Title: Ishiki of the Pyro-Sands
Name: Ishiki
Nickname: Shiki, Shishi
Race: Dune-gargoyle (Humanoid)
Age: 22
Occupation: Mercenary
Abilities: Can control a limited amount of flame and heat, has fully functional wings to fly, has great physical strength
Weaknesses: Cannot create flame or heat, highly sensitive to cold, can only have wings out for short period of time
Personality: Ishiki is generally an easygoing, approachable, and cheerful person. He is usually always wearing a grin, especially around the children and Ducan (because he loves to tease him). However, he hides a great many things behind his grin - fear, desperation, shame. Since he ran away from his homeland in order to live, he feels as if he betrayed them. He puts on a carefree exterior in order to avoid those turbulent feelings.
Appearance: Shiki's home of the Pyro-Sands is apparent in his appearance - bright red hair and brilliant blue eyes. Shichii's skin is naturally tan due to spending his life directly beneath the sun. He keeps his red hair shorter and easily manageable, though it is often askew. He is slightly taller than average, but is lithe and quick. His appearance in no way shows the great physical strength that all races of ancestral dragon origin are naturally given. He has great wings of golden underskin and crimson scales that he must hide most of the time and show only when he needs to use them.
History: Ishiki is a rarity - despite being creature-born, rather than earth-born, he is exceptionally naturally gifted. Because the races of the world are mixed - some type of ancient mythological being with humans - magic itself is dwindling within them, and it is inscreasingly more uncommon for them to have strong abilities as their ancestors did. Ishiki is an exception, and because of it, he was destined to be a sacrifice to the Pyro-Sands, an offering that would appease the heavens and bring water to their desert wasteland home. Before he was to be killed, he discovered that the real reason for the act was to eliminate any creatures born with power - power that could overthrow those in charge. He was raised to believe that he was born to die so others could live, but everything he was taught was a lie. And so, on the eve of his impending sacrifice, he flew away on his natural-born wings and never returned. Because using his wings is incredibly draining, he fell unconscious in the streets of Aliere, the Cogwork City, and was found by a certain antique shop owner and company. He was given a new name by Sachiko, and vowed to put his old life behind him. He finds however that as time passes, it is increasingly more difficult to do so.

Ishiki hadn't expected the enemy skyship to be so big. Nestled in the deepest part of the forest, it was surrounded by wilderness on all sides. It stuck out like an eyesore against all of the trees, but that was probably why they had hidden it so deep within the forest. The ship was incredible, constructed of iron and brass and wood with wings made of the thickest and sturdiest material he had ever seen. It had been kept in pristine condition, with not even a single area of tarnish on any part of the shining metal. He had never salvaged any lost relics like this, one of the finest examples of ancient human technology he had ever seen.

And he was the lucky one who got to set it on fire.

There was just something about conjuring up an uncontrollable wildfire that came naturally to him. He was a dune-dragon after all, a creature of flame and sand. His appearance was rather indicative of his origins, with short, straight, but unruly bright red hair. His skin was sun-tanned and his eyes were the brightest of sky blues. He was one of very few creatures able to summon himself a pair of wings, scaled and crimson in hue. He was incredibly and naturally gifted, a part of an amazing and magical world. And the control of fire was the magic Ishiki had been born with.

He would be disappointed, of course, to take part in the destruction of such an amazing oldworld relic, but such was the nature of his job. And he did very much enjoy setting things on fire. But before that, he had another job to do.

"Shiki!" A young female voice called to him, motioning him over with a wave of her arm. She had platinum blonde hair falling straight down her back, and light blue eyes filled with spirit. Her beauty was astounding, the kind of unnatural yet breathtaking flawlessness that was attributed to artificial lifeforms. But Sachiko had the most personality in all of the people he knew, even ones born of natural means. She was the one who had given him his name, after all. "Stop admiring the skyship and let's go!"

The third member of their extraction team stood silently beside her, as he always did. Haize was a much earlier prototype of artificial life, and Ishiki would never even believe that he was alive if he didn't blink on occasion. His skin was pale and ashen, discolored after several years, and his hair was a medium shade of grey. His eyes were the warmest color on him, a fiery orange but emotionless. He too had been given his name by another, instead of the rather long identification number he had been assigned upon his "birth."

"We're working for an antiques store owner," Ishiki responded to her with a smile. "We shouldn't destroy something like this."

"And if what we find isn't as valuable as we have been led to believe, then we probably won't need to," Sachiko replied as he approached her. She smiled at him and held up her index finger, shaking it in his face in mock reprimanding. "And don't talk about our boss, at least not here."

"Yes, yes, secrets, lies, and theft," He said, throwing his hands up as if in surrender. "I get it. Hey, is it technically stealing if we're taking from pirates?"

Sachiko just smiled at him and motioned for her two companions to follow her out of the brush and beneath the enormous ship's wing. Haize was wordless and silent, as he usually was, as he followed behind his more expressive companions. Ishiki, even after so long a time working with him, still found himself peering over his shoulder to make sure the mechanical dragon was still with them. For machines, Sachiko and Haize were incredibly lightfooted. It was Ishiki, the one naturally born creature of the group, that was snapping twigs beneath his feet.

The sound he was making didn't matter though, as the roaring steam engine of the skyship sputtered into life. "Ah," he said to himself. That's why it wasn't camouflaged – they were planning on taking it up into the clouds sooner rather than later.

"We don't have a lot of time!" Sachiko shouted, barely audible over the engine.

"I see that!" He responded, somewhat uselessly, back to her. They had expected the ship to be at ground for much longer than this, though it would make sense for them to keep moving if their cargo was really so precious. They really didn't have a lot of time, especially to find some mystery item they had never seen before. Their instructions were rather vague, though they had been sent on jobs even less informed than this one before. Those jobs usually ended up messy, however.

The unconscious body of a pirate fell between the two of them, and they both looked at the expressionless face of Haize, who simply nodded his head in the direction of the open door into the ship. Ishiki couldn't help but grin – it seemed like this job was going to get relatively messy as well. Just the way he liked it. He hopped through the open doorway into the heart of the ship, followed closely by his two mechanical friends.
