A dice roll shakes on the table sprawled with chips and drinks

"20!!"

This night was off to a great start, soon the dragon's treasure would be ours.

The party cheers as they celebrate their victory over these owlbears. Between grabbing for snacks and laughing about how easy these fights were getting the DM laughs... And that's never a good sign.

"I need everyone to roll perception for me" he says with a wicked smirk.

A cold sweat strikes us as we roll, 10, 11, 8. Nothing amazing but perhaps we would be okay. Our worries turn to dread as the master of this nightmare rolls what sounds to be a handful of dice... And another... And then another.

"After looking up from behind his screen he says "I need you all to make dexterity checks" with a cruel calmness and a snide sense of joy.

Our celebration may have been too soon as we reach for our dice... Perhaps the dragon's treasure was further than we'd thought.
