PART ONE

The doctor wrinkled his nose a little as he studied the test results. He sighed a few times and nodded his head. Nom wriggled uncomfortably in his seat. He didn't like visiting the doctors. They always complained about his expanding waistline, and Nom found that rather embarrassing. He did like his food, maybe a little too much!

"You need more exercise, Nom. And less food, definitely less food". The doctor was being a little firmer than usual. "Your test results are not very encouraging. Can you try a little harder? Maybe consider joining a gym?" Nom couldn't help but let out a little snort. But he knew deep down that the doctor was right. Maybe he could try to get fitter?! Eat healthier foods?! He had never really applied himself before. He took a deep breath and replied "I will try, Doc. With your help, who knows. Maybe I can...hopefully!"

The doctor smiled and nodded approvingly. He patted Nom on the shoulder and asked him to come back every month so they can check on his progress. Nom left the surgery armed with advice, several diet sheets, a discount voucher for the local gym, and some easy to-do exercises at home. He also left with lots of determination and desire to become a slimmer, healthier, fitter Nom. Surely it is possible! Will he be successful?!
