Koren is the product of experimentation... no one knows what he was before or where he came from. He just appeared one day in a horribly deformed body, making gargling and choking noises because he couldn't speak.
I set to work restoring the creature... and the result was a small wide-eyed Antlephore.
He doesn't remember how old he is, who his parents were, or even if he has always been male, but he doesn't mind too much. Actually, he would prefer not to remember. He's happy with who he is now. He has a child-like curiosity and seems to be quite naive about a lot of things. Running is his favorite thing to do because when he was being experimented on he wasn't given a lot of freedom. He also enjoys asking a lot of questions and playing a lot of games. His favorite playmate is Drencher (when he's not busy) and he treats Ignatia like he would his mother.
Unfortunately he can't take a hint, so he is usually treated as a pest by other pets.

Koren slunk over to Ignatia and sat down beside her, listless. "I had that dream again..." he murmured. His companion looked down at him with a concerned expression on her face. Koren was usually quite cheerful, but recently he'd been having these awful nightmares... both of them knew they weren't really nightmares... they were memories of his time as an experiment.
"There were bars... and needles..." he shuddered. "I couldn't breath."
"It was just a nightmare Koren," Ignatia told him softly. She knew this wasn't the case, but she didn't know how else to comfort him.
"All of the people in my dream were wearing lab coats..." he continued. "The room was so dark. There was a spotlight on me though. I couldn't see their faces."
"Try not to think about it," she said. She rose to her feet and stretched. The fire burning across her body was very hot. She was worried that Koren might accidentally touch the hot metal and burn himself. "You're making yourself upset."
"But it's hard not to think about it," Koren pouted jumping to his hooves, intent on following her if she decided to move. "I have these dreams almost every night!"
"Koren... even if those are memories... what happened to you is in the past now," Ignatia tried to encourage him. "Those people can't hurt you anymore."
"Yeah... I know..." Koren mumbled. He lowered himself down and rested his head on his hooves. "Can I sleep here tonight...?" he asked.
Ignatia smiled. "Of course you can."
