Attacks
Sabao Spray - Sailor Mercury's first technique produced a thick fog that obscured the area, but in which the Senshi could see clearly. It was a support ability, incapable of directly harming enemies.
Sabao Spray Freezing - A more powerful form of Sabao Spray that could actually harm, or at least immobilize, enemies. First appeared in the R season.
Double Sabao Spray Freezing - An enhanced form of Sabao Spray Freezing, used on one occasion against Giwaku.
Mercury Aqua Mist - An attack given in the reprints of the manga to create a fog, similar to Sabao Spray in the anime.
Chou Jigen Kuukan Genshutsu (Kodansha translation: Hyperspatial Sphere Generate) - A mysterious ability used only once in the manga to protect the Game Center Crown from destruction.
Shine Aqua Illusion - An attack that would blast away enemies with a stream of water.
Shine Snow Illusion - Created a snow storm to blast enemies.
Mercury Aqua Mirage - An attack which only appeared in the manga and the Ami's First Love special episode in the anime.
Mercury Aqua Rhapsody - Sailor Mercury played the Mercury Harp to send blasts of water at her enemies. She gained this power after transforming with the Mercury Crystal.

"...ere Generate!"

Ami Mizuno clasped her hands together and rested her chin on her fingertips, staring dazedly at the shifting colors and landscapes visible through the bright edge of the portal she had just opened. The space-time singularity with its incandescent light blue border hovered in the air over a slender pillow of intricately latticed ice and nodes of Bose-Einstein condensate, shimmers moving through some of the hair-thin detailing on the sculpture, and the woman (also known as Sailor Mercury) was afraid even to breathe in case she broke the effect. But eventually the blue-haired woman released her gasp and the images playing across the sphere stayed anyway, showing strange visions of other Amis and various places and times. Some were terrifying; Neo-Queen's face in one flash was deadly pale and her smile showed fangs, while in another the Galactic Cauldron's steep walls were broken and only grey wisps of what should have been prismatic foaming mist undulated listlessly in the wreckage. Sailor Mercury even glimpsed a version of herself in a darker blue costume with jagged overlays speaking to Jadeite, before a turn of that bright rim lensed into a scene of a young blonde-pigtailed girl in ragged clothing tracking across a desert and towards a dark crystal tower that was not anywhere on Earth and instead drank light from the close-packed stars of the Galactic core in the sky. "I've done it. I've actually done it," Mercury murmured.

These alternate futures and pasts held Sailor Mercury so raptly that she didn't even notice when the rest of the room darkened. It took Sailor Pluto clearing her throat before Ami blinked and then turned towards the green-haired guardian of time-space. Ami's expression was confident, untroubled, and she met Setsuna's gaze with relaxed shoulders.

Sailor Pluto tilted her head slightly at Ami before something in the sphere of could-have-beens drew Setsuna's garnet eyes, and the shadows at the corners of her mouth deepened in pain. Ami looked away to give Setsuna privacy with the moment and spoke. "I remember, too. We all remember what happened in the past and what we saw. The future is assured, especially with you to guide and nudge everything just so. It is..." She faltered.

"Boring?" Sailor Pluto offered, lips settling back into a neutral line.

"N-no," Ami rejoined quickly. "Not boring. It's a good thing that I know Small Lady will be all right, and that Neo-Crystal Tokyo will survive. I'm happy that I know what Sailor Cosmos decides. It's all wonderful. But...if we know, if we're sure, I was wondering if there are people out there who would benefit from having a place that has a happy fate. Maybe even other Mercuries, or Amis, that need a home."

Sailor Pluto's grip tightened on her silvery Time Key staff. "Only another Sailor Crystal of Mercury would be acceptable to take your place."

Sailor Mercury blinked. "But you wouldn't stop me, if I found one?"

Sailor Pluto shook her head. "I wouldn't, because I understand why you would do it. It is...unorthodox, and it could present wrinkles, but I can smooth them. The question is, would you be willing to leave your friends and the security of a future with them? You will not be able to return if you do this."

Ami took a deep breath, looking down and aside. Everything in the room seemed slower and darker and more surreal; the table with a half-eaten sandwich cast afterimages against the darkness of an apple on the plate instead, and for a moment even a slumped human figure with blood dripping from its throat across the marble surface came into focus. It faded out and she saw a bottle with machinery assembled inside next, the rim of the container still sparking as if some other version relied on a raw jolt of energy instead of organically processing calories.

Finally she looked up and nodded. "Usagi was willing to give up her life if it would redeem Nehellenia, and she offered our friendship because she knew we believed in her mission of helping others to a better place even at personal cost. I want to carry her love and justice wherever it can do some good, and help those who think that all would be lost. I don't need a future set in crystal."

Sailor Pluto struck the end of the Time Key against the crystal floor and the sphere of other-space expanded into a diameter large enough to step through, the molecular-thin garnet ring that had been holding it back without Mercury's knowing breaking in a quiet shatter. Sailor Mercury turned to the older woman, wrapping her arms around the startled Setsuna before pulling back and smiling at her. "From one scientist to another, thank you. You'll explain, won't you? And help whoever comes through?" Kneeling figures reflected in Ami's eyes as she examined the portal again.

"I promise." Setsuna's voice was low but intense with emotion and pride.

Two childlike forms dragged a struggling humanoid figure in a blue sailor suit across the viewfield of the portal, pulling their victim across a arid landscape where a distant giant tree stretched leafless limbs into an eerie green sky. The scene focused in on a pointy-eared male figure with turquoise hair embedded in the trunk of the tree and a pink-haired woman's head and torso protruding from the muscle-like bark, whispering to the the trapped man.

"A timeline where Ali and Ann were early coming to Earth?" Ami wondered aloud.

"In that one the Xenian Flower found Ali and Ann in their seedling journey across the stars, and subverted them to her cause. With their help the Xenian Flower was able to fight Sailor Moon on two fronts, and she has not yet been reborn from using the Crystal to stop the comet they sent." Setsuna quirked an eyebrow at Sailor Mercury. "Quite a challenge to turn around."

Ami took a deep breath. "Sounds like it needs a scientist who doesn't give up. Goodbye, Setsuna." She smiled at Sailor Pluto, and then took a running leap into the light.

The two fey children in the distant view were suddenly encased by a wave of ice that still left their faces exposed to breathe, and another sailor-suited figure pushed the struggling one out of their grasp and towards the portal. A teenage Sailor Mercury, bleeding and dirty, tumbled out onto the crystal floor of Neo-Crystal Tokyo and into the waiting arms of Sailor Pluto as the other-space contracted inward and almost disappeared. It flashed wide open once more for just a brief second before closing for good, but this time the sky on the other end was blue and the green-leafed tree had no imprisoned man or malevolent dryad; just prismatic crystal fruit decorating the ends of the branches and a milling crowd of adults, some with pointy ears and others with hair colors (including a set of blonde pigtails) that Setsuna recognized, but all with smiles as they played together. Sailor Pluto smiled in turn and spoke with sincerity into the hair of the girl she was holding. "It's going to be all right."
