He’d never stopped worrying about her, even if he knew he would never get her back. But then, then there was a cure. The cure that brought the zombies back to self-awareness, if not truly back to life.
And so, the zombies began to return in swathes, although it was difficult to round all of them up to inject the cure. He scanned each group of returnees, but she was never there.
Endlessly, he searched for her.
Day, after day, after day.
But she never came back.
