August

A slight frown crossed her face as she spotted something within her sketch. Next to a brick wall August had sketched a cat. Or that was at least her intention when she had been focused on her sketching earlier. It looked normal for the most part, aside from the fact that the feline was perched on its haunches. It held up one paw by its head, while the other paw seemed to be holding onto a large coin of some sort. She looked over to the wall where she had spotted the creature, but the feline had long since been gone.

August flinched upon hearing a voice from behind her suddenly. She furrowed her brows and turned in her seat upon reconizing who it was coming from. "I wish you wouldn't sneak up on me like that."

"Wish denied. I'm no djinn, little lamb." The dark skinned woman walked around to the front of the bench and sat down next to August. "If you despise that maneki neko's presence in your art so much, erase it."

August glowered as she looked at her sketch. "I can't just do that, Fanndis. You know I don't work that way."

"Suit yourself." The woman known as Fanndis shruged. "The fickleness of you artists rival that of fae. Here." Fanndis held a cup in either hand. She pushed one of them into August's hands, not giving the girl a chance to deny her offer. "Let your hands warm up before you slave away at another sketch."

Even with the cardboard covering around the cup, the warmth coming from the hot beverage was a sharp contrast to the cool air August had gotten used to. "Thanks." Her response had been more brief than she intended, but a small smile made its way onto her face. She used her free hand to close her sketchpad for the time being and set it down besides her.

...Enveloping all of your sadness

She looked down at her drink before she could be teased for staring. She already knew she had been caught looking at Fanndis, as she heard a chuckle come from the woman before an arm was snaked around her shoulder. A rare quiet moment passed between the two. Most of their interactions consisted of Fanndis finding ways to fluster August. Regardless, her presence was appreciated all the same.

"Is it entertaining to get reactions out of me? I can't possibly be that interesting to you."

'Mother'
"Mom-- STOP! It's nothing like that. I, she's just a client. You're embarassing me oh my god."
