Cash Shop: Possessed Diamond Shards
A temple attendant ushers you all up onto a grand marble balcony. Shinwa is waiting for you, a pained smile on her face. After greetings and introductions, Esther recounts everything: the possessions, the monstrous creations, the mysterious identity of the tormentor, and finally, Princess Liara's justifications for her entire rampage. Shinwa silently considers the entire tale.
"So many people suffering... and all of it just to get back at me," the goddess says quietly.
"But Liara is lying, right?" Victoria asks, "You didn't just boot her out for no reason."
"Does it matter? I sensed a petty tyrant with great power and little compassion, and I wanted to act before that power grew out of control. She certainly wouldn't consider it fair."
"Ah," Vanya chimes in, "having that angry voice filling my head with such thoughts, I am thinking you did ze right thing." The rest of the group nods as Shinwa walks over to the balcony rail.
"I thought so, too," she replies, "Yet I have spent years doing ‘the right thing,' and every time other people suffer anyway, sometimes even more than if I'd never intervened at all," Shinwa leans on the balustrade and hangs her head, "I am exiled to this planet because I ‘did the right thing.'"
The goddess looks out at the desert and the approaching army before sighing heavily. Without glancing up at the group, she turns and heads back into her temple. The great stone doors rumble as they begin to close behind her.
Confusion washes over the group. A few people begin to protest, willing to fight on the goddess's behalf. Shinwa turns to face them.
"Go home. Please," she says, as the temple doors thunder shut.
Note: The Possessed Diamond Shards from the Cash Shop unlocks all three challengers.

Okay but I'm still dying to know when and why Princess Liara broke up with Darkheart Phantom. How did Darkheart end up broken and alone in the Arctic Frost to be adopted by a tribe there? Supposedly they trusted only each other fully, and had joined lives and causes to take down Shinwa. Why isn't he still by Liara's side now that she's living the dream? Who betrayed who?

Coming from an Illidari standpoint here, I have to wonder what really happened before. Shinwa apparently arrived here from somewhere else, as an exile. A powerful exile, but an exile nonetheless. And then she goes and does the same to another in the name of 'doing the right thing' I can see why she doubts her judgment over her former decision, but with one in a state of self-doubt and the other in a state of decidedly earned arrogance, it seems that outcome is obvious. Alternately, Shinwa may simply wish to deal with this on her own too, what we see as self-doubt may be her ever polite way of telling us the truth of the matter: don't get between me and my enemy, I don't need protecting, and my enemy will waste no time in obliterating you to get to me, so just get out of the way and let me do my own fighting for once.
I unlocked the ability to fight Liara directly, got one shot. That is fine, I just wanted to poke at her, not really to kill her. Little Nightmare Serpenth nipping at her heels. Others have tougher pets I am sure, I am still working on mine. I will wait to see what happens. Shinwa wants to deal with it her own way, I am fine with that. They fought once, looks like they will fight again, if fighting is how Shinwa is going to deal with this. I get the sense 'fight' and 'Shinwa' don't really fit together very well.

Shinwa can seriously get bent. Her "I'm the most beautiful person in all of Subeta, everyone should worship me" stuff annoyed me from the start, but now she's banishing people from their homelands and usurping power based on her own feelings and things she claims to sense? No. No no no no launch her into the sun and let her fry. That colonizing bullcrap can die with her, as someone who's people were straight up massecred often because of 'things they might do, especially if they don't believe our religion', she can screw all the way off. I really hope she gets destroyed.

I'm with @Limeleaf here. Just because Shinwa is unfit to reign and was unjust to Liara-- no matter how egregious-- does not make me want Liara as her replacement. I am getting serious Dictator vibes off of her, especially when she says "I can deal with any dissenters once the throne is mine again."
Remove them all from power. Maybe try democracy or, like, anarcho-communism or something. Shinwa vs. Liara is a false dichotomy.

Some people were suggesting the saheric colour for pets, so it will be nice, if it was inspired by this, or connected to Liara.

Forgot that I was going to point out how her mech looks like this old morostide hex & also sing the praises to the artist/s for these lovely challengers, especially the goddessbane; oh! so many little fiddly bits & filigree. A truly delightful design & love the usage of colors & shapes & repetition of the kora gem/diamond on the hands. They all look marvelous, you did a great job. ♥️♥️♥️
So, here that is, today. Perhaps not as well written as it could be. But hopefully? The feelings are still there. ;P
(Also, the first time I read the news post, I thought Shinwa deadass shut the door behind her and left us all on some little balcony hanging off the side of "her" temple. (obviously, it's a larger area than that, but, still. sounds like something she'd do. ahaha.))

The artwork is so gorgeous! Princess Liara sure has a look of fierce determination to exact her revenge. I don't know how to feel about Shinwa walking away and hiding in her temple while telling everyone that gathered to go home.

2) I don't really understand all the Shinwa hate. Like, is she helping here? No, probably not- but she's not being self-absorbed or callous, she's clearly depressed as heck. Her trivia section in the quest-givers Subetapedia even all but says it. (https://subeta.net/subetapedia/index.php?act=ventry&id=163) She's so aware of all of her mistakes and terrified of doing the wrong thing again, and this looks more like she's just... resigned. She doesn't want to fight Liara because she doesn't feel confident she's in the right, in this situation. Paralyzed by self-doubt. And she doesn't feel like she's worth others fighting for her.
We don't know the details of Liara's exile; to me, Shinwa's implying she *did* have reason, but it didn't matter *to Liara specifically* because she was upset and resents Shinwa for it.
I'm personally on team "get both Liara and Shinwa therapy."
(I don't have a hope in the world of fighting these opponents so I'm just wrapping myself in the lore instead)

The art for this is insanely amazing. I can't ever hope to beat these guys but I love all the art and writing that has come with this little storyline, it really made me feel like I was part of it and following the events even though I couldn't always fight or buy the challengers.

...Yeah, this is a Team Nobody kind of moment. Shinwa has always been sociopathically callous enough to cause major problems, and Liara violates people's bodies for power in the pukiest ways possible. And of course it's the "little guy" that suffers the most.

Welp, ever since Shinwa's quest dialogue revamp to make her really annoying with her "ARE YOU HERE TO LOOK AT MY BEAUTIFUL BEAUTY I'M BEAUTIFUL ugh my bracelet is gone again" stuff I don't really like her anymore, but Liara be here possessing sweet innocent NPCs. kinda surprised subeta decided to go with that angle imo, I was expecting her to have actually committed atrocities. or kicked a puppy. but this doesn't even mention her being mean to a waitstaff, just that shinwa "sensed evil" and banishment was the first thing she decided on. :v

A voice cries out, an attendant rushes to the rail, and you feel several hands forcibly restrain you. But, none of that matters now. All you hear is the soothing sound of Princess Liara's praise echoing through your mind and drowning out all else.
After all, Shinwa was never a goddess, just some lost, magical girl from another world. And now? Nothing more than a stain on the sands.
haha. But really? This was a fun mini event & always happy to get more challengers~ ♥️ (even if we don't get to choose the obviously correct side. :P)
