Liette grapples with the mirror, searching for the perfect angle. Once satisfied, she dabs the gentle cream of her cheeks with blush, smears her greedy lips with the softest of pinks. Cloaked in her favorite shawl, she crawls, with her slow grace, to the honeycomb shelves along her bedside. Her crowns lean beautifully against the wall, the headdresses of diamond and gold glowing in the darkness. Tracing over the plated jewels, she grasps one of the delicate heirlooms, places it on her head. She turns back to her mirror, ready to admire her reflection when the bumbus servant comes bursting through her door.

â€œYour Highness!â€ he squeaks, shocked to see her there. â€œI-I was about to begin cleaning your roo-â€

Ignoring his rambling, she gestures to her collection, grates out her words. â€œIâ€™m running short, you know.â€

The young bumbusâ€™ lips shut quickly, confusion seeping into his speech. â€œB-but, milady, you have plent--â€

â€œInform the workers at once,â€ she speaks venomously, cutting him off easily. â€œthat we will need the sweetest of this hiveâ€™s combs to pay for the molding of a new crown.â€

He stutters, but she sees him off with a flick of the wrist, back to preening in the mirror.
