Ott sat back into his chair. Glancing up at his master and friend, an old Glacier Ontra called Riverbank, he asked the children to gather at his feet, "So, you want to know how Riverbank and I met?"A young Glacier Archan spoke up for himself and the others. "Yes, Ott."Ott leaned forward and ruffled his fur. "Very well," he assented. "I'll tell you. Unless, of course," he added, "Riverbank wants to tell you?"Riverbank smiled shyly and rumbled, "No, thank you, friend."Ott nodded. "Very well," he repeated himself. "It started one winter, very long ago. I was only a young Ott-Oh back then..."

Ott was swimming in the icy water when he first noticed the Ontra. Watching him for a while, he wondered why he was siting there on the bank, dangling his feet in the water, but not interacting with anyone. At last, curiosity won out and he swam over to the Ontra.He flashed a grin up at the Ontra and introduced himself. "Hello, there. I'm Ott. Who are you?"Very softly, the Ontra answered, "I'm Riverbank.""Why are you alone?" Ott interrogated.Riverbank shrugged. "I don't have many friends."Ott nodded to himself. "We'll be friends," he asserted.

"That afternoon," Ott finished, "Riverbank and I became friends. It only seemed natural that when we came of age, I should be his minion."The younglings laughed and chattered, and thanked Riverbank as he handed them a piece of candy apiece. As soon as they were gone, Riverbank turned to Ott and asked him, "Aren't you ever going to tell them the rest of the story, friend?"Ott smiled. "Maybe someday, River. Maybe someday."
