In the year 2067 our world altered beyond recognition. Due to the climate change the world became a barren place. Food and water supplies became low and riots broke out everywhere across the globe. As a result a group of brilliant scientist tried to develop a serum that would help make plants more resilient to the dry climate. However they took their experiments a little too far. The serum did help to make the plants more resilient, but it also caused their DNA to mutate, creating a monster race of large carnivorous plants. The plants killed everyone at the research facility and escaped to rampage the world. In a matter of months they had spread out over the entire world, conquering the human race. Governments set aside their differences and joined forces to try and stop the plants, but every attempt failed. Eventually the survivors retreated to remote military bases and bunkers. They built a new life underground and remained hidden from the outside world.

The group of humans Wes lives with is the more narrow-minded group. They're all about structure, order and control. Neither of them has been been above ground in more than 80 years. Some members have gone above ground, but never returned. A reason for them to believe the world is still a hostile place

Wes has only caught a glimpse one day, around dusk. And saw his love interest. He is open minded, an adventurer and believes their should be more to life than this life of order, structure and discipline.

When he comes above ground he witnesses a green, wealthy planet with animals roaming around freely. The plants have died out years ago and the world, with the absence of humans, has re-developed itself. With a sense of happiness he will set out into the wild jungle to find the girl he loves
