I remember that when I was young my very first crush was on a boy, but then my second was on a girl, and my third a boy again... and back and forth it went.

I was taught that I should like boys because I am a girl, "that's just how it is". But, I also liked girls, feminine, masculine, in between... it didn't seem to matter their gender, I liked them for them - I loved them for them. It was so very confusing. My body and mind told me one thing, while the outside world, my family, told me another.

I never trusted myself. I never trusted my own thoughts and feelings. Everyone around me told me who I was and I went along with it. I bottled up the real me and I put on the mask that they wanted me to wear.
