"Oooofffff!"

Air rushing out of lungs made a small sound to match the small boy they belonged to. He sat up and looked back at the tree root that had reached out to grab him while he'd valiantly been trying to keep up with his older brothers. Today after months, no years, of trying to be included, they'd finally relented. They'd promised that if he could keep up with them, he could come along and play.
He'd wanted this for so long. He hated being the youngest and always left behind. The other boys spoke of the cemetery often. To their little brother, it seemed it must be the most perfect place in all the wide world.,br>
He rose to his feet, ignoring the slight twinge of a turned ankle. After all, at seven he was now a big boy and big boys didn't cry over things like falling down. He hurried down the path hoping the older two hadn't gotten too far ahead during the time spent on the ground. As he rounded a corner, he didn't catch sight of the other boys, but he did find his destination. There, in all its sprawling glory, was Wolf Valley Cemetery. It was indeed impressive to the child. Set on the side of a gently sloping hill, it was green and lush with many fascinating thing to look at. Concrete angels, trees, crosses, etc... spread out before him and he could hardly wait to begin exploring.

He slipped through the tree line that served as a quasi fence and began looking at the headstones. As he continued on his way, idly trying to find his older siblings, he began to worry at how quiet it was. Maybe they hadn't stopped in the cemetery after all, but instead led and left him here and were now off somewhere laughing at him. If wouldn't be the first time he'd found himself on the receiving end of one of their jokes. Just as he really began to consider turning heel and running home, he heard a loud cry of dismay. Hurrying forward, he peered around a particularly large stone only to find his brothers lying on the ground. Their feet were tangled in what appeared to be several of the ribbons he'd seen tied about the various bundles and wreaths of flowers on the graves.

Hearing a soft giggle, his wide eyes followed the line of ribbon to where the end was held by a little, red-haired girl sitting on a headstone. Giggling again she noticed the boy looking at her. She grinned at him, revealing a missing front tooth, and winked a big grey-blue eye. Then, to his utter shock, she slowly faded from his sight.

Lenny is a protective and playful child spirit. She haunts the graveyard where her remains were laid to rest. Hers is one of the oldest graves found there. She can not remember anything about her life before the cemetery and isn't certain of the age she was when she died, though she appears somewhere between eight and ten years old. Her stone is old, corrupted and the only date that can be read is January 1, 1884. She doesn't know if that is her birth or death date.

She adores her cemetery. It is large and well cared for with a variety of monuments and statues to both admire and play on. There are "dark spots" that she avoids at all cost. There are things in the graveyard that make her afraid and she doesn't go near them if she can help it. Mostly she spends her time frolicking with other spirits and the squirrels that live in the trees. Occasionally she comes across a living soul that can sense or see her and has a great time pranking or playing with them. She also is known to watch over any children that wander in her domain, be they living or dead.
