Pet Profile by SubetaHQ
Juvia had always been a plain, common Popoko. Shewas used to nestling among the tree branches withher many brothers and sisters. Night and day, she, as the oldest of her many young siblings, helped out her parents in many tasks, like babysitting her siblings and collecting food for the winter.Life was hard, but fun for Juvia as she experiancedmany new things and found more mysterious items whilesearching for food. She wasn't too old herself - justabout 14 years old in human years. Her story beings during the near end of a chilly, harsh autumn. JUVIA'S POINT OF VIEW -"Juvia, will you please take care of Mattie? I needto go and attend to Rilla" my Mum, Carla gentlyasked me. I love my Mum, I really do. She's such akind, delicate person. I've never heard her shoutonce. "Of course I will, Mum" I answered, before wrapping my bushy tail gently around my baby brother,Mattie. Yet still, my brother wailed and wailed continously. "Shh, Mattie. We can play hide and seek with Tommy and Lila now, since they seem to be asbored as you are" I suggested, patting Mattie gentlywith one of my brown paws. At the mention of hideand seek, which is his favourite game, Mattie stoppedcrying and looked up at me curiously, his eyes stillwatery. I pulled a silly face, which made him laugh loudlyand childishly. "Tommy, Lila, why don't you find some more Popoko to join in our game of hide and seek?" Tommy and Lila nodded. "Big sister, are you gonnaplay with us too?" asked Lila, my adorable tinyfour year old sister. "Yes, definitely! I wouldn'tever miss out on a chance to play with my cute siblings!" I answered, winking at both her and Tommy. The two smiled broadly at me then ran off, breakinginto conversation as they began their search formore Popoko to play hide and seek. I giggled. "Those kids have it easy. Wait until theyare as old as me. So many duties" I thought to myselfhappily. "But those kids are so immature... how wouldthey manage?" I added quietly on a more serious note.As I jumped swiftly amongst the branches of one of the giant trees of the Popoko tribe, towards mypersonal branch, I noticed another of my siblings,Mira, sitting on a high branch, looking down warily.I turned around and prepared to spring up high again, but just as I was about to jump I heard a loudsnap and before I knew it, I soared through the airto catch my little three year old sister. I had jumped so unexpectedly from such a highdistance, so I could not make a safe landing. Witha loud thud, I fell onto the fresh grass and laythere, clenching my moderately sharp teeth in pain.I had shielded Mira from any damage, as I had heldher tightly in my arms and wrapped my tail aroundher too. As my tail relaxed it's grip on her due to the immense pain I was feeling, Mira crawledout and stared at me, watery eyed. I, being thechild expert I was, noticed her eyes, which werebrimming with tears, straight away. "Don't cry, Mira" I told her softly. My attempts at cheering her up were futile, however, when she finally snapped under her sadness and broke out into bittertears. "No, it's not your fault!" I attempted to snap at her, but I could only manage a quiet, angryhiss. "IT IS MY FAULT!" the tiny Popoko child cried out fiercely. "If I wasn't so weak and small,I could have protected you, big sister..."With all my might, I smiled warmly at her, my owneyes starting to water because of my little sister's immense concern for me. "I probably justbroke one of my back legs. It'll be alright." I knew I had to cheer Mira up. Pushing myself up,using all my power, I straightened my body and stood up. I twitched and nearly cried out in pain as my left back foot ached with extreme pain. Mira, of course, noticed this. "I'm so sorry, bigsister. I was scared and I didn't know how to getdown... I just wanted to do something big. Thenthe tree branch snapped... and you got hurt becauseof me." Her voice wavered between every word."It's okay, Mira! By the way, after I come back later, do you want to go exploring in the foresttogether? Just us?" I suggested, smiling warmlyat my favourite little sister. Her face wasinstantly turned from a depressed one to a joyous, excitable one. "Really, big sister? Really?" she asked me repeatedly, too excited for words.I nodded, grinning at her. "Anyway, for now I haveto go. I'll see you by this tree when I come back!"The young Popoko waved her goodbye at me, smiling broadly.I sprinted around the area, searching for Tommy andLila. "Big sister! We've got lots of us! Let'splay!" Tommy's high voice loudly rang out behind me.I whipped around. Sure enough, Tommy, Lila and a three of our many siblings, Julie, Reggie and Billy were there. "Hi sister!" Julie squealed inher childish voice. I smiled at all of them. "Now, do all of you know the rules of hide and seek?""Yes!" the five voices of the young Popoko echoed."Well then, I'll be it! One... two... three..." Tommy, Lila, Julie, Reggie and Billy ran in theirown seperate directions, while I counted up to 30,very slowly. When I finally reached 30, I turned around and yelled"Ready or not, here I come!"Wasting no time, I ran along the dirt path betweenthe grass, turning my head left to right and rightto left, looking everywhere for those five littlePopokos. Eventually, I found most of them - Julie, among Angelica plants, Tommy, up a smallbirch tree, Reggie, hiding behind a tall oak tree andBilly, sitting behind tall grass. "Right guys, you just go back to your den and I'llgo to find Lila" I said to the four kids. They noddedand set off towards their secret den.It was nearing sunset now. I had been searching foran hour. Still no trace of Lila. I bit my lipnervously. She might be in danger. Maybe she drowned.Perhaps she met a raging Mortiking which could havecrushed her to death... There were so many possibilities - all awful. I was very far away from home now. Darkness surrounded me. It was probably midnight... Even mybright violet eyes could not see anything throughthe increasing darkness. After a few more minutes of travelling, ice blue light penetrated the darkness. The shining source of the light was directly in front of me. Without hesitation, I walkedwearily towards the light. When I got slightly closer, I noticed that the source of the light wasa cave! Upon entering it, my eyes made out wallsof pure, crisp ice. Not just a little icy. All thewalls of the cave, including the floor and ceiling, were shrouded with a thick icy coating. I was stunned by the enchanting beauty of this mysterious cave. However, I was determined to findthe source of the light. I knew it wasn't the walls, even if the ice was very bright.Venturing deeper into the cave, I scanned the wallsand the deeper interior. However, the source ofthe light seemed to be right at the heart of thisicy heaven. How did this cave stay so icy, even if it wasn't winter yet? After what seemed like an eternity, I reached a point in the cave where the shine almost blinded me.However, I pressed on, until I reached it. My target.Destination. The source of the light.LILA'S POINT OF VIEW -I sat beside my Mother, snuggling up to her warmbody. Her bushy tail cuddling me up close. However, this moment of happiness was quickly wrenched apart and ruined as I heard loud shouting."Lila! Big sister Juvia!"Four Popoko rushed towards me.Mother looked up at them. "Billy! Reggie! Julie! Tommy! Why are you shouting?" she asked them."Mummy, Juvia's gone missing! She went to find Lila, but it turns out that she's here!" Julieexplained."Juvia... is missing?" gasped Mother, her facetwisted with shock. "Lila, why are you here?" Reggie asked."I wasn't feeling very well, my tummy hurt. SoI went back to Mummy. I was gonna tell you all butI couldn't find any of you!" I explained.Billy nodded at her, showing his understanding."Everyone, tell our siblings to try and find Dad!He's strong enough to look for Juvia. Go, children!"our distressed Mother cried. I had never seen her soworried...JUVIA'S POINT OF VIEW -It was stunning. Radiating with brilliant white light, right in frontof me, was a flask. It wasn't just like any flask. The melting-icicle like shape of it was so intriguing. The alluring substance inside it was crisp white, with a slight blue tinge. As I walked up even closer to it, one of my paws brushed a small chunk of ice out of the sheet of icecovering the floor. I backed away slightly. The aura of the icicle-like potion glowed even brighter. Not a second later, the ice I had destroyedwas replaced by a new block of ice."So this is why the cave is so icy! It's becauseof this potion-like item!" I exclaimed.Forgetting all about why I was here, I curiously reached out to touch the potion. I immediatelysnatched my hand away, since even the surfaceof the flask was ice cold.I knew it was stupid to do. But it was such adelightful looking potion - what could onesip do? I slipped one of my paws towards thecrystal ice cap that topped the potion. Islid it out.Slowly, I picked the freezing bottle up, ignoring the cold that was stinging my brown, furry paws. I took one tiny sip.I felt my whole mouth freeze over. My heartstarted stinging with cold and my eyes seemedto burn with the increasing cold. I attemptedto scream, but I just couldn't. It was as ifice was blocking my throat. I was just too exhausted. I fell over and fainted.By the time I woke up, it was a brand new day.A bright pink dawn was taking place.MIRA'S POINT OF VIEW -Nightmares. They kept me awake all night. MaybeJuvia was dead? I shuddered to think of that.I saw countless scenes, flashing throughout my nightmares. Big sister Juvia's corpse, laying in the horrible graveyard, rotting and bloody. I couldn't take it anymore. My eyes snapped open. It quickly came to my mind that I had something wet on my face. I put a paw just beneathmy eyes. Tears. I had been crying in my sleep.Suddenly, I heard screams coming from a distance. Alerted, I ran towards the source of the screams."BANISHED! BANISHED! We can't have a monstrousmutant like your filthy daughter in our tribe!"shrieked an elderly-sounding voice."My daughter has the right so stay here, different or not!" a deep, manly voice snappedback at the other one.I rushed towards the two Popoko that were arguing. It was my Father, and the tribe chief, Kamyros. And there was one other...It was like nothing I had seen before. It wasa Popoko all right, but very different from a usual one. The whites of its eyes were a menacing black, and its irises were a piercing ice blue. Most of its fur was an alabaster white, while just some streakswere a bright, light blue. Something wasattached to its ears... was it chips of ice?But it couldn't be ice... it was autumn! However, when the head of the beautiful creature turned towards me, somethingcame to me...No, it couldn't be..."Mira. I'm so happy to see you" It was the feminine voice of my beloved big sister. The mutated Popoko was my Juvia.I ran with all my speed to hug her. However, the old chief blocked my way."You cannot touch that mutant, demonic spawn of ice!" he hissed.I looked over at Juvia for an explanation. She just smiled sadly at me."Juvia Fairelain, you are banished fromour race forever. Begone."The chiefs orders were clear. All of my family was here. And they were all bitterly crying. Even Dad was in tears.Just as my lifelong beloved, favourite sisterwas just simply walking away, I felt a jolt of agony in my heart.Tears flying from my lavender eyes, I screamedlouder than I had ever before."NO! YOU CAN'T LEAVE ME, BIG SISTER JUVIA!YOU WERE ALWAYS THERE FOR ME! YOU PROMISEDTHAT WE'D GO EXPLORING TOGETHER! DON'TBREAK THAT PROMISE!"I took a few short breaths, tears splatteringthe grass below me. "Don't leave me" I whispered, breathless frommy screaming.Juvia turned around and smiled at me, tearsstreaking her pale white face. "I will never forget you" she said to me, before walking through the boundary of our land anddisappearing from my life. From all our lives.Forever. Forgotten. But I will remember heras long as I live.JUVIA'S POINT OF VIEWI was glorious. Such beautiful silky fur. Iwas no longer common, or plain. But I had losteverything. My home, family, friends. Everything.I travelled across the unknown lands, forall Popoko were forbidden to travelout of our land. I scavanged for foodand ate what I could. Two weeks after my soltitude had begun, I was starving to death. I couldn't findfood anywhere among the now snowy placesI travelled through. Finally, I collapsed in the snow.Sighing quietly, I closed my eyes.My effort...It was all pointless. I was going to die.I woke up in a warm place. The floor underneath me was so soft... As my icy eyes opened, I noticed that I was in a bed. And a giant one indeed. The ones we had in the Popoko tribe were small and made out of leaves."Are you okay?"I whipped around to see a human. Studying her carefully, I backed awayand growled. Her hair was black, waist length, andstreaked with bright pink highlights. Her gray eyes looked at me with concern. The human female's attire consisted of abaggy white top, decorated with a silk pink ribbon. She also wore black braceletsand heavy black boots. In the Popoko tribe, we were taught to bewary of humans, as they can be deviousand would kidnap Popoko."Easy there. Don't be scared" her voicereassured me.I relaxed slightly, but I was still alert and tense."I thought you'd freeze to death! You'rea Glacier Popoko, right?" the human womanasked me.I tensed at her question. So what I amis called a Glacier Popoko? Not bad."Relax. My name is Shii. Nice to meetyou.""Shii's" attempt at conversationreassured me, and I relaxed completely asthe woman's warm fingers stroked myalabaster fur."You were so lonely out there...so cold. But you're really beautiful, you really are!" Shii complimented me.I looked up at her and smiled.Shii smiled back at me, her smilewarm and inviting.I knew that Shii wasn't a threat. She was gentle and caring, justlike Mother. I snuggled up to her.Over the past two weeks of soltitude,I had grown so lonely. I desperatelycraved a person to talk to. Nowmy wish was granted."Oh! I forgot, what's your name?" Shii asked me suddenly.I frowned at her, tilting my head to the side."Gosh, I forgot, you can't speak! Alright, try this!"She placed a couple of wooden cubes in front of me,each with a bright red letter on them."Now, spell out your name! I hope this will work..."she suggested.I don't remember much of those humanletters. However, I always know howto spell out my name.Swiftly, I pushed the J at the beginning, then continued with the U, and the samefor V, I and A, until my whole name, Juvia, was spelled out in front of Shii."Juvia? What a beautiful name! It soundsso regal! My Mum taught me that the people from the East add -chan to each other'snames to make it sound like they're friends! So, Juvia-chan, do you want to comealong with me and be my friend? Youcan live with me, and meet my other pets!" Shii commented.I listened through her talking. When she askedme to stay with her, I could have not been happier.Smiling broadly up at her, I nodded, my eyesbright and my smile warm. She giggled with delight and picked me up, cuddlingme close. "Let's meet your new friends, Juvia-chan."
