About him

There is nothing in the world Onita loves more than sugary food. However, he doesn't have actual money to spend on his whims. Using his quick wit and innocent appearance, Onita spends the days sneaking into candy stores and bakeries in order to steal the oh so precious sweets and pastries.

He's not only addicted to sweets but also has a very special way of hoarding them; with all the stolen candy, Onita made a ginger house high on the clouds, which is where he actually lives. He redecorates his home every day by adding new goodies, and he even has a candy pet: Mobo, a sweetshroom.

Personality

Onita is full of life and energy; he's always doing something, going from here to there. His sly nature allows him to be a great trickster, playing pranks on pedestrians and getting hold of other's belongigs while nobody is looking. Moral norms don't matter much to him, since he finds it hard to take things seriously. Because of that, he's always in some kind of trouble.

Although a little reckless, he's quite intelligent and intuitive. His inquisitive nature has led him to push into dangerous situations more than once, but he always manages to get away safely.

He moves at his own pace, which is fast, and has no patience with those who are slower than him.

Curiosities

1. Onita is terrified of water. He doesn't go out on rainy days and avoids houses with sprinklers. A good way to shoo him away is to spray water on him.

2. His biggest goal is to have the perfect ginger house, so he spends long hours decorating his home. He's so obsessed with keeping it tidy that he doesn't invite anyone in.

Story time!

Onita grew up under the care of Evora, a witch who specializes in enchanting food. Even though she adopted him so as not to feel alone, Evora spent most of the day in the woods looking for ingredients. It didn't take long before Onita got bored, as he just sat alone doing nothing all day. After noticing that, the witch casted a spell on a little mushroom to turn it into a sweetshroom, in order to keep him company while she was away.

He then spent the days with Mobo, his new companion, running around and making a mess in the cabin. Onita has always been very restless. Evora tried everything to calm him down, but nothing seemed to work. Exhausted, she sat on the couch. After thinking about all the mess she had to face daily, she finally concluded that the only solution was to cast a spell on him and change his personality to a quieter one.

At that very moment, Onita accidentally threw several jars of ingredients on the floor. To avoid a scolding from Evora he quickly put the jars back in the shelf, but since he didn't know how to classify the herbs he put them back in any which way. Fortunately, Evora didn't notice that. However, she did hear the noise.

She got annoyed and went to the kitchen decided to prepare the spell. She picked some jars off the shelf without looking, probably because of habit. Then she mixed some herbs and casted a spell into a little candy, without knowing she was using the wrong ingredients. She gave the candy to Onita and forced him to eat it.

The effects weren't very clear: he just asked for more, while his personality remained the same.

Surprised, Evora examined the ingredients and then she understood what happened. The spell she casted was a completely different one, which just caused a severe addiction.

Angry and frustrated, Evora kicked Onita out of the cabin and told him to never come back. Since Onita was sick of the mistreatment, he just left. Mobo followed him.

Since that day Onita lives on his own. He now roams the streets, looking for sweets to eat.

This for that

When it comes to stealing, Onita has become pretty skilled over the years. So much so that some people became interested in hiring him to steal valuables from others. But, since he is perfectly able to get sweets all by himself, what could they offer in return to make Onita accept the deal?

Food for Mobo.

Mobo feeds on origard nectar, origards are a hard-to-find plant. This ingredient is used for witchcraft, therefore when they lived with Evora the nectar was plenty. However, when they were left in the street, Onita had to find other ways to get the nectar. It wasn't difficult to extract, but it took him a long time to find those plants, and patience isn't his strongest suit.

For that sole reason, Onita doesn't hesitate to ask for bottles of origard nectar in exchange for his services.
