A stuffed animal, or a doll, an action figure… The one you loved very best. The one that went everywhere with you, that went on every adventure you dreamed up, that shared all your childhood triumphs and failures. The one that got dirty, torn, patched up, and endlessly loved.

More likely than not, the one you eventually grew out of.

Maybe it's that one that you kept, for sentimental reasons. The one that sits on a shelf or at the corner of your bed, in a place of honor. The one you never play with anymore, and rarely think about or even look at.
Or, it might be the one you eventually sold, gave away, or threw out, just because you didn't have a use for it or a place to keep it.
