being left out?
Keith, the site owner, being gay, which everyone knows, is irrelevant to my queries? How... how is that relevant? Do you think I said "All gays should die and I won't ever be party to any gay stuff"? Because otherwise why bring that up?
Love this quote though: "Straight love and sex are EVERYWHERE in the media."
Because straight is still the majority, so obviously the majority will be represented. If the 95% of the world were butterflies, they would write butterfly-centered stories and talk about butterfly-related issues, because they are butterflies. This quote is saying "REALITY IS BIASED" and it is hilarious. (PS I'm not straight.)
You are really going off on tangents against things I didn't think, let alone say. Only asked, remember: Are there gay male colors. Are there hetero colors.
Not every query is an attack. Calm down.

The owner/creator of the site is gay and he made this place as a place he can be gay in. The flags aren't just "preferences" good lord.

@Frankenchokies you are absolutely ignorant
The rainbow is "the homosexual" flag, but is also the main cover for all LGBTQ+
Reread the thread to see why a "straight flag" is nonsense. If you really want to know you'd look it up yourself. It's just black and white stripes.

Your comic would be relevant if someone opened a gay club and I asked, "Where is the club for straight people straights want in?!" They are literally being shunned and literally going to a place of their own, which is irrelevant and unrelated to what I'm asking about completely?
These flags are colors that allow people to identify their preferences and I'm only wondering if there exists a straight one. If you made a "brunette pride" flag and a "blonde pride" flag, I would say "Where is the redhead pride flag?" If there was no WORD for straight I would ask why not and would you shout, "YOU GET ALL THE WORDS LEAVE US ALONE!"
Also didn't answer about the missing homosexual flag. Is it there and I just don't see it?

There's no homosexual flag? A (two) lesbian flag(s) but... no... am I missing it?
(Also is there a set of colors for heterosexual pride? Or are heterosexuals not allowed to be proud without being assumed to be bigots against the other groups?)

There's been rumor of the genderfluid flag being a pedo and the ace flag is associated with AVEN which is lead by a homophobe. Quit dissecting every lesbian flag if you're not gonna do the same to the others, it makes it really obvious that ya'll just hate lesbians lol

Yeah, it's a logical leap to make when racist comments get dismissed as "some shitty comments." That's a common tactic bigots use, to downplay either their words or someone else's. Racist comments aren't just "some shitty comments."
I won't use the pink flag. If you want to, fine. Hopefully most will move on from it, though. I didn't know the creator of the orange striped flag was an ace exclusionist so thank you for informing me. I'll make sure not to use that one either.

Yes - truly the only intelligent logical leap, that I am also racist, rather than - I don't know, frustrated over the fact that the lesbian flag gets "updated" every few years and impedes any sense of actual connection or pride. That as a feminine lesbian, I am already invisible, and having my LGBT identifier consistently overwritten feels a lot like an extension of that. Or that I don't give a shit about the character of the creator as an individual, only that their symbol serves its purpose by actually being recognizable!
Did you know the creator of the orange stripe flag is ace exclusionary? Or that creator of the labrys was... a man. Shit y'all, back to the drawing board again.

"A few negative comments" online is completely inaccurate. The creator of the pink flag is racist, plain and simple. Many people also did not like the pink flag because it was restrictive and unoriginal (just shades of pink). I can guess why you chose to be so inaccurate with your comments. There's really only one reason why someone would downplay racism like that.

I'd love for some big flags--like backgrounds or something. Maybe in muted colors as well? Having some earth tones would be lovely. :D
Also for straight people complaining about flags--just go to your local straight pride parade, held every day but Sunday at the Chik-fil-A drive thru!

I have got friends and family members with a different nature than straight and I have also straight friends and family. They are harmonieus with each other, because they appreciate each other as person.
They ignore negatieve energy and debate only about sensitive issues with people who have the calmness and patience to think always first and ask to each other like:
"I'm not sure what you mean really. I assume you mean (could be everyting), but do I understand you correct now? Please tell me If I understand you right or not".
Then the debate continues without struggle. It's possible by some people.

Uhhhh I learned about the new lesbian flag off Tumblr... I feel the orange+pink pallettes work really well with it.
2
Hoshi
...it is disappointing that people are trying to replace what was already the least recognized flag in LGBT (lesbian) with a different version because its creator made some shitty comments online. The orange stripe is only gonna be recognized by people who frequent Tumblr; few enough ever recognized the "old" lesbian flag.
Please keep the sash as is for people like me who prefer to be represented by the old one.

The black and brown stripes on the rainbow flag are absolutely not disrespectful and I can't even follow the logic of calling them that. Race issues and LGBT+ issues have always been closely linked. Read up on the Stonewall Riots and the history of Pride.
No one's forcing anyone to use the rainbow flag with black and brown stripes but to call it disrespectful is itself disrespectful and ignorant of the history of Pride.

Jesus I copied the wrong colour run down, since I always get this mixed up. Anyway, here's the meanings. Still not a race thing XD
Red - Life
Orange - Healing
Yellow - Sunlight
Green - Nature
Blue - Harmony
Purple - Spirit

@LilyValentine nice assumption! Very much in the spirit of support and community that Pride is supposed to represent!
Let me give you a quick run down on the meanings of the rainbow stripes:
red - stands for courage
orange - offers the vision of possibilities
yellow - represents the challenge that GREEN has kindled
green - indicates a challenge to co-operators to strive for growth of membership and of understanding of the aims and values of co-operation
light blue - suggests far horizons, the need to provide education and help less fortunate people and strive toward global unity
dark blue - suggests pessimism: a reminder that less fortunate people have needs that may be met through the benefits of cooperation
violet - is the colour of warmth, beauty, and friendship
Let me know where in this you can fit race. So no, the pride flag is not about race. And I will remind you again, that the black stripe already has its meaning and hijacking it for woke points is just a shitty move.
Also, assuming you're not a racist and you want the pride flag to be REALLY inclusive, there also should be a white stripe. And other shades of brown. And a one for the Asian community. Wouldn't you agree?

@LilyValentine race is not a Pride thing and the black stripe is for the victims of AIDS. The black and brown stripes are disrespecting the original flag and its legacy.

@Funkykitsune yep, some people from all groups prefer the all-inclusive rainbow, some like the specific flags. But you're correct that the rainbow includes all of these and more.
Staff - how about the new rainbow flag with the brown/black stripes? Would be cool to see those added to the site at some point!

I need to add to this the following:@bluemoonlightgirl
"Favoritism is not equality"? Please, tell me how heterosexual couples weren't Hollywood's favorites for countless years. Tell me how most religions/cultures don't favor heterosexuality to the point that anything outside the norm is considered disgusting and in many places it's punished in some way, including being beaten to death.
We don't need a straight pride flag. Straight people never suffered because they were straight. We suffered because we're not straight - because for so long, we were not the favorites.
* straight people CAN get married in EVERY country on Earth - gays not so much
* where i live, if 2 people of the same gender live together, they're labeled (or risk of being labeled) 'gay' even if they aren't so
* where i live, i never heard of 2 people of the same gender being able to buy a house together. As a matter of fact, i think only married couples can buy a house together.
* i never heard of straight people being disowned by their family for their sexual preference, did you?
* nobody bats an eye at straight couples holding hands on the street, over here. 2 girls? "LESBIAAANS!!!!!!!!!!! loooooook!!!!! lesbiaaaaaansssss!!! hahaha /insert various weird sounds/"
* a girl has a buzz cut? she must be lesbian!!!
* everyone ASSUMES everyone else is straight
I invite you to tell me how exactly do you see favoritism towards being LGBTQ... when EVERYONE favors being straight because that's the norm??
straight people WERE ALWAYS AND STILL ARE FAVORED! EVERYWHERE! how is that equality?
i'm in a same-gender relationship, i don't boast about it in real life (i don't think it's anyone's business who i sleep with or if i do, for that matter), and at the same i don't like these pride stuff either (most likely because of the bullying we received in the past, and because i'm very well aware of the fact that being straight makes thinks easy and procreation is not possible without it). But you know what? not everyone feels like i do, i chose this lifestyle, i wouldn't change it for anything, and i also think that most straight people are stuck up assholes (or secretly gay). The best thing we can do is to live and let live - if being gay or whatever is wrong, i guess we'll find out when we leave this world.
and if you want a straight pride flag or whatever, make a CW ;p how exclusive is that ;) -see what i did there? no? showing myself out, lol.
Do you understand now why there isn't and never will be a 'straight pride' item on subeta? (along with the ower, Keith being gay himself).. like... yeah... LOL

Thank you for the flags! I love them! Like others already mentioned, I would love GIANT versions and also a version for my HA's other hand too. :)
Also, if anyone reading this is genuinely confused and wants to ask a safe person some questions about what these flags mean, please feel free to comment me or DM me. I will answer anyone's questions. Likewise, if you have questions about transgender people, I can answer those too. Asking questions is not wrong. It's how we learn.
Love and peace to all. <3

@Discordia19 You're correct! However, the orange/pink lesbian flag is not the "lipstick lesbian" flag - the latter is just shades of pink by itself, sometimes with a kiss mark on it. The orange/pink one was created by someone else to keep a similar feel, but has actual meaning to the color choices, and to include ALL lesbians. :)

To those who want/ed a "straight pride" flag and other items: you do know there's a way of getting them, don't you? They're called Custom Wearables. You can either pay someone to make them for you, usually paid for in CSC, or can make them yourself, if you're artsy.
I would love a Bear flag, a Leather one, and a Pup one (for my male submissive), but I don't expect staff to add them, as they're a body type and kinks. So if I REALLY wanted them badly enough, I'd hire someone that'd be willing to help out.

- pan = pansexual or panromantic = attracted to people of any gender (lots of overlap between pan and bi)
- ace = asexual (someone who doesn't experience sexual attraction to anyone of any gender)
- genderqueer and nonbinary (NB) both mean someone who isn't male or female.
- genderfluid means someone's gender keeps changing

Fiance and I have the same gender on paper, we can't get married :( -they politicians here even wanted to change the letter of the law, to define marriage as being between a man and a woman, not between 2 individuals as it always did. They organized a 2 day referendum, LOWERED the minimum attendance number (from 50% to 30%), just to make sure the law passes, but most citizens didn't give 2 dead rats about their stupid referendum, though there's been a lot of propaganda and brainwashing in the media and on the street. The attendance was barely around 20%, so the law remains unchanged.
All this drama because a local man got married in a different country to an American man, and they wanted to come live here. The American guy applied for the spouse visa, got denied, and they sued the government. They had to take the case to the European court of law who ruled in the couple's favor, if im not mistaken.
Can gays be conservative? i think i am. For instance, i don't want to wave any flag to tell people i'm like this or like that. i think that whoever i sleep with or love is my own business... So, thank you for these flags, but i'll be fine without them..
I'm just surprized it took so long to make them...

"What about straight pride?!?" No, sorry, straight pride is illegal here on Subeta Dot Com. Nobody is allowed to be straight. All of you cishets are now gay and/or trans, I don't make the rules ok. It's just the Gay Agenda (TM). It was the flags, you see, representation for identities that aren't your own actually in fact change you. That's why I'm now a gay elf ghost like Jaxon.

Im straight and I dont really feel hated. Pride is for celebrating lgbtq communities particularly and the flags are to make these communities known, why would be a straight flag when its not part of the community and its very visible by itself (I mean, there is a ideology structure especially design for making it visible and even trying to make it the only accepted option. Even if I we receive some hard times for being allies, its not the same. Our physical and mentally integrity is not at risk). You should be proud of who you are and I hope you are, but this is not about you (or me for that matter) its about the lgbtq communities, to remember their fight, their pain, their gain and to celebrate them. It's not "hate for straight people" to point out that straight people aren't oppressed and don't need Pride because everything is already all about them. Whatever crap allies get for being allies sucks, yeah, but it doesn't even compare to the systemic inequality LGBT+ folks face. HIV/AIDS was killing gay people off in droves in the 80s and the Reagan administration laughed about it. Called it the "gay plague." They though people deserved it. People like them are why it took so long to find ways to treat such a serious problem. Homosexuality was listed as a mental illness in the DSM until 1973. "Sodomy" laws were only officially struck down in the Supreme Court in 2003. Same-sex marriage wasn't legalized in every state until 2015. There's still nothing in most states to protect LGBT+ people against discrimination when it comes to things like jobs and housing. Conversion therapy still exists! A freaking Trans military ban happened just recently. LGBT+ youth still experience high rates of homelessness and suicide. We still struggle with representation in the media. That's doesn't even cover the full breadth of all the issues at play and this is just the United States! What hurdles have straight people had to overcome? In what was does our society punish you for being straight? It doesn't, of course. We have Pride because we're damn proud of what we've survived. We're proud of how far we've come. Having a celebration that doesn't include you isn't anywhere close to "hate." Please take a seat.

Believe or not I have more than 12 gay cousins. Straight pride flag does not make any sense to me but straight ally flag does, it means to support and believe in equality, rights, movements, and all of them. See this image: (Invalid img) I want this flag in Subeta!

It's not that we hate straight people. It's that we hate straight people trying to go "but what about us!!" when there's never been oppression for being straight. I personally appreciate our allies who are straight - it's great you guys support us! But please understand, it's so frustrating when straight people try to make pride about themselves too. Pride celebrations were started for the people who faced hardships of all sorts due to their identities - being cis/hetero is considered normal in society and so really... every day is cis/hetero celebration day.
Someone made the joke "Hallmark channel is straight pride" but think about that - ever seen a Hallmark movie with a transgender or homosexual (or even bisexual) character? I haven't. And my mom BINGES that stuff. I could be wrong, maybe Hallmark's done something and I've missed it -- I would like that but I doubt it!
At this point I'm just rambling because I've got a lot of frustration with this "but straight people are being excluded!" mindset.
Because think about it: most love songs (that aren't vague lyrics)? Straight. Most movie romances? Straight. Most romance novels? Straight. Most media overall? Straight. Valentine's Day content? Straight. Relationship/romance/wedding/etc related content? Straight.
You're not excluded. You're a VAST majority of the content to begin with.
I'm probably super late commenting because I took a long ass time typing (listening to creepypasta at the same time oof)

@Unibat Pride isn't just a celebration, it's a protest too. It's about being open and visible in a world where there are a LOT of people who want to shove us back in the closet. It's about STILL having to fight just to buy a gods damned cake for our weddings. It's about clawing and scrabbling just to get some pop culture representation where we're not just wacky best friends or yet another case of the Bury Your Gays trope.
Most of us are happy to have straight and cis allies and we appreciate those that are willing to do it without any fanfare. But even in countries with marriage equality a lot of us still take our lives in our hands just walking outside. Others are struggling each day just for recognition that they even exist. Straight cis people are considered the default and almost everything in society centers around them. All we're asking for is just one month out of the year that can be just a *little* bit about us instead.

@Unibat
"Straight pride" is 100% unnecessary because pride isn't about showing off and advertising your sexuality. It's not like you're picking a team to root for. Pride is about the visibility of marginalized identities. LGBT+ people have been -- and still are -- oppressed in most areas of the world. In some countries we're murdered. In others we're denied rights. Even in progressive countries we're treated as "others." That's why pride is important because cishet people tend to see our sexual and gender identities as "different" and inherently sexual but cishets are seen as "normal", "default" and more about love than sex.
Pride started as a direct response to violence against the LGBT+ community.
Straight pride is unnecessary because straight pride is EVERYWHERE. Straight love and sex are EVERYWHERE in the media. Cishet people do not risk violence for being cishet. Cishet people are not denied rights for being cishet. Cishet people are not subjected to violence in forced conversion attempts.
There is no valid reason for a "straight pride" flag. You either do not understand what pride is about (which is why I'm attempting to educate you) or you know full well what it's about and you want to make things about you when everything is already all about you. Sometimes it's difficult to tell when someone's comment comes from ignorance or bigotry. I hope yours is the former and that you LISTEN to what people are telling you.

@Unibat Nobody's hating on straight people. They're hating on the people crying out for a "straight pride" flag because the very idea of that misses the entire point of the pride movement: Pride originally began as a protest, back when being any sexuality other than "the norm" meant being at risk of hatred, violence, police brutality and literal oppression. Homosexuality and other "deviant" orientations have been (and still are in some places) literally illegal or classed as psychological disorders. People have been disowned by their families, fired from their jobs, attacked, sexually abused and even killed simply because they aren't hetrosexual and/or cisgendered.
Straights don't need a straight pride flag because straight people have never had to march through the streets in defiance of the literal law just to proclaim who they are. You can't be fired for your job for being straight, nobody is beaten up or killed or disowned or called names for being straight. Straight, cis people are not oppressed, ergo they don't get "included" in a movement that is in large part about flying in the face of oppression.
Hope this helps you understand.

While I am definitely curious as to what some of the now deleted comments said, I am also glad that the mods have been keeping a close eye on this news post and not tolerating any hate or bullshit. It's always good to see so much pride stuff! And it's always good to know what usernames to add to my block list. There's a lot of stuff on this site I'm willing to deal with - bigotry and homophobia aren't on that list.
Thanks to staff! Both for the items and for the diligence in keeping this news post nice and clean.

Not sure why so much hate for straight people, isn’t all love equal, no matter how stupid it may seem. Seems contradicting. What if I’m a straight ally? We’ve received hate as well for being allies just because we don’t agree to the standard biased opinions of closed minded people. I’ll happily display my straight flag and I don’t care what anyone thinks.

Amazing that I've added more people today to my block list than there were on it in the first place. Straight pride is nonsense and if you think you're oppressed because you don't get a straight pride parade you need to read some history.
On a lighter note, this is probably my final time offering to pay for people to get flags they need cause it's starting to feel like spam, but seriously feel FREE to ask me to get you some flags!
Anyway Happy Gay Wrath Month! (have we decided which one next month is? Cause I like the idea of sloth for august, it's just too hot to do much else)

I'm so glad the pink and orange flag has gained so much traction. I was really mad when I learned the most popular lesbian flag was just gradients of pink, one because it's super boring and two because it felt incredibly restrictive. (And that's not even addressing the person who designed it.) The pink and orange variation is immensely better.

Straight pride can exist when your orientation is constantly questioned by your doctors. it can exist when one of your own is murdered and all the discussion is about how people like you don't exist.

I am unsure exactly how the haters here missed that subeta is mostly inhabited by people who identify either in these categories or who identify as something not recognized here. I find it amusing that the haters play on a site where the owner himself is gay and quite proud of it but they don't like what the flags stand for. How do some of you sleep at night, let alone look at yourself in the mirror?

@BlueRiver the labrys flag is a different, older lesbian flag with the lavender color and labrys symbolizing lesbianism and lesbian strength respectively, and the black triangle to honor/remember jewish lesbians killed during the holocaust.
a number of older organizations use it but it hasn't been as popular recently (like, within the past ~5-10 years?) due to being co-opted by transmisogynists, so it's nice to see it being brought back more in non-transmisogynist use!

@foxette We live in a world where anything not straight is automatically made sexual, hence your consenting adult comment. It's offensive to me that gay couples can't hold hands in public for fear of getting assaulted, and it happens a lot despite it maybe not happening where you live. Straight couples are always shown in media holding hands, kissing, and literally everything a relationship entails. LGBT+ people are not so fortunate. We are censored and told we are gross when we should be able to show affection just as everyone else does. It's not our problem that straight people are obsessed with gay sex lives, it really makes them the perverts. I don't go around obsessing/thinking about all the sex straight people are having, it's just absurd.
In summary, LGBT+ people just want to hold hands and be able to live in the world like everyone else; to get equality we have to protest and show ourselves. It's not going to change if we are just passive and do nothing. That's how it was in the past and now look at the strides in rights that we have since Pride started. We still have a very long way to go but pride will always exist as long as there are people attacking us for just being who we are.

Pride isn't about "personal and private matters," it's about fortitude in the face of adversity. Society loves to mistreat people that are different, but we carry on with our heads held high and refuse to be shamed for who we love or how we were born. That's what all the "flag waving" is about.
Subeta is very LGBT+ friendly; there are plenty of us in the user base and even on staff. If this bothers you, well, you're free to leave I guess? *shrug*

@Ferinsy The lesbian striped flag used here is actually the alternative flag that many people have adopted since finding out the original flag creator was super racist. The red/darker pink stripes were substituted for the orange stripes, and many people liked it because it was different enough from the original, but still similar enough that it was recognizable as a lesbian pride flag.
22

Thank you so much for these!! I only wish real life clothing offered as many lesbian options as Subeta does. <3
5
Ginseng
@Wesker The colors are often based on symbolism, but sometimes it's just because the creator thought they looked nice together! For example, the transgender pride flag has blue, pink and white stripes, which the creator has said stand for transgender women (pink), transgender men (blue), and nonbinary/genderless people (white). In comparison, the nonbinary flag has yellow (for those that feel their gender is completely outside the binary of "pink" and "blue"), white (for those who have many different genders), purple (for those that feel their gender is a mix of male and female), and black (for those who feel they are genderless/lack gender completely, since black is the absence of color or light).
These are just some examples, but, yea, generally the colors are based on symbolism, and the flags that are used most often are simply those that have become the most popular among the relevant community. :)

It's often called "lipstick lesbian flag" and a lot of lesbian friends hate that flag because it was related to the "lipstick lesbians", who sometimes are homophobic with the more masculine lesbians. Also, the flag creator was racist and that's why it's not the best flag imo. More about it: LINK. In this link there's a "new lesbian flag", but I don't think it was widespread. I don't know why the Labrys one is so hated, but it seems to be the most accepted one.
Also, the colors for flags have a lot of different origins, some of them kinda depict what the flag creator(s) thought about the identity (like the bi flag, where blue and magenta unites in the center to create lilac), and other flags represent characteristics of that identity; pride flag (which was adopted by gays as well -- for some reason), for instance, has the following meanings: red (life), orange (healing), yellow (sunlight), green (nature), blue (harmony) and violet (spirit).

Isilven answered the first question about the Lesbian flags just above your post for you :)
As for how colors are determined: those are the flag designs that have taken on the most widespread use within the community. Folks designed them and they took off - sometimes colors symbolize something within them, sometimes they don't (or we don't all know what all the colors mean). A lot is preference as there are alternate color patterns/colors/etc for each community within the broader community. I, for instance, tend to prefer the rainbow that includes the brown and black stripes, but it's still less commonly used than the version here for standard pride.

does anyone know the background/history of who and when the colors of each sexuality/gender identity were chosen? I always wondered

For those wondering, the Labrys flag is a really really old lesbian flag from before we started using the striped system. Be cautious though, as TERFs have tried to basically steal the symbol away from lesbians and use it for themselves :
Thank y'all so much for the rep, staff! Cannot wait to fly the genderfluid flag :3

Two questions I have: why are there to different lesbian flags? I’m not familiar with the labrys one. And my other question is how are the colors determined for each type? I don’t know if this is an easy question to answer. I was just curious

Also seconding having alternative versions for the other hand so we can wear more than one! :)

the Labrys Pride Flag gives me life
I'd love to see country flags one day! I know there are 3 already (USA, Canada and Mexico) but I'd love to see more

Ignoring all arguments cause these are lovely. I love these and if someone doesn't have the quest points to get their pride flag(s) of choice, please comment me, I don't have a TON of quest points but I have enough for a few at least.
(Also staff, please consider prioritizing a revamp of the pride sashes. Several of them, including the rainbow, have colors out of order, and their incredibly thick line art makes them nearly impossible to pair gracefully with most HAs)

Quentin is an asexual genderless NPC that wants to be friends with literally everyone "despite" having clear connections with the underworld and other side. There's possibly no better place to put these items.
But I, a very gay man with the username that means Death and has multiple death-related pets, am willing to hear why it would be a concern to be associated with death.

I really like these - would it be possible to get a second set in the other hand in the future (so folks can wear multiples)? ALSO, I love y'all and I'd still love to see big hanging flags behind us (or like, giant held ones) for these too ♥️

I can't help but feel that associating LGBTQ+ flags with a shop shared with dead stuff is highly inappropriate.
