Mercure // Mercury

Mercury is the smallest and innermost planet in the Solar System. Its orbital period around the Sun of 88 days is the shortest of all the planets in the Solar System, making it the fastest of all the planets. Its days are also much longer then ours on Earth; with one day on Mercury lasting 59 Earth days.

Mercury is a little bigger than Earth's moon, however weighs much more then our moon, as Mercury is made of heavier materials, such as iron. Fun fact: It would take more than 18 Mercurys to be as big as Earth

Mercury it self has no moons, unlike the other planets in our solar system; like Jupiter. However the surface of Mercury looks like similar to that of Earth's moon, with it covered in craters.

Sadly Mercury has been a bit difficult to study, with its close proximity with the sun; we've have however had some spacecrafts go visit the planet, such as the first ever to visit Mercury Mariner 10 which flew by in 1974 and 1975. After that, nothing was sent to Mercury for more than 30 years. It was NASA's Messengerspacecraft that would follow after those 30 years. Messenger flew by Mercury in 2008 and 2009, and in March 2011, it began to orbit Mercury.
