When Quilted was being born, well just before that time he was a pile of fluffy blue scraps of soft cotton fabric, plump stuffing and a pair of large blue gemstones for his eyes. The only thing missing was the supplies needed for his whiskers and tail and the soft pads for his four feet. Emily hunted through the craft stores with no luck at all. Finally one day while out visiting charity shops she found several bins of well-loved stuffed toys and found that parts of these precious toys would be useful in creating Quilted's final assembly. After several weeks of careful hand stitching and sewing on her mother's antique Singer, Quilted's final hours were completed. He was carefully packaged into a box and mailed off to a favorite niece in a faraway land. As an after thought Em placed in the package a cute little knitted dolly with the name tag attached that read Kerboodle. Her niece would laugh at that name she knew. Within a week she imagined Sarah running through the house clutching her two new toys, laughing and singing. With that happy thought Emily put the finishing touches on the gift and headed to the post office.
