this dillema's dilemma
Brendyl and I first met one wintery day while wandering through the shops of Ytiva. He was sitting in the snow shivering, and crying. He was so sad and needed comforting. I scooped him up and cuddled him tightly, dried his eyes, and asked him what was wrong. This sweet fellow softly said that his favorite thing in the entire world was snow but no matter what he did, every time he touched it with his reborn hands, it melted. He said he tried mittens, wraps, even those mitts you use for cooking, and nothing seems to help. The snow always seems to melt. My momma said I was made to blaze not to freeze. I just want to enjoy the snow.
I set him down after drying his eyes and soothing him some. I suggested we try a few different things ...
Maybe take an elixir or potion to turn him to a different type of Dillema. Maybe try a few layers of mittens and things. Maybe we visit Mathis to see if he has any suggestions since he works with a forge and lots of heat. Maybe we visit Lukien to see if there is anything else that he can think to make that might help.
The elixir/potion was a no go. He tried that road before. Extra layers made little to no difference, his intensity was just too much, and the layers made it kind of hard for him to grip things. So off we ventured in the hopes of finding help. After visiting both Mathis and Lukien, we still hadn't found a great fix. Then, it hit me .... What if instead of trying to fix the problem in one step, we take a different look at things.
Brendyl, darling. Does it bother you that the snow turns to slush when you're playing in it or with it? Of course his response was no.
Does it only bother you when it melts in your hands while you're trying to admire it? And to this he said yes!
I've got it! I think ... that is! I'll be right back.
When I returned, I handed him a small bag. He paused for a moment. Trying to figure out what I may have bought him. He slowly reached into the bag and pulled out ... a Snow globe! I said ok, you said it didn't bother you when you were playing in it or with it that it melted ... and I thought why not enjoy that part and this came to mind. The glass will keep the snow from melting in your hands and you can take them anywhere. What do you think?
His first thought was that most snow globes are not real snow. Then he said to me that it was perfect! That he could also take them back to his house and enjoy them whenever and wherever he wanted! he hugged me tightly, thanked me repeatedly and ran off.
He's gotten quite the collection now. He's asked Mathis to help him make some designs of his own with snow from some of his favorite places.
We may not have been able to solve the entire dilemma, but at least we found a pretty neat solution!
