Toque. My lovable idiot. So cute and fluffy. Hyper and sooky. He's come a long way since we first met.

I was working at an animal shelter when on one particular day an angry man came through the doors with a young handsome husky on leash. The man claimed that the dog was dangerous and needed to be euthanized. The poor dog looked terrified at the man's side. So we took the dog into our custody and assured the man that the young husky would have a behavior evaluation before any decisions were made. And with that the man left.

The husky was terrified. He had to be carried down the hall to an open kennel. The barks of the other dogs made him cower and the kennel made him restless. The five month old dog was in such emotional turmoil. He old seemed to act like a puppy when he was outside in the snow. He loved the snow, his thick wooly coat kept him warm despite the frigid temperatures.

Curious and excited about the new arrival I went to visit him in his outdoor run. He sat leaned against the enclosures door breathing in the fresh air. He looked like a wooly lamb, a wolf in sheep's clothing. He was so calm, and so sweet. I knew he would be the perfect companion for my dog a home, Saxon.

A big discussion was had about what to name the new husky. We already had a dog with the same name so we ended up calling him Bosco. (Which was much better than the alternative, Disco). So I decided to speak with my family about adopting Bosco. Unfortunately they wern't too enthusiastic.

After about a week my family showed up at the shelter in hopes of meeting Bosco. Apparently they had decided that I was going to keep on asking for a second dog until they gave in. So they came to the conclusion that I could take Bosco home, but only on a trial basis. Thrilled I filled out an application and spoke to my manager and was given permission to foster Bosco for a week to see if he'd mesh with our other dog.

It wasn't a good first meeting. Saxon was not pleased to have another dog near his humans, but after a few hours they were civil enough to be off leash together. Though they both still were uneasy. The first few days were an adjustment period, but we monitored them carefully and by the end of the week they were finally acting like friends. On the seventh day having Bosco, I formally adopted him and changed his name to Toque.

1 year later

Saxon and Toque are as thick as thieves. They spend all their time together, The play together, the go on walks together, they even chase the cat together. They're brothers, and they're my family.
