Nightmare Yaherra The Erebus Files
April 14th, 1987:
Trials for narcotic injectable, codename "Erebus", begin preparation. Patients subject to prior mental trauma and illness selected as participants for testing, acquired from the -REDACTED- facility via closed contract. Observations will proceed as scheduled.
April 18th, 1987:
Erebus trials begin. Patients are to be observed in the designated controlled environment for the duration of 1 hour.
Patient 063 receives first trial of Erebus injectable. Behavioral analysis following treatment indicates heightened brain activity precisely 35 minutes after exposure to Erebus. Patient 063 describes the experience as "otherworldly" and "off", cites the visualization of towering structures in a barren wasteland. Wasteland apparently desolate other than one figure Patient 063 claims to have witnessed from far-off, coinciding with the 45 minute mark. Described to be tall, entirely black and blurry. Patient 063 insists this entity watched her from afar but never moved.
April 19th, 1987:
Patient 013 receives second trial of Erebus injectable. Heightened brain activity again detected after the 30 minute mark, with a notable physical manifestation of twitching. Patient 013 describes his experience as "unsettling" and "eerie" and claims to have been walking through an endless, blank hallway. Patient 013 claims he was compelled to continue walking as he felt something was approaching from behind him, though he only looked back once. Patient 031 describes what he saw to be a looming, dark figure that fixated on him but did not move. No matter how far Patient 013 traveled, he progressed no further distance relative to this figure.
April 21st, 1987:
Erebus formulation altered with intent to remove purported hallucinogenic qualities that may be interfering with treatment and patient stabilization.
April 22nd, 1987:
Trials resume. Patient 004 receives third trial of Erebus, first prior to reformulation. Heightened brain activity now detected as early as 15 minutes, manifesting in spasms and tremors. Patient 004 is visibly disturbed upon regaining consciousness, reports having been in a large, upside down room where he was surrounded by humanoid shapes consisting of opaque shadow, which were blurry as though they were in a constant state of motion despite remaining still. Patient 004 then reports a much larger, non-humanoid shadow figure among these "Blurs" that watched from nearby. Patient 004 claims to have felt a deep and profound fear that rendered him unable to act, and felt the non-humanoid figure was drawing nearer despite a lack of visible movement.
April 23rd, 1987:
Patient 020 receives fourth trial of Erebus, second prior to reformulation. Brain activity spikes within 5 minutes of injection, resulting in violent shaking and thrashing during which Patient 020 requires restraining. Patient 020 regains consciousness while screaming and initially refuses to be interviewed. Hours following, Patient 020 appears stable and is reoriented. Patient 020 claims to have been swallowed into an aimless, floating void where she was unable to make geographical or directional sense. Patient 020 claims to have heard a dull humming all around her and witnessed a mass of figures all around her, likened to the "Blurs" mentioned by Patient 004. Patient 020 details experiencing an unbearable sense of dread and inevitable harm, thereafter witnessing the non-humanoid figure up close. Patient 020 claims it to be an amalgamation of beings, but could not pinpoint any of its features in particular, simply stating that it was "wrong". Patient 020 focuses intently on describing the figure's eyes, which she states were empty but simultaneously endless, filled with the most horrible things she could imagine. Patient 020 struggles to recount how she was unable to look away from them and witnessed events and scenarios she describes to be unnatural and indiscernible, but "unmistakably evil".
April 26th, 1987:
Erebus undergoes a second reformulation in attempt to eliminate the presence of unintentional entities being rendered by the subconscious.
April 28th, 1987:
Trials resume. Patient 007 receives fifth trial of Erebus, first prior to second reformulation. 20 seconds following injection, Patient 007 is afflicted with convulsions and foaming of the mouth. Within 1 minute of injection, Patient 007 falls unresponsive, entering a spontaneous coma. Brain activity displays erratic patterns that do not cease.
April 30th, 1987:
Patient 007 remains stable but unresponsive. Patient 020 is discovered during routine maintenance to be missing both eyes, apparently having torn them out herself. The walls of her room depict crudely structured scenes she was able to paint with her own blood, though sense cannot be made of these depictions. She is restrained and transferred to a psychiatric ward.
May 1st, 1987:
Erebus trials have concluded due to extenuating circumstances, and production is consequently discontinued.
