Foxy

Hey! Hey you! Yeah you. What are you doing on my page?! Intruder! Hm? Oh...well, I guess you're okay. Just don't get too close! I may be little but I have some pretty sharp teeth! .... Alright, fine. My bark is worse than my bite...to be honest, I don't bite. I'm actually pretty "quiet" for a chihuahua, at least that's what my human says. I suppose I should introduce myself. My name is Foxy and I'm a longhair chihuahua...not a papillon! I get mistaken for one a lot. I'm seventeen years young and have a big family. In my pack I have two doggy brothers named Cricket and Nemo and a sister named Wahya. She's a BIG sister now but I can remember when she was the same size as me! I love them all but I'm especially close to Cricket. He's the leader of our pack (the humans only think they're in charge...haha!) and I'm fine with that because I'm more of a follower. I follow him everywhere! I love to go for short walks and hikes but most of all I just love to sit in my person's lap, groom and snuggle with my packmates.

Foxy went to the Rainbow Bridge on 4/3/20 at the age of 17. He had been battling congestive heart failure for four years and in that time had been an absolute miracle pup, outliving all expectations. Then it came on suddenly; he started to cough and wheeze non-stop. When he didn't improve we took him to the vet and spent the entire day there trying to save him. He was given two rescue dose injections of furosemide to try and clear the fluid from his lungs; he was placed in an oxygen tank which was the only time he got any relief. The minute he was taken off pure oxygen he started to gasp again. The vet said a cord in his heart had snapped and fluid was filling his lungs faster than any medication could clear it. My family and I had to make an impossible decision, one I never wanted to make... but the alternative would have been absolutely agonizing for him. He was surrounded by nothing but love as he peacefully made the journey to Rainbow Bridge.

Foxy, every single day was a treasure with you and I'm so thankful for all the years we spent together... I only wish I could have made them last forever. Thank you so much for all the times you were there for me, for all the ways you saved me. I can never repay you enough for that. We got to go so many places and do so many things, didn't we? You were always right by my side, no matter what. We got to go hiking and camping, we visited animal sanctuaries, went to doggy festivals, monthly potlucks with friends and we spent plenty of time at home just snuggling together too. You had a wonderful pack who all loved (and still love) you very much. Cricket, Wahya, Nemo, Chico and Roo all send their love. You helped raise "little" Wahya and took care of the foster kittens, were gentle and sweet to the rats and always got along with everyone. I'm sure you've reunited with Haylee and all of our special ones already at the Rainbow. I bet you're giving her kisses right now. I also know, without a doubt, that you're still here right by my side.

Please know we did everything we could, I would have given anything to save you. I'm grateful we got to hold you close and tell you how very much we love you. You can breath again now... and you can run as far and as fast as you please. But you can also sit right here in my lap, if that's what you prefer. You were always such a fighter with a strong spirit, a true miracle pup... even the vet said so. I wish I could physically hold you in my arms again right now. But I know we'll be together forever and you will always be in my heart. I miss you so very much and I LOVE you, I love you. I'll love you forever and always, my good little boy.
