About twenty years ago, however, Radcliffe's (after)life was once again turned upside down when Death met a human woman named Emily, and shortly thereafter had a son with her. And, a few years after that, it became apparent that this was a much bigger deal than it first appeared. This was because there can only be one Death, and Death's young son, Issac, was quickly eclipsing his father's powers. In response to this, Death decided that Radcliffe should protect his son and replacement, and following Emily's untimely demise, became the boy's full-time caretaker until he reached adulthood and finally took over from his father completely. This is easier said than done, because Issac is one of very few people truly capable of frustrating Radcliffe beyond repair, and is the kid doesn't grow up soon, Radcliffe just might kill Issac himself.

Despite his dislike for Issac, Radcliffe is steadfast and dependable. He'll stick to any task he's given regardless of how he feels about it so long as he respects the person who gave the task enough. He is often playful and enjoys playing the fool--usually acting oblivious or as though he is less intelligent than he actually is, alternately to make other people feel important when they need the confidence boost, or to bring people who are a bit too full of themselves down to a normal level. He cares about the safety and happiness of everyone he meets, regardless of his personal opinions of them, and he's always willing to take the time to calm down the recently deceased so that they can have a peaceful passing. Radcliffe is a very paternal sort of person, due in no small part to raising three small children before his untimely death. He just enjoys caring for people.

He is, however, lazy and has a number of bad habits. Particularly, he smokes and is prone to enjoying a sedentary lifestyle. He would much rather watch trashy TV than go out and play sports, but running errands for Death doesn't often allow him the opportunity. Now that he's on full-time baby sitting duty, he's overindulged. It drives his charge up the wall, but considering how poorly he and Issac get along anyway, Radcliffe doesn't much care.
