I was born into a pack of wolves that was called Diamond Mystics. I was the runt of a litter of five pups. Rayamund, the Alpha male and my father, always inspects the litters to ensure that they're all strong and healthy. He was furious when he saw me; tiny, weak and, what he thought, no good to anyone, let alone the Diamond pack. He made the move in to kill me when my mother, Leetra, stepped in snarling. She believed I could be something special...or so she though.

Time passed and we grew like all pups do.

Fast forward a very uneventful 6 months because until we reach 6 months of age we don't gain any magical abilities.

I was taking a bath in the lake when I happened to notice something on my fur. Looking closer I noticed that it was a colorful moon, pastel blue in color. I liked the way it looked, so I didn't think much about it. I continued bathing and, when I resurfaced from my swim, I decided to look at myself in the reflective surface. I was in shock - my entire coat had been covered in pastel pink, blue, green and violet moons and pastel yellow stars. My eyes had changed, too, from standard wolf gold to a deep gold and the light reflection in my eyes, instead of being that normal, round fleck of light that appears whenever the light hits it right, you saw stars in my eyes.Shaking my fur dry, I go and rejoin the pack, excited at the changes. That was my fatal mistake, it seems. When I got back, the pack went silent. Then a snarl emerged from the pack that probably could've been heard a mile. My father comes and confronts me. He told me that I was no longer welcome in the Diamond Mystics. I tried to explain to him what happened but he refused to listen. As I made a move towards my mother he runs to attack me...to kill. Mother, making her final save, blocks him from me, telling him not to kill me. Not because she wanted much to do with me anymore, but because she couldn't stand the thought of a pack member, however different, being murdered in front of her.So my father, respecting my mother, takes me by the scruff of the neck, sinks his fangs deep into my skin and literally flings me, 100 meters, out of the pack.Bruised, battered and bleeding, I flee for my life; deep into the shadows of the forest.

Finding a place to hide in the woods, I let out a long, sad howl. I was in pain…great pain; pain from the rejection, pain from my injuries, pain from being homeless. After spending some time in sadness, I shook my head and came to my senses. First thing was to get the blood off me and to try and stop that bleeding before I bled to death as it was flowing fast and hard.

Not knowing exactly what to do about the bleeding, I thought maybe that lake would help me, the one that gave me my markings. Why I got the markings from that lake and my siblings didn't is a mystery that I'll never be able to figure out. We all swam in that lake countless times before.Taking a route not traveled by my former pack, I made my way to the lake, with great difficulty due to other injuries from the throw. Wincing, I made my way into the lake and just stood there, up to the base of my head, seeing as I was in no condition to swim. After a time, I felt this energy surround me. Something big, something huge, was washing itself over me. I couldn't figure it out, however, the longer I stood there, the more the pain lessened to the point where I was completely healed, though very weak.

I crawled out and very wearily made my way back to the forest. A rather large rabbit popped out at me just then and I took the chance to nab it and eat it to try and get some of my strength back...and then blacked out.

I don't know how long I was blacked out for, but when I woke up it was bright and sunny. Knowing I had a new life ahead of me, I started out on my new journey. I knew I had a special connection with that lake, so, seeing as it was unclaimed territory, I marked it…marked the whole perimeter of it.

After marking the lake, I heard a voice. Someone was talking to me. Who, I can't tell you. Even after all this time I still don't know who or what it was. Whoever or whatever it was (I'm guessing it was a guardian angel of some kind) said to me that I was going to be a very powerful creature and that this lake will help me. I was to use it, draw from it its magic and learn to grow from its teachings. I was also told that I would receive help and training from people and animals that I meet on my journey.

I never heard from that voice again.

So, taking the advice from the voice, I began my training. As long as I was within 50 meters of the lake, or in it, I was able to call upon it to be able to train. I learned everything from my gift of speed/running, my invisibility, my magic, my clairvoyance and star divination. I learned how to channel my energy and magic to be able to fight with it when necessary when I did meet people as I trained and through whom I gained training and insight (people/animals came past me, I didn't have to go out to find them).I did, unfortunately, have to learn, and become a natural in, black magic. This was only so that I could learn how to counteract the evil magic with the pure kind, if I was ever up against it. Yes, I can do it, but would never on my life. If someone who was born pure to avenge justice and bring peace through magical abilities was to use black magic, she or he would lose their powers forever. I wasn't letting that be the reason to not use the magic, I just didn't like it to begin with.

So, after 4 years of extensive training and learning everything from earth magic to the magic of the four elements and the four directions to everything else in between, it was finally time for me to step back into that lake. After emerging from it, I received my diamond coat that was symbolic of my former pack and was given one more ability: the ability to fly. I couldn't fly for long distances, but I could fly.

I knew then that my training was finally over, that I had become the powerful creature that that voice told me I would become. However, I knew that the lake would still be willing to help me whenever I needed it. It was my lake and mine alone. Why I was given this gift is another mystery that I will never know the answer to.Making the lake invisible and untouchable except to myself, I created my garments - a periwinkle blue shimmery gossamer hooded cloak and a straight magical wooden walking staff that looked like the branch of a tree encrusted with stars. Yes, stars. I only wore this outfit rarely and only when walking on my hind legs. I then started out on my journey - helping people, fighting battles, using my magic for the good of thousands.

Every month at the full moon I created my magic circle, creating a pyre of magical fire that I would stand in for an hour to purify myself. The fire itself was not hot, barely warm and would not injure, but supremely powerful in purification. Every time I purified myself, I always said the same prayer: that I would finally have a pack...a family...wolves that would accept me.However, as life went on as I continued helping those in need, I was never able to find the home my heart and soul were so longing for. Maybe I was just too different. That didn't stop me from saying that same prayer every full moon, though. Maybe one day I'd be blessed to finally find a pack I can call "home".

That day finally came.

I met a wolf taur called Riaral. Contrary to popular belief, his name is pronounced rye-ah-rahl (or Ria {rye-ah}, as he more commonly goes by), not ree-ah-rahl as most call him. He is this amazing creature with a pack that he calls the Firebloods. He invited me to join his pack once he learned I was without family. We soon became very close to the point of considering each other siblings. It felt good to have family again. He is a very loving and caring Alpha.

One day I needed to go to my Lake. Using my ability of speed, I managed to cross the lands in about ten minutes; a normal wolf would need to take a full moon’s journey, or thirty days one way…if they could find it, which no creature, wolf, animal or human, could, unless I allow them to. I wanted to shed my diamond coat and gain one of ruby as my birth pack exiled me. It told me I needed to bring Ria back with me and he needed to do something extraordinary in order for this request to be fulfilled. Using an incantation, I brought him to the Lake. After getting over his shock, I told him he needed to set the Lake ablaze, as he has the power to create, control and manipulate fire, after doing so getting out as quickly as possible. He agreed.I stood in the water and Ria, using his own incantation, turned the Lake from water to fire and I went up in flames with it, immune to heat and fire by use of my magic, but not to pain.

Five minutes later the Lake returned to normal. I, however, was no where to be found. Ria had to search for me, and found me floating in a trance beneath the water due to a glimmer of radiant light emanating from me. He dragged me to safety, placing me on the ground next to the Lake.
Coughing and sputtering, I wake up. I asked him if he noticed any changed. He was in shock. I asked him what he saw and he told me to go look for myself. As I had used all my energy up to keep myself from dying, he brought some Lake water over to me in a dish and I noticed that my diamond coat changed to ruby!

We were about ready to get going back to the pack, when my tail felt warm. I walked to the lake to cool it and instead a small fire had appeared on its surface…I was given, though Ria, the ability to create fire! Without using my fire magic!

Soon after, my coat began to take on another marking – bloodred swirls flecked with an unearthly yellow…the same yellow as one of Ria’s eyes.

I asked Ria if he had turned me into him. He put me through a quick test – he created a small fire on the ground with his paws in front of me and asked me to pick it up, controlling and manipulating it. I agreed. For the first time in my life I was able to do so, and without any pain.
After the test was successful, I said for us to leave the Lake’s magical range to see if this ability was permanent or temporary due to the Lake’s magical properties. We left the Lake and I tried to create a small fire with my tail. I was successful. I picked it up and threw it across the Lake to extinguish it.

I had gained Ria’s ability that only his original pack members had – to be able to create fire either out of nothing or with some part of their body and to be able to control and manipulate it and not feel its pain. I had become a part of him.

We then left for home; I carrying Ria on my back as I ran.

When the Lake will be needed or if it needs to call me to it again, I don’t know. The Lake has, is and always will be a large part of my life. I have a feeling that it’s been there since the beginning of time and will be there until the end.
