let's drown in nostalgia

It is a cool night after a hot day, spring melting into summer. Summer mornings sometimes brim with anticipation that burns away like morning dew. It is only another weekday, it is only time for work. Why are you dreaming of an imagined freedom that basically never occurred?

There was one summer, that liminal space between high school and college.

It was a mistake, it was a high. Would it have been more glamorous if you were actually doing drugs?

The future never burned brightly this time. The dreams of the 90s crashed so bitterly. Should there have been something better? There will always be wars, but the planet, alight, is something more novel to us. We are collectively no more intelligent than a volcano. Whatever happens will happen because of our failings.

We collectively dreamed of a brighter future. You only dreamed of a break from school, not the exuberance of ever upwards. It's not your hope...
