Recipe for a Jupiter
Use the largest bowl in the collection, since this would be making the biggest planet in the Solar System. Make sure it has a lid; many essential components for this recipe are gaseous. Metal is most conducive for the strong magnetic field of the dish. While most of the hydrogen is set aside to start the Sun and bake the rest of the ingredients, a good amount of the rest will go towards this recipe along with a little bit of helium, about one part per ten of the total ingredient amount.
Different chefs have their own suggested techniques for making Jupiters; some cooks prefer to start with small rocky bits to form a center and add more over time before wrapping it in hydrogen, while others wait for the hydrogen to congeal in clumps and then mix in the solids. Even the core of the recipe is a matter of debate; some prefer a molten center, while other cooks think a solid formulation is the way the recipe should work. A recent food critic named Juno has their own idea after their observation of a finished product; they think the chef made a solid core and then smashed part of another dish into it, breaking up the center into chunks after an initial solid setting.
Mix the hydrogen and helium along with some trace amounts of sulfur and methane, along with ammonia, and water vapor for red and white color. Do not mix to homogeneity, this recipe calls for a marbled effect. A proper Jupiter should still be warm in the middle even further along the recipe, enough to affect your ingredients and change coloration as those streaks of materials rise and sink in belts and zones.
While making your Jupiter, feel free to mingle with other projects but also remember to give them their own space later! Other restaurants may bring their gas giants head closer to the central oven or ovens and never go back out, from what our food critics can tell us, and too much socializing and hogging of ingredients didn't let as many small dishes (including potential Earths) come together while making massive Mars courses. We observe overbaked gas giants very close to their ovens in other establishments. Reconstructing historical notes on Sol's recipe may be consistent with an association between Jupiter and the Saturn chef that explains the difference between their settings and ours; both of those Solar dishes involve similar ingredients and maybe a grand tack towards the Sun earlier in the kitchen schedule. Saturn grabbing hydrogen and other materials on the way in may have left an open swath out back towards the cooler edges that made it easier for both Jupiter and Saturn's chefs to return to their original stations.
Use four larger pieces for your main moons. Callisto and Ganymede should be cooler icy pieces, but add baking soda and vinegar to Io for volcanoes and make sure to leave a liquid layer under Europa's icy crust. Decorate the rim of your bowl with crushed rocky material from the original stock of ingredients to make an attractive narrow ring, and ask or 'borrow' remains from other stations and failed projects for more garnish in orbit around your dish. When done you will have the a breathtaking dish fit for a king, glowing in the darkness. Enjoy!
