I got my Kikakitty when I was 12. I was caught in the middle of a court battle between my parents and I was lost. I felt like I had no one. My mom took me to the Humane Society with the intention of looking for a kitten. We came across this little Siamese with crossed eyes and a kinked tail. She was tiny and all alone in her little Plexiglas cube. It was love at first sight.

We took her home and she proceeded to rip and tear through the house like a mad thing. She attacked our toes, hid under furniture and, most importantly, screamed. Kia was incapable of shutting up. In true Siamese fashion, she was vocal and yelled at all hours. She wasn't exactly loving until later. She was a stereotypical cat, keeping her distance and judging us from afar.

As she aged, she became increasingly needier. And increasingly louder.

She needed to be pet. At all times. You knew this because she would scream at you. And follow you, still screaming. Then headbutt you, still screaming. Or she'd make biscuits and occasionally yell at you, just in case you were unaware she was there. In her old age she taught herself to climb a ladder in order to get to me. She weighed less than 5 lbs and ran off every stray cat that came anywhere near her house during her brief ventures to sunbathe on the porch.

Kika lived to be nearly twenty years old. She passed in 2019 after a lifetime of love, screams and biscuits.
